What you espouse is actually very, very complicated.....perhaps convoluted describes it better.

I can just imagine Jesus trying to explain all this to Nicodemus when they met in that evening....

"Nicodemus after you are born again....to show you love me keep the Sabbath, that is the one law that is very very important because when you are born again you need to show me that you love me....because I am very needy that way and keeping the Sabbath is the proof I need.... now come to think of it there are also these feast days...I think you should do those too, here I will give you a list....":D
I guess Jesus forgot to tell us all this?
Hi UG,

Why would Jesus need to do that? Nicodemus was a Jewish lawyer. He was already keeping the Sabbath as were all of Israel over many generations since the 10 commandments were given at the time of Moses. Jesus does however say "If you love me keep the commandments (John 14:15). The feast days and burnt offerings are part of the ceremonial laws of Moses pointing to Jesus that were nailed to the cross (Col 2:14). We no longer need to keep them

God bless you

Jesus changed my life the day I trusted in Him as the ALL-sufficient means of my salvation. Of course I love Jesus and I follow Jesus because I love Him. Unfortunately, many people misinterpret the Word of God, create their own self righteous works system and call that following Jesus.
That is great, mailmandan. I never doubted it at all. Jesus says "If you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15). Not because we can but because if you believe His Word he will work in us and change us so that we can follow him the same way we received him, by faith.

And this is also getting to be a boring response!
Without any proof you are trying to imply this statement of Jesus is specifically referring to the ten commandments - and you cannot!

He sure does and just a bit earlier in that book He tells us what those commandments are...

I think the question is why didn't He, because He knew the law would be fulfilled.

Interesting that Nicodemus did not even bring pose any questions about law keeping.

No matter, I think you need to dig a little deeper into the point that Jesus was making because you make everything a law.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (Jn 14:15)
A law keeper reads this backwards....
“You will keep my commandments if you love me.”

Hi FlSnookman7

How are you. So nice to meet you.

Absolutely, this is part of the same 2 commandments given by Jesus quoting from the Old Testament
(Deut 6:5; Lev 19:18) .

Mat 22: 36,
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Mat 22:37, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mat 22:38,
This is the first and great commandment.

Mat 22:39, And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mat 22:40, On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The first 4 commandments show our duty towards God (Ex 20:1-11) the second 6 commandments show our duty towards our neighbor (Ex 20:11-17). These are our schoolmaster that bring us to Jesus. They show us that we are sinners in need of salvation and lead us to the foot of the cross so we can meet Jesus by faith so the he can write these laws in our heart (Heb 8:10-12). We love Him because He first loved us. It is only through Love that we can follow God. This is the operation and work of God in us so that we can follow Him who loved us and washed us in His Own blood. This is why Jesus says if you love me keep my commandments.

God bless

Hi UnderGrace,

Absolutely!! This is all I have been saying. It is God who works in us (Phil 13) because we love him and have faith in God's Word. As we believe God this is what it means to walk in the Spirit (new mind) (Rom 8: 1-13) so that we can love Jesus and follow him. Back soon guys lunch time my end. My belly is grumpy

God bless you all:rolleyes:
Greetings lovegodforever

Philip 2-13 has to be in coupled with Phip 2-12....By working out our own salvation (human effort required) striving to enter therein, do we receive "energeo", from God, His energizing(grace), working in us...Philp. 2-12,13 is descriptive of man working together with God to bring about a relationship of love that cannot be obtained by any other means.....be blessed......

Hi willybob,

Absolutely, Everyone of us needs to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling because the hour of God's judgement has come (Rev 14:7). Salvation can only be found in Jesus through the Word of God. We are all given a free will to choose to believe and follow God or not to believe his Word. He asks us to believe and follow His Word. Salvation is a gift of God that we either accept by faith or Not. If we do not believe God's Word and choose not to follow Him it is our own choosing. God only works in us as we believe His Word. By faith we are saved through faith and not of yourselves it is a gift of God (Eph 2:8).

God bless

All works-based / works-righteousness belief systems always get the gospel and the things of Christ backwards - one is trying to obtain your own righteousness by what you do or don't do. That is not the gospel of the grace of God in Christ.

It's a false gospel that actually nullifies the very grace of God needed to walk in this world when we come to Christ.

Romans 10:2-5 (NASB)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.

[SUP]3[/SUP] For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

[SUP]4 [/SUP] For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

[SUP]5 [/SUP] For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.

The law is based on "What you do or don't do" to obtain and maintain righteousness which is what all works-based religions are based on.

Philippians 3:9 (NASB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,

The gospel is the righteousness of God revealed.

Romans 1:16-17 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

[SUP]17 [/SUP] For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

If you loved Jesus and believed the word of God you would say too that Christians are sinning and dis-obeying God if they don't follow the Old Testament way of the Sabbath.

That deceiving spirit that has deceived his mind is manipulative but we are not ignorant of the enemies devices nor will we desert our Lord either and commit spiritual adultery on Him. Nor will we stand idly by while the gospel is being perverted in the attempts of this spirit to "bewitch" us as Paul talks about in Galatians.

If it is works of the Spirit it is not a works based salvation, for it does not come from the flesh,so we cannot glory, and boast of those works, and we did not do those works while in the flesh,so this is what is required of us,for if we do not do those works then we are rebellious against God.

Quench not the Spirit, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, and if you do not continue in the goodness of God you will be cut off.

That is because we still have a choice while claiming Christ, for if we did not then we would not be tempted to sin,so after we receive the Spirit then the responsibility falls on us,and if we choose not to do those works then we are rebellious against God,and then how are we spiritual if we do not do the works of the Spirit.

For if they say they will do works as a result of being saved, then they have to explain the hypocrisy among them, that believe the prosperity Gospel, which God said if they teach that withdraw yourself from them, having food, and clothing,be content, and the love of God does not dwell in them, and they erred from the faith, and their faith is dead.

And how do they explain they cannot abstain from sin, when the Bible says if they hate sin,and do not want sin,by the Spirit they can abstain from sin,and sin does not affect their relationship with God,which if they sin wilfully, and hold unto sin,the blood of Christ cannot wash it away, and the Bible says do not depart from the living God,by the deceitfulness of sin.

1Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

1Co 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Righteousness is as righteousness does, and to not abstain from sin is to depart from the living God.

Faith alone, not saved by works, when we confess Christ for that is all we can do being in the flesh.

Faith without works is dead, and a person is justified by works, and not faith alone, after we receive the Spirit, for the responsibility falls on us to make the choice to keep doing right.

No person can say Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Ghost, and a person that claims Jesus Christ is come in flesh is of God.

So if OSAS says we are chosen then everybody that claims that Jesus is Lord, and come in flesh, would be chosen too, even if they do not believe OSAS,because God is working in their life, and if God chooses who will be saved, and not saved, then God would not work in their life unless they were chosen.

But many are called, but few are chosen, which God does the calling, and choosing on earth, which explains how God can work in many people's lives, but they not be chosen, and not everybody that says Lord will dwell with Jesus, and means that the OSAS people have to do right or they will not make it.

Great post MattforJesus!

Nice scripture provided as well. In summary God's salvation is salvation from sin. Not in sin. Sin is the transgression of God's Law. If we break it then it is a sign that we are NOT following God. We must follow the Word of God over the teachings of men.

commit spiritual adultery

who s mind is deceived, if it forms, new wording or new definitions, to the bible,

paul is taking to jewish converts in galatians. hes talking to the apostle and is a jewish convert .

you either heed ,them warning, or you continue in blindness, either way, it is your personal choice.

Paul Opposes Peter
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.Galatians 2

if he stood condemned, what was condemning him.

Galatians 3: By Faith, or by Works of the Law?
1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?

25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.(this would be when a temple of stone was still erected )4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

you do not need, to change the wording of the bible, it is all there, and in context to them, that can see.

Hi Grace777,

You are a funny one indeed with all your witchcraft, secret codes, Judazing spirits, spiritual manipulations, conspiracy theories, deceiving spirits, mind manipulations, enemy devices, spiritual adulteries etc etc.
All these things are not the Gospel of Christ. May I suggest you seek Jesus and read the bible :) Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks... Jesus says you shall know them by their fruits. With all respect, if all the above is your Gospel, I do not want any part of it. Do you love Jesus Grace777? Love is the fruit of the Spirit of God. The Words that I speak unto you they are Spirit and they are life.

I must go back to work have a nice day everyone. Chat latter

...the saints have been warned and the Holy Spirit will reveal Christ to all of us and what He has done already done for us. Jesus is our true Sabbath rest. All of creation speaks of Him and of His work for us who believe.

We have a great salvation in Him. He is the life, He is the truth, He is the way. Accept no substitutes...:)

I wonder if Paul was operating in love when he exposed the Judaizing spirit for what it truly was that came to the Galatians to distort the gospel and to "bewitch" them?

Paul was very zealous over protecting the gospel of the grace of God in Christ's work. Many of us are too...:)
