hmm...why would one want to memorize it?

it if of course good to read it and know what it says, but memorizing to me sounds like doing so just to do so... God cares more about your heart than how many bible verses you know :)

Yes I am sure there are plenty of people throughout history and even today who have the entire Bible memorized.

the purpose of memorizing it, is to keep it as it was revealed, to preserve God's word as it was revealed. Once you memorize a book, that book belongs to you. People can take your Holy Book and Burn it or trow it in the sea, but they can not take it out of your mind nor out of your heart.

It might be possible just really freaking hard also the quran is shorter than the NT so it's a wii bit easier to memorize than a 2000 page bible

I doubt anybody has memorized the entire Bible, though

There are Buddhist monks and Hindu priests who have memorized a whole lot more, but I think their job is significantly easier since their scriptures are written almost entirely in verse form. I guess the Psalms and Proverbs would be the easiest from the Bible?

People that memorize the whole bible oftenly are believers for they use it as our daily life verses for guidance and securities, so that we may know or decern when danger is ahead.. and mostly people who memorize the bible are mental purpose incase someday our Holy Bible might take away from us literally. and it's actually happening right now :eek:in a country somewhere in Europe, and they only remain the The Ten Commandments Law as references.. Quite scary isn't it?;)

i don't think its so much memorizing than the Holy Spirit reminding us of verses we can apply to our lives or even more so to encourage others with. Anyone can memorize anything, even if we memorize the bible the Word is only logos(written) unless we apply it to our life for then it becomes rhema(made alive by the Holy Spirit)

Satan has memorized the bible, he used it against Jesus when he tempted Jesus..

We are to have the Word of God written upon our hearts...not just our minds. Head knowledge is useless. Hence...the Muslim might have great head knowledge of their Quran, BUT the heart of God will not be found in it.

For me it would seem that having the bible memorized would make it like repetition-everytime I read i see new stuff as it is revealed by God.
besides the fact that it would be very hard to memorize (lol)

Isn't it more important to act on the word than to know the whole bible? Also wouldn't it be even better to know the word, understand it and follow it?
