1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy...........[SUP]12 [/SUP]Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

Paul is saying that over all spiritual gifts, seek the gift of prophesy which is edifying other believers as the men are to do in church and women can do this outside the church in ministry outreach from their homes and social gatherings and in christian forums and elsewhere on the internet.

The men can also edify outside the church and in social gatherings and the internet also, but they are commanded to teach in the church since the women are commanded not to teach or to even speak in the church. More on that topic at this link to that thread.

http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/154951-gods-commandment-women-not-speak-church.html

Anyway, if any of you out there that are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek the gift of prophesy to edify one another.

You can ask Jesus Christ for it. He is the One that answers prayers so that the Father may be glorified in the Son for answered prayers.

John 14:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me....[SUP]13 [/SUP]And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.[SUP]14 [/SUP]If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

It is a gift of the Spirit, but you receiving it from the Spirit is by way of the Son and the Holy Spirit will give that credit & glory to the Son for you having that gift.

John 16:[SUP]13 [/SUP]Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.[SUP] 14 [/SUP]He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.[SUP]15 [/SUP]All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

That is where all the fruits of the Spirit comes from.

Philippians 1:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:....[SUP]11 [/SUP]Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

So that is where all the gifts of the Spirit comes from; by way of Jesus Christ as only He answers prayers so that the Father may be glorified in the Son for answers to prayers.

So ask Jesus Christ at that throne of grace for the gift of prophesy if you are zealous for spiritual gifts.

I'm thinking "zealous for gifts" isn't quite where our zealousness ought to be.

Why can't someone be zealous for both without mentioning the other? He's bring up gifts right now. 1 topic at a time... Is there anywhere besides 2 that it's written"I don't want you ignorant" enemies ways and also when writing about the gifts.. We need love yes.. But the body doesn't grow apart from the gifts... Paul wrote not be ignorant of them

Granted, but do note that as following the love chapter of 1 Corinthians 13, Paul begins chapter 14 in this wise..

Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy...........[SUP]12 [/SUP]Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

So yes... Christ's love is paramount in following after, but when zealous for spiritual gifts which is what the topic was about, seek the gift of prophesy as it is also Christ's love to edify one another.

Anyone zealous for spiritual gifts should also be zealous for unity.
Since it is Christ's love to edify one another, then those who speak in tongues in the assembly, should be praying that someone else may interpret that tongue so that the tongue speaker can be edified in Christ's love as well.

That is true unity in the body of Christ. It is not unity to have tongues without interpretation in the body of Christ.

Sure, and after algebra there is trigonometry. But trig is useless without knowing the algebra first. I haven't seen evidence you know 1 Cor. 13:1-4 enough to trust you to teach me 1 Cor. 14.

(And feel free to consider that prophecy -- aka a Word of Wisdom.)

Paul also talked about not following people.

Oh wait. We can't teach them love first until we preach the gospel to them for them to be saved first.

1 John 4:
[SUP]19 [/SUP]We love him, because he first loved us.

So like, it is impossible for any one to love God until they are saved because He loved us first.

Now.. if that sarcasm has not been lost on you... yours was not on me.

I haven't seen evidence you know 1 Cor. 13:1-4 enough to trust you to teach me 1 Cor. 14.
No man can teach any one. We can only be led by the Spirit to teach whereas the hearers can only confirm by the Spirit what is true and what is not true as only God can cause the increase.

1 John 2:[SUP]20 [/SUP]But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.[SUP]21 [/SUP]I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.....[SUP]26 [/SUP]These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.[SUP] 27 [/SUP]But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1 Corinthians 3:[SUP]5 [/SUP]Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?[SUP] 6 [/SUP]I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.[SUP]7 [/SUP]So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Nothing I said was not true. You were just being sarcastic and disrespectful, but I forgive you.

(And feel free to consider that prophecy -- aka a Word of Wisdom.)
Your signature below pretty much prophesied for you of not being a lady. That does make me understand the level of sarcasm & disrespect thus lacking Christ's love that was shown towards me.

Lynn

Still woman, but no lady.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Rom. 8:28

If you do not want to respect the scripture, then I certainly cannot expect any respect from you to me.

Thanks for sharing your earlier post about being zealous for His love to manifest in us as being a priority over before being zealous for spiritual gifts. Apparently, we all need to do that constantly, including you & me, but I put my trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to do His work in me.

It says in the KJV in the very first verse...

Feel free to share your version, but just know I rely on the the Lord Jesus Christ as the final authority on what His words actually meant. So should you.

This is why tongue speakers are reading verse 2 out of context when Paul was comparing the gift of tongues against the gift of prophesy as to why to seek the gift of prophesy over all spiritual gifts, because tongues is not a stand alone gift.

If you do not know the faith that He is in you always.... then you are at risk of being an adulterous generation seeking after a sign of some feeling in the flesh that He is here at a certain moment in time when you should know He is in you always.

Just saying the truth here. He is in you always, sister. Please know that. You do not need a sign from God to know that the Holy Spirit is in you. You have His written words and His promise that He is in you and is with you always.

1 Corinthians 6:[SUP]19 [/SUP]What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?[SUP] 20 [/SUP]For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

2 Corinthians 13:
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

I hear what you're saying.. Some think it's spiritual to show they have tongues and operate out of order, that's ignorance but not necessarily false tongues.. unity I'm talking about does not claim some are not right just because they don't think so.. 1Cor 12:4 says there are diversities of gifts but the same spirit, differences in administration but the same Lord, diversities in operation but the same God..

There is ALSO disunity when believers proclaim that they had received the Holy Spirit separate from salvation in how they got that tongue which they believe is the prayer language of the Holy Spirit for why it comes without interpretation.

Those who preach such a thing and that kind of tongue, breaks from the testimony we all are suppose to share below.

1 Corinthians 12:
[SUP]13 [/SUP]For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 1:[SUP]9 [/SUP]God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.[SUP]10 [/SUP]Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Pretty much the problem right in that first sentence. You think you're ready to "teach them" when you haven't learned the subject yourself. This isn't sarcasm. This is reality.

You think you're up to teaching level? You aren't. You think you're talking for God. His word does that. You think you've been zealously practicing love the last week? Honestly? Maybe you have been, but not on this forum.

As for me not being a lady? Not a prophecy. Something I let people know about me up front, so there is no surprise. Then again, you're no gentlemen either. So what?

I respect scripture. I don't respect you enough to think it's okay for you to be playing the part of teacher.

Try not to confuse the two. (And, for the record, that last sentence WAS sarcasm.)

And you just saying so is not proving it, sister.

You think you're up to teaching level? You aren't. You think you're talking for God. His word does that. You think you've been zealously practicing love the last week? Honestly? Maybe you have been, but not on this forum.
And what exactly have you been doing in practicing love in the forum? By not correcting one another by the scripture? How does that work?

As for me not being a lady? Not a prophecy. Something I let people know about me up front, so there is no surprise. Then again, you're no gentlemen either. So what?
Thing was.. your signature told me what spirit you were in when doing your sarcasm. Your first reply was led by the Spirit. Your other replies were not. ... and you know it. Then if you are not led by the Spirit then that was not practicing Christ's love in the forum. So own your own hypocrisy now, sister.

I respect scripture. I don't respect you enough to think it's okay for you to be playing the part of teacher.
Without saying why or proving your point ... again.. just saying so hardly makes your case nor any correction given my way.

You might as well say.. you are not a christian without saying why. Get the point?

You say I am not a teacher and yet you say nothing to prove it or correct me by other than just saying so. That is you failing as a teacher in return.

Try not to confuse the two. (And, for the record, that last sentence WAS sarcasm.)
Whenever you get off of your high horse and actually be led by the Spirit to edify & reprove again...please return and post again, sister. You can be led by Him as evident in your first reply to me. Leave the gender chip off of your shoulder. It ills becomes you in the ministry and does not work together for the good for those who are called according to His purpose.

All you are saying to me is shut up and never post again as for someone who has no business teaching. Oh yeah... Christ's love can be shown to me in that way. That was real sarcasm.

I am not telling you that you can't teach me or others. Did I not "like" your first reply in this thread?

But I am telling you that you cannot teach others by not showing the error nor the correction, but just doling out judgments with no scripture to stand on. So knock it off, stop trying to save face for being a bully by being more of a bully, and teach righteously in this forum or continue to persecute me for without a cause.

2 Timothy 3:
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.[SUP] 13 [/SUP]But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.[SUP] 14 [/SUP]But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;[SUP]15 [/SUP]And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.[SUP] 16 [/SUP]All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:[SUP]17 [/SUP]That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Ephesians 4:[SUP]11 [/SUP]And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;[SUP] 12 [/SUP]For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:[SUP] 13 [/SUP]Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:[SUP]14 [/SUP]That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;[SUP]15 [/SUP]But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Better believe when He has made you & I perfect in Heaven, I will be a gentleman and you will be a lady. He can do His work in us down here to conform to the image of His Son when we trust Him to.

So take a deep breath, exhale, and start over. If you refuse and carry on your bullying, don't expect me to reason with you any more when you are the one being unreasonable at this moment in time.

What about the anointing that comes upon one? That is what I am speaking of.

The anointing is what we seek after or His Presence with us. I know we have Him within, but we can have Him alongside too.

Dunamis
The anointing of Whom you identified as the Holy Spirit is the One you had received at your salvation when you first came to & believed In Jesus Christ.

To imply or to say directly that the anointing is separate is to set yourself apart from other believers in sharing this testimony with them below.

1 Corinthians 12:[SUP]13 [/SUP]For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

There can be no receiving the Holy Spirit again for that would mean another drink of the One Spirit which we were not all baptized by.

As for having His Presence alongside of us... 1 John 4:3-4 puts the Holy Spirit in us and the spirit of the antichrist outside of us.

1 John 4:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.[SUP]4 [/SUP]Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The first part of that verse is like saying that Jesus Christ is outside of us and around us which is basically what you are saying where the Holy Spirit is too, but to do so makes it impossible for you to test the spirits outside of you when you place the Holy Spirit being outside of you too.

The Holy Spirit does not need to be outside of you. Him being in you is as close to the Holy Spirit any believer can be.. and certainly not outside of us where the spirit of the antichrist is.
