[h=1]Matthew 27:27-29 King James Version (KJV)[/h][SUP]27 [/SUP]Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
[SUP]28 [/SUP]And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

27 So Jesus was taken away. Jesus was willing going to the cross, the group of solders may have been there to see to it that he went to the cross instead of someone attacking Him before hand; satan didn’t want Him to die for our sins.

28 This robe was to mock Him as king as well as stripping Him was. We can either mock Jesus or be submissive to Him.

29 The crown of thorns was also to mock Him often times the world may mock us for the very things God blesses us with. The beat the crown onto His head this would have been painful and caused bleeding. Jews was and is King but not just of the Jews His kingdom is a heavenly kingdom and as Christians we are apart of His kingdom and are born into on earth as we come to faith in Him.

This was a tradition of the Roman government for someone that was convicted to die. they carried their own cross with Roman soldiers in charge of their death. It was the Roman government that sentenced him to die thinking they was doing the right thing and yet playing into the hands of the almighty God's plan.

here's my thoughts, of the mockery 6 times from the Romans,,, 3 robes and the crown of thorns,,, soldiers kneeling before Jesus mocking Him,,, forcing Simon to carry the cross behind Jesus wearing the crown of thorns,,, the notice placed above Jesus on the cross,,,

Of the elegant robe this color isn't mentioned, though IMO it was possibly of silky white radiant.

Lk23:11 Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to Pilate.

Jh19:2 The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe
Jh19:5 When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, "Here is the man!"

Mt27:28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,

Mk15:18 And they began to call out to him, "Hail, king of the Jews!"
Mk15:19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him.

Mt27:31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

Lk23:26 As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.

Jh19:19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

It was the Roman government that sentenced him to die
1 Thessalonians 2:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

You realize satan had no clue He was giving himself to die.... in fact this text seems to suggest that if he would have known he would not have allowed him to be put to death (1Co 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.)

satan is blind to truth.
Makes sense :

John 8:44 ... He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
