When I posted the poll about "Does God Heal," I was sure of the results. This time, I'm not so sure, but I think I know. And, yes, only one answer for a reason. There is only one answer. All I'm doing is checking to see if everyone knows the answer. So, no need to preach to answerers. All I'm doing is checking to see if any preaching is required.

Jesus is the actual means of our salvation (Romans 3:24). His finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save believers. No supplements needed. Faith is the instrumental means by which we receive eternal life (Ephesians 2:8).

His name is literally "Salvation"

And Jesus said to him,
Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
(Luke 19:9-10)

For thus says the Lord GOD:
"
Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness."
(Ezekiel 34:11-12)

there is One God and One God alone

The poll is nice, but there is way more involved it seems.....the reason I say this is because of the following....

a. Jesus does the saving<--Call his name Jesus for he will save his people from their sins

b. The result of faith<--If you believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved

c. Applicable because of grace<--By God's grace are you saved though faith

d. Based upon the will of the Heavenly Father<--If it be possible let this cup pass from me, Not my will but thy will be done

e. Drawn by the Spirit<--No man comes unto the SON unless drawn of the Father

f. Enlightened by the word<--Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God

Do you realize you took Jesus out of some of the equation there? You added "my call" + "my belief."

There is call and there is belief, but not from our abilities. Those were things God had to give us too. Those are his gifts, not our contributions. Everything about salvation is the Lord's doing.

It's kind of like what Ed and his friends did for us. They gave us things we had been praying for decades about but couldn't do ourselves. And then when they did, it would be wrong to tell our neighbors we paid for it. (Our neighbors know. :))

Nope, completely God given. God gave Ed the desire to do it, the friends who joined in on the desire, a friend (Rich) who had the savvy to persuade others to give the materials, others who knew how to do the work, and then, God put us in just the right situation at the right time not to turn down the offer. He even arranged it that two insomniacs were not in the sleep-in-day part of our cycles, (which is a miracle right there lol), that as often as one or the other of us is having a bad day, that day was a good day for both of us, AND roughly a dozen others who have their own lives and problems could still go on that one particular day.

God gave us salvation, and because of who he is, I will follow him like a puppy. I will believe in him because he has proved himself to be trustworthy in all things. Including, and mostly, in salvation. The cause is God. The effect is God. We're here for the joy that is God! And because of him, we will tell the world what he has done! Not what we did to earn it... because we did nothing to earn him anymore than John and I earned what God did for us through Ed and gang.

God gives. We happily and humbly accept.

ooh! you said "equation" ;)
((overly long, esoteric post goes here showing that Romans 10:17 is a set of mathematically smooth functions therefore the inverse composite exists and is also differentiable))

i thought that {
d, e, f} make it very plain that it is the will and the work of God, who leaves none of His will undone ((Isaiah 46:10 goes here)).

lemmee explain my thinking:

d. Based upon the will of the Heavenly Father<--If it be possible let this cup pass from me, Not my will but thy will be done

e. Drawn by the Spirit<--No man comes unto the SON unless drawn of the Father

f. Enlightened by the word<--Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God
these are all wrapped up here:

. . so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
(Isaiah 55:11)

it is the word of His mouth that accomplishes His will ((Genesis 1 goes here)), not that which hears His word. and He makes the ear that hears ((Proverbs 20:12 goes here)). that's
f - hearing comes from the Word, and faith comes through hearing. the composite: faith comes from the Word of God. faith in Christ comes from Christ; that's e. the purpose that is accomplished by His word is His own desire, all of it, so it is His will that is done, and it does not fail. d.
and of course, Jesus Christ is the Word ((John 1 assumed throughout)).

Yeah I did not see MY anything in the post I made.....but I did see 9 references to God and referenced or quoted 6 scriptures that bear out biblically everything I said.....so.......?????? And in the poll stated JESUS saves.....and I have even been argued against on this site when saying it is the faith of Christ that saves us...make no mistake...I fully believe it is ALL GOD/JESUS

But before one answers the question, one should define what we are being saved from. People are always looking to what happens after we die. But I believe the Lord is concerned about here and now. We can get ourselves into an amazing amount of trouble right in this lifetime.

And so it is, the Lord rescues us from those troubles when we turn to him. And again. And again. But he expects us to learn from our mistakes, so that as we grow older, he doesn’t need to keep getting us out of trouble. Indeed, Paul mentions working out our own salvation:

[12] Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
[13] for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Phil 2:12-13 RSV

As for what happens after we die, have some faith.

Jesus AND faith

If it was only faith (belief), but no Jesus, then obviously it would be futile
If it was only Jesus, no further requirement, all humans that have ever existed would be saved

I might add obedience to the equation.

I'm not quite there yet, but I'm generally moving toward the reformed view on this matter. I recognize that there was nothing in me that inclines me toward God. Whatever parts of this process were of me, they were because of Him working in me first. If I have faith, it is because Jesus built faith within me. If it is my choice, it is because Jesus changed me to choose Him. If I have knowledge, it is because Jesus gave me that knowledge.

I'd go on, but I think you get the point. The only reason I am saved is because Jesus saved me.

I agree completely, but we should take this one step further. Jesus HIMSELF is our salvation. He is our righteousness and He is our sanctification. Hence Paul says "Christ IN YOU the hope of glory". When God looks at His saints, He sees them washed in the blood of the Lamb, and clothed with His righteousness.

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:5,6).

God in the form of Jesus in the flesh is the Savior of all men - especially of "believers" - why? Because they believe the message of Christ and what He has already done for us on the cross and resurrection.

1 Timothy 4:10 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.

The means by which we experience and receive Christ and all that He is by grace through faith but the work has been already done. His blood has redeemed us.

Well, it's one thing to be saved and another to go to heaven, I believe. He'll save us if we believe in him, but then there is work to be done.
Yes there's work to be done, as long as we are clear that our good works will not earn us a place in Heaven. God has already made that provision for every believer in and through Christ. God sees us already "seated in the heavenlies" with Christ Jesus.

Actually, I think repentance (obeying Jesus Christ) is the gate (Matt 4:17).

Romans 1:16
King James Version(KJV)

16.)For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

When I sit down I have faith the chair will hold me, but he object for my faith is Y-shua for Salvation. G-d lets the rain fall on the just and unjust, according to the Bible, so His grace falls on all mankind. I have some really great works, but sadly I have some pretty shameful and downright crappy ones too. I chose of my free will to believe in Y-shua, but He let me get to a place in life that a life raft or drown, life raft looked really darn good…. thank G-d for foxholes! I did not love Him when I found Him, over the years and getting to Him I am deeply, deeply in-love. I still struggle to love humans at times. He is the object of my hope, without Him it’s wishful thinking. Sad but true perseverance, not a strong suit, but somehow Y-shua gives me strength to do it. I cannot even keep love the Lord your G-d with all your heart and mind without Him, I have to die to Maeism, (my name Mae) love of myself and worship of myself, on a daily basis; and do what G-d wants me to do unsteady of satisfying my flesh. But He enables me to keep the Law. So when you put all the facts together who or what saved me and keeps me saved Y-shua,Y-shua, Y-shua!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See if He was not the Lamb, the G-d Man, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, my Atonement everything on the pool list would be worthless, but He is those things and everything else is a product of Him!
