Oh Good Grief???

Jesus didn't come to divide?

Have you read Mathew 10:32-36 and Beyond.

Jesus came to divide the world between those who would believe in Him and those who would not.
He came to set up His Kingdom.
Some are in the Kingdom.
Some are not in the Kingdom.

If that isn't division, I don't know what is.

Maybe you'd like to explain Mathew 10 to us?

Jesus said He would draw all men to Him?
But not all are drawn.

And thus is the dividing line.

He is the Light.
Some are in the Light.
Some are in the Darkness.

That is also a dividing line.

He DIVIDES humanity in every way.

Fran we are not going to agree

you do seem to offer contradictory posts to any and all and I am not interested because life is too short to enter into a fray with you

I am sure you will understand

however, I will say that Jesus does not divide humanity. that is a humanistic approach to a spiritual conclusion and it does not work

Jesus came to give peace.

Interesting EG.

How come we don't even have peace here on a Christian site?
How do you explain this?

Maybe she she does not know it, that's why she hates it so much?
I think Lynn knows truth. Just doesn't want to see the arguments. Well, Paul and Peter argued. Paul and Barnabus I think it was argued and split. Might be wrong on Barnabus but was someone. Maybe Silas.

Not going to look. Got bigger fish to fry.

So everything is terrible. What do you suggest? I like the forum. Who exactly gets to judge "The Light" in dcontroversal's great topic about salvation being not of works? We do not know a man's heart, but I think he was sincere.
Did you read the OP? Your question was answered before you even knew it was a question.

oh good grief

actually, Jesus came as THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD but men love the darkness

Jesus did not come to divide. divides happen naturally because people have free choice (sorry Lynn, love you anyways, we don't see that quite the same but that's ok)

funny, when Jesus said if we lift Him up, He will draw all men (mankind) to Him

let's remember, He is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD and not the great divide
The image I had at your first two words.

(And, you'll be happy to know I do believe we have free choice. :p)

I'm sorry to mention it:

for judgement I have come?

HE further elaborated by saying that in those (who can't see, though they claim to) is the prophecy of Isaiah fulfilled

YES HE came not to bring peace but division and it is because some do not believe

for those whose faith is in HIM, there is peace

just not as the world gives it (or even considers peace)
... and what is that divide? Light and darkness. ;)

I did, But as usual you cut my post up. Why do you continue to do such things, That is not being honest.

but his enemy is against that peace, so what he brought has and will cause war and division, because of its very message.
The message of truth hurts, so it will cause war and division, because people do not like ot hear it, Or think they have it.. when they do not.

Calvin believed in free choice too. Hard to be a human without choosing freely. We merely only choose from among the things we can think of or want. And God was never something we thought about or wanted.

That would be something like me going to the grocery store to pick out something for diner. And, among my choices could have been liver.

Except, no. It couldn't. Because I already know I HATE liver, so wouldn't even see it to make the decision to avoid it, and it wouldn't come to my mind as a possibility. (I have been at the meat section in a grocery store at least once a week for 39 years, and recall seeing liver once or twice way back when. I'm sure I pass it. I just am not looking for it to see it. lol) I'm still choosing freely, but only within my perception of choices.

dassa interesting answer

yet the Bible says we have no excuse in Romans 1 because that which is visible declares the invisible (my paraphrase)

so on it goes

I'm wired a little different. I tend to go looking for what is not there. like I know there must be something else.

I stay out of the choice no choice debates so no worries

I understand your illustration

only when it sheds light on our lies...:p

personally, I would rather know the truth then live in deception and think it's all good

I'm not responding to what you said; I'm just thinking out loud...throwing it out there

It does when you are proud. People do not like to be told what they really are. As the bible says, it is sharper than a two edged sword, it pierces. It slices right through the pride. and if you do not like it you either ignore it, act like it is not there, or you fight it with all you have, One of the most useful ways to fight is to make small half truths, which appear to be truth, but in reality is not.

Thats what you see here in CC,, usually two groups. diametrically apposed to each others. Fighting tooth and nail

The part that hurts? they can not both be right.
