I have suffered with an addiction problem to marijuana. Mainly, because I'm from a long line of addiction. In no way am I saying I have any withdrawal symptoms. I just simply want to smoke it all the time.
I personally hear from multiple people that "God made weed", and I think okay, but how many joints do you think he smokes a day?

Marijuana creates a psychological addiction rather than a physical addiction like other narcotic drugs so your comment regarding your wanting to "smoke all the time" is an indication of an addiction.

None. And neither did His disciples nor Paul.

God made hemlock, but that doesn't mean we are to kill ourselves with it just because He made it.

We live in a dangerous world and friends betray one another and so it pays to be sober all the time to prevent temptations around others as well as being tempted to do harder drugs to become a worse addict to your self and your health.

1 Thessalonians 5:[SUP]4 [/SUP]But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.[SUP] 6 [/SUP]Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.[SUP] 7 [/SUP]For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.[SUP] 8 [/SUP]But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.[SUP] 9 [/SUP]For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,[SUP] 10 [/SUP]Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.[SUP] 11 [/SUP]Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Titus 2:12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

1 Peter 4:7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

1 Peter 5:[SUP]7 [/SUP]Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.[SUP] 8 [/SUP]Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:[SUP] 9 [/SUP]Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

You need His help to stop smoking marijuana because He does want you sober in your walk with Him.

1 John 1:[SUP]3 [/SUP]That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.[SUP] 4 [/SUP]And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.[SUP] 6 [/SUP]If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:[SUP] 7 [/SUP]But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.[SUP] 8 [/SUP]If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.[SUP] 9 [/SUP]If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 3:[SUP]3 [/SUP]And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure....[SUP]8 [/SUP]He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2 Timothy 4:
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,[SUP] 25 [/SUP]To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Yes I'm aware of that! But people think it's a joke when I say a suffer marijuana addiction, which is crazy because I'm not really laughing. And then they say God made weed, and you can't addicted to it. I personally think and know he made it for it's medical purposes, not for me to smoke my life away.

Firstly we are all a work in progress so when we give our hearts to the Lord, from that moment on we are new creatures in Christ. This does not mean we dont have many aspects that need change as for most of us we are a work in process.
While God did indeed invent such plants, getting high (Or a buzz) by smoking them is an abuse of the reason why God made them.
One of the most common abuses I can think of is alcohol where God said in the Word to drink a little wine for ones stomachs sake (Yes, it s the alcoholic wine and remember, he said a little!) and also it says strong drink to be used for those in desperate pain or grief.
Now satan has ways to get us to abuse what God has made leading to addictions or to health issues or an early death as satan comes to kill, steal and destroy.
If you can start cutting down your drug use, so you will come off the plant as it may make you feel good, but it will take you in a direction not profitable for your future. Replace it with more of God to fill the void it has left.
I do not believe an addiction of the body is dangerous to ones Christian walk but neither is it good to risk shortening your walk or sudden mood swings etc that can hurt others around you with the ups and downs that drugs can often do. Many of these ups and downs (Also seen in medication and alcoholism. Each substance having different reactions) are only noticeable by those who live around you and you may not be aware of it yourself.
I welcome you to the body of Christ and hope your walk with God gets closer and closer ask time goes on. :) And a big well done and a hug for being open and honest.
Be aware I have never tried drugs myself so my view here will be from that angle so I can't say how they make you feel. All I can say is whatever you feel, Jesus is better then that!

Part of the curse on mankind because of the fall is that instead of man ruling over creation, creation rules over him. This means things like plants rule over us and bring us into bondage. This is not the what God intended. In Christ.....and I know this is way easier to say than do.....we can be victorious over addictions because he is the end of the curse.

Weed, STOP RULING OVER ME! God created me to be in authority over YOU!

My heart goes out to you in this difficult affliction. But because of Christ's power in us by the Holy Spirit he can change our minds about the things that unrightfully enslave us, his people. It may take time, not because God's power is lacking in some way but because it takes time to change our minds about our obsessions with sin. It took years to be freed from my addiction to rage, but which I now see I could have been set free from day one if I knew then what it took years to learn.

Now about weed itself. Is it a sin? I think so because it's still mostly illegal, and because it has the potential to open a person up to demonic activity. Demons are solicited through mind altering substances. Not as a rule, but weed is a potential avenue through which you can become controlled by much more than just a craving for a high. But if you never do weed you'll never have to be concerned about opening up that avenue.

While I am not a medical professional, but from personal experience I can say if you stay off it a week then you are pretty much over the psychological impulse to smoke it and it becomes a decision of choice and not addiction. And thus addiction is a choice not a disease neither is it a sin but rather it is an error, IMO

So what medicinal effects does smoking marijuana have which can not be treated with other medications currently available?

I don't know what the Lord thinks of marijuana.

I'm certain though that your brain will not thank you for it down the road.

Beautiful roses, don't bloom in a day. I have been desperately, trying to become a rose, because the growing process is actually quite painful at times. Quite truthfully, I noticed that it seems to hurt the most, when I don't listen to God. When, I don't let him tell me how to ease the pain, the pain seems to hurt more. Probably, because I believe in God, but I somehow let the world make all my decisions. Then I realized, once a rose blooms, all thats left to do is die. So, I got real sick of letting the world influencing me, because the world really sucks, and thats the truth! (Because nobody knows how to treat each other anymore!) So, I started listening to God because fortunately, I believe in him. He's slowly showing me how to become who he wants me to be! As, much as I wish the process was over, if it was over I'd probably be dead, because there would be no work left to be done. But he's taught me so far, that there is so much work that needs to be done. And somebody has to be brave enough to do it! And he's on a steady course to make me that somebody. But all I can ever be is my true authentic self each and every moment of the day, which at times is so hard. But if everybody in the word knew who God was and how much he loves us anyway, we'd all be better people for it!

Humans are by nature inclined to prefer short- term reward over long- term ones.
So the then-and-there high seems (at that point) better than the future "reward" of not getting whatever long-term damaging effects weed may have.

I'd say that any addiction is bad, and that any substance that alters a persons personality even if they are not addicted to it, is bad.

See, it is so amazing to me how God speaks to me, because I literally made God a promise that I wouldn't disappoint him with my anger anymore! And I Will NOT BREAK THAT PROMISE TO HIM FOR ANYONE!! and its like the only promise on the list that I have been keeping, which is showing me that if I can keep one promise to him, There's no reason I can't keep the rest of them, but it didn't take him a day to cure me of my anger! But, I know I will be set free of all my selfish addictions, and tendencies, because I believe in his WORD! Until then, I am who I am!

Drug use is referred to in the Bible as witchcraft and sorcery.
See Galatians 5:20, Revelation 9:21 and 18:23.
The greek word there is pharmakeia.
Don't kill the messenger.

Are you talking about all addiction or just marijuana? Because I personally, don't think a herion addict, chooses to die over herion..Do they choose the herion, yes but most likely its because of all the trauma they've experienced, and the fact that they either don't know God or their just not listening to him.

I'm not going to lie, the process of patiently waiting for God sometimes gets so hard, when I don't have the proper kind of encouragement I need. For instance, I'm truly wondering if these so called "Christian" folk around me are trying to get me thrown into the pits of hell with them. Because I don't have to read the Bible to know that what they do is everything God says not to do, which is why I'm on this site. Looking for much better examples, people that actually want me to go to heaven with them and not hell. I guess to reassure me that there are still good people in the world!
