Anxiety and Depression is ruining my life. Any good scriptures or books I could read would be helpful. Thank you.

I do get comfort reading the Psalms. Some of the things that the Psalmist went through, I can relate. You may too. Knowing that God has helped them through their ordeal, helps me to know He will help me through mine.

Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.[SUP] 2 [/SUP]Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares......[SUP]5 [/SUP]Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.[SUP]6 [/SUP]So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Matthew 28:[SUP]18 [/SUP]And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.......20 [SUP]20 [/SUP]Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Psalm 23 is for the living even though it is said at funerals.

How about seeing a doctor? There are tests that can be performed to determine if your depression is from bad wiring in your brain, hormonal, allergies (such as some foods we aren't aware we're allergic to), dietary, sleep, etc... Or perhaps even situational.

By the way, I have had depression for 25 years and anxiety 10 years.

My husband also suffers from these. The book of Job has helped him.
Also read Psalms 40.

Keep your head up. And I'll pray for you too.

I am sorry to read you are troubled by these things. I have been anxious at times in my life as well. God can and does comfort us if we seek Him and just tell Him how we feel and that we need Him to fill us.

we can go through times like these, but God can use them in our lives to help us learn to apply His word to our lives and trust in Him no matter how we feel. God does not change from day to day but our emotions can wreck havoc in our life, so saying His word out loud, with the promises of how He loves us, keeps us and we can entrust our lives to Him, can change how we feel instead of allowing how we 'feel' to run our lives

here are some scriptures that may help you. I pray they do.

1. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

2. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:

the following from Philippians is very helpful

3. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

4. “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” John 14:27

another really great one to repeat out loud is

5. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

16. “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

I agree you need to see a doctor to find out if there is anything organic wrong with you. Sometimes, you do not have enough neurotransmitters in the brain. Medication can help. You might try Christian therapy, too!

First of all, welcome to the forum.

second, I agree with Ugly, post no. 3.

What are you waiting for to get to a doctor? Your family doctor will most probably be able to help you if it's simple depression.

I only say "simple" because there are other disorders out there much worse, NOT to belittle it.

I speak from experience.... Take your pill every day and also read from the bible.
God made plants and pills for us to be able to heal.
Thank Him that they're available !

Do this soon, since it takes weeks for them to kick in.

Holy Spirit come upon him.
The Holy Spirit does not answer prayers and since He is in any believer, it is hypocrisy to ask for that when He is in us.

Jesus is at that throne of grace and it is by Him, we have access to God the Father. There is no other way to approach God the Father by in prayer, fellowship, and worship.

When I went through a bad depression about 15 years ago, due to the pain of untreated Rheumatoid Arthritis, God told me to read 5 psalms a day. It took a while for me to obey, but God blessed me richly through just reading the Psalms, over and over.

I would say you could not do wrong to read the psalms, and hear what God is saying in them!

he is a liar and a deceiver, and preys on our weaknesses -
take your courage back and totally dedicate, immerse yourself
in God's Holy, Spiritual, Word, for His Words are real and alive and
will give you all of the strength and courage you will ever need to over-come
all the fire-darts of the 'wicked-one'...

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again- rejoice!

Cast all your anxieties on Him- for He cares for you.

Never again will they shed a tear, hunger, cry, thirst, grow old, or have any pain of any kind- for the old order of things shall be done away with (physicality and temptation).

Let the wheat (righteous) grow with the weeds (unrighteous) for now, until the harvest day (judgement day).

Whoever would follow after Me must take up his cross daily.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind can conceive what God has prepared for those who love Him.

Be still, and know that I am God.
