14 yrs ago not long after i got saved/ delivered, i fell into temptation with a beautiful gorgeous girl at church, asked us to have coffee with her, this lead to that, next thing i know im into a sexual relationship with her. Staying over each others place, deceiving ourselves it was ok, praying together etc. One early morning, a small, still, soft audible, clear as day voice spoke directly into my (human) ear - REPENT, thats all that voice said, Jesus??Angel??Holy Spirit??
i do know that was sent by God, thats for sure
wasnt a harsh rebuke, given with love and tenderness, that ive never forgotten nor ever will

Wow! I love all your responces. Ive been searching the scriptures and recalled one in the OT where God spoke but only those inside the Holy tent could understand, the people only heard a noise that as not disernible. Still trying to find it.
I believe the true method to diserning what is from God Our Father is that we cannot will it ourselves. This is said in the scriptures when it come to the gifts of the Spirit.
The most prominate sounds I have found in scripture is the wind, thunder, within the fire, and like a harp.
Im going to have to try and put all of it together and list it.

Although I know that what is presented by my neighbor is not scriptural, I do believe that God Our Father will speak in his will, I believe all is possible by Him. We Just have to pay attention and learn to disern.

I've smelled God too. Like mans collonge. Frankinsins I was told is the smell. Or sweet perfume. God has blown a breeze of wind to calm me in times of stress. I've heard him talk. I've seen him. I've seen the Holy Spirit. I've heard the angels sing in heaven. I've heard a trumpet from heaven. Lots of people smell the roses.
Someone said God doesn't do anything if we can't understand. I beg to differ. God does all kinds of things we don't understand.
God has taken me back in time to when he walked to the cross.
There is so much about God that we don't understand.
There are many times angels chime the chimes on my porch just to remind me they are there. Not one speck of wind what so ever.
I don't say any of this to boast. I say it in hopes you will want treasures from heaven. God wants to give you treasures but if you don't believe why should he give them.

Paul speaks of things with uncertain sounds being of no benefit for they fail to edify. To edify a thing must communicate to the understanding. God is intelligent. He created mankind in his image. He has spoken to us through the prophets, and ultimately through Jesus. He communicates through his Word.
