Before you go making extravagant claims about the meaning of a verse - it helps to read it first, in context!
Whose traditions and what context need to be understood first!

I think there should be a healthy balance of learning from God directly (however you want to put it) and learning from people you trust who walk with God.
Let's not forget Paul exhorted Timothy to teach.

I personally have found, the greatest things that I have been taught that have stuck in my heart are things that Holy Spirit has taught me Himself.
Teachings from a person has spurred me on and/or convicted me to learn the truth about a matter.. We could even say God is talking through the person at the time.

Part of tradition is what people have learned and passed on to younger generations. The wisdom of the old can save young people a lot of trouble. That doesn't mean that all old people have any sense.

AMEN....Paul was clear to Timothy....Teach faithful men who in turn can teach faithful men who in turn......etc....it is not wrong or contrary to the truth to learn or glean truth from another man/woman.......yes the Spirit opens your eyes to said truth, but from the beginning God has been using imperfect men to teach his perfect message....

[for me anyway] I absolutely agree, for even Paul said when He received revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ, he did not consult with men (mankind) but with scripture only and exclusively, the Old, but also the Words of Christ especially. Beside that, David also whenever he had a situation or when he committed sin, he consulted God only, and never adviser's, which is why God called David a man after His own heart. Also in (1 John 2:27) God's Word tells us exactly that the Spirit of Truth (the anointing) is who teaches us all things, and that we need not that any person teach us: unfortunately many cannot reach the point of actually trusting the Spirit of God, but continue trusting natural instincts such as the tradition of only listening to what someone says about God and Christ and the Gospel, while they themselves never bother to find out how the true Jesus Christ really is, which we may know by what He says, and not what another says about Him.

Well I guess that would hinge on rather a person believes there is a traditional way of learning, Take The four gospels mark Luke John Matthew is nothing but a game of 52 pick up, they don't line up at all it's all over the place. lol

Jesus is telling these Kenite scribes and Pharisees that this is just one example of how your tradition make to none effect the Word of God.

There are many other such things that you do that is just as bad in making void the Word of God. You can see now why Jesus has warned His disciples of the religious customs and practices of these Pharisees that crept in as leaven in to make void the truth of God's Word.

If you wonder how your church stacks up in accordance with the Word of God, a child can answer that for you. Is the Word of God taught in your church chapter by chapter and verse by verse? line upon line and precept upon precept with understanding?

Or do you have some super preacher that demonstrates his knowledge of the world and their traditions, standing Sunday after Sunday and never really getting around to a complete in-depth study of God's Word? He may pick up the Bible, but if it is not taught as God instructs, he is nothing but a hireling.

The wolf in sheep's' clothing, standing before the flock and leading the sheep into another pasture. When you leave the service, ask yourself, What did he talk about? what was the subject, and how did he apply it to the Word?

Is your teacher teaching so that you will understand, or is he putting on a show to entertain your mind? Is the Subject Christ and what is in the Word, or is it something of this world?

Stop and look at our communities today, most every corner in the community has a little church house, and the question that comes to mind is what is being taught there? Traditions or the Word of God?

God looks at adultery in the same light as idolatry.

Jesus bride is supposed to be faithful to Him, and when they go chasing after all the things of their traditions. they become unfaithful brides, they become nothing but whores in the eyes of God.

This is said to educate you in the feelings of God's love and devotion to His own.

The are only about two or possibly three bibles that explain it as it should have been or at least spoken by the prophet. the Aramiac bible is one of them that got it some what correct.

The tradition that Mark used to teach aka captain crunch is atrocious, he condensed things down way to much, probably because of the attention spand of his audience, did he do this to please the masses, I don't know but the gospel of Mark is mostly Mr. Crunchy.

What those four dudes were reading from never seemed to get preserved for what ever reason, surely it was a beatiful collection that got torn to pieces among them.

Don't you think you should look at the whole thought instead of a partial sentence?

Another possibility is that Matt 27:9 relates to something that was spoken by Jeremiah, as opposed to what was written in Zechariah.

The verse reads as following in the Complete Jewish Bible:

Matthew 27:9-10 Then what Yirmeyahu the prophet spoke was fulfilled, "And they took the thirty silver coins, which was the price the people of Isra’el had agreed to pay for him, and used them to buy the potter’s field, just as the Lord directed me."
