Not necessarily... some people stop for years and then pick up thinking surely it is okay by now after all that time (the great delusion of being able to "drink like normal people" from chapter three of the AA big book, did you read it?) and find themselves right back where they ended up, & then some. But again, it is up to you to determine if you have a problem with alcohol or not :)
I'm sure that does happen quite a lot! If it does, or the 2-3 beers begins to be 5-6, the drinking stops again. No questions asked. I quit cold turkey before and I will do it again. Plus my wife would knock it out of me just to make sure.

God says that eating meat sacrificed to idols is fine,
I feel the need to post the following scripture.

Acts 15:29
That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Acts 21:25
As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

Revelation 2:14
But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Revelation 2:20
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

1 Corinthians 8 & 10 are the only ones concerning eating meat sacrificed to idols being fine (as long as you believe you can).

Oh well, with a wife like that you're safe! You should have mentioned her first and none of us would have worried.

That's awesome. A lot of people can't find that happy medium. I'm glad you have been able to find your balance. I pray that more would be able to.

But, you have been warned about the BDF, right? Enough time in here will drive anyone to drink ;)
I have, lol! Thank you. ;)

Yeah I should have. Shes actually the one who gave me the go ahead. She said you can drink a beer or two but don't buy any soju (Korean vodka more or less) that she knows i bought and mixed with me beer. She wouldn't talk to me if she finds out I bought the hard stuff.

A brother? no, no brother of mine would act like a hypocrite and demand people do things he refused to do himself,

As I said, he has been doing hat since I first met him.
And there you go..... jabbing again. Stepping on dissenters to elevate himself.

It seems that it's not so much about winning as looking higher than others.

If it is so wrong to drink wine or beer (in moderation) why did Jesus drink it is all I'm trying to understand? I think there is a freedom in Christianity, and I bet Jesus was WAY more down to earth than people think He was. He was labeled a "winebibber". You don't get that label for drinking juice. Did He get drunk, no. But he had a little. Why would the Bible make so many reference to enjoying wine if it was so bad? I think it all comes down to your individual conscience.

I was reluctant at first because I did have a problem with it as I already admitted. But for those that don't know me, don't know how stubborn I can be! I quit cold turkey the first time around, and I have strong will power when I want to. If I tell myself no more than 2-3, believe me I will keep it to 2-3. Yet no one here gives me the benefit of the doubt, and I'm already being called a weak-willed drunk with no chance.
You said you quit cold turkey. Yup. You've got strong will. When you quit, what did you tell yourself then? Was it "Never again?" Was it "For X number of years?" Is there a third choice I don't know? (Honest questions.)

And, now that you've picked it up again, is it "when I want to," or is it, "when I need to" or "when I have no other choice?"

Truthful, I could care less about how willed you are. We are all sinners saved by God, not saved by our wills. And we weren't saved by our wills because we have the same tract records -- "failed at will." Either we will to do something or we don't. And if we do will it then we have the cancellation clause in large print -- "When I want to" -- staring right in our face as the exit strategy, if our wills fail, yet again.

Are you a drunk? Nope. Not unless you're lying, and it sure doesn't sound like you are. Does that matter? Apparently to you. Will you become a drunk? No idea. But, considering this all comes down to your will and what you want, instead of God's will and what he wants, does that matter either?

You absolutely know why you wrote that first post. Page 4, post 88, and what are you doing? You're defending yourself, instead of asking what God's will is.

Good quote you have there --

“There's a way to preach the Bible unbiblically...You can use the Bible as the springboard for all kinds of ideas, can't you? Look around in here and find something that fits your fancy and then launch a rocket off it. People say, 'That was amazing, wasn't it? Remarkable what he got out of that.' Well of course it is, because he put it in before he got it out.”

I really dont appreciate being called a legalistic Pharisee. :) I dont see where alcohol has improved anyones life. Ive seen first hand what can be done to families because of alcohol abuse. Its easy for you to say drink in moderation, but the OP clearly has an issue and should not be drinking. For an alcoholic the first drink is what starts a lifelong addiction. You dont know till you take the first sip. So why would you bother to drink at all? Now if people want to drink in moderation thats between them and the Lord. I dont know many people who can actually do that. But the OP has an issue and should be encouraged to stay away from drink.
It's Denadii. We're all legalistic Pharisees compared to him!

Wow. The way you're talking in this post makes me glad I'm not your next door neighbor.
