No poll this time. (Sorry to all the ones who love polling..., and after this last American presidential election, part of me wants to know why anyone would love polling. lol)

But in my poll about who/what saves, I found a disturbing trend. How people responded to what saved means to them.

So, got to ask.

Okay, so Jesus saves.

Saves from what?

To what?

In fill in the blank method, it looks more like this:
Jesus saved me from _____ (and more than one word is fine) to put me _____.
I am pleased you brought this up. Most people seem to think salvation means being saved from eternity in hell. I think what it really means is that the Lord will rescue us from the messes we get ourselves into.

Looks like a beach in AU to me HAHAHHAHAH
I live on the emerald coast in the Panhandle of Florida, sugar white beaches with Emerald green water just like that. I was born and raised here and feel very blessed that this is my home, but admittedly don't go to the beach all that much these days, and tourism makes it a very hard place to be 3 or 4 months a year.

My avatar picture is pointed towards a condo in the background, but I'm standing on the whit sand in my picture here.

Which brings me to my next question...
For what purpose? As in, what is his motives? And, what are your motives?

(Also, this question isn't just to Res. I am asking everyone, because that's the part that worried me in the trend I was seeing.)

I knew it wasn't the Jersey Shore, because the sand is too white, the sea is too blue, and "There's room for boats? No way! It's way too crowded." lol

BUT isn't Florida water more turquoise than that color? Beautiful, certainly, but a different color of beautiful. (I've only seen the Gulf side, so no idea if the Atlantic side is different again.)

Hmmm...how about from potentially lethal mother-in-laws? ( Just joking - unless it's true...:) )

The Lord Jesus save(d/s) me from my own ways and my own wisdom and gives me His Ways and His Wisdom.

The Lord Jesus save(d/s) me from my own "righteousness" and gives me His Righteousness.

The Lord Jesus save(d/s) me from my own "obedience" and gives me His Obedience.

The Lord Jesus save(d/s) me from the kingdom of darkness and gives me entrance into His Kingdom.

Man it wouldn't let me post the pictures for some reason, but to answer your question is is a bit different color, more green. Google "pictures of Fort Walton Beach Florida", and you tell me. I'm not sure where you went, but I am in between Pensacola and Panama City, and it's on the Gulf side "fo show". I honestly thing the beaches here are more green than the picture I responded to. Definitely not turquoise, man I wish I could post the pictures here, I promise I wasn't lying or exaggerating at all. I'm going to try one last time to post a picture and a video, but if it doesn't work just google it, it's worth a look. ;)

You have to right-click the little picture to open it, but that's a much better picture of what I was talking about.

I am not sure what inspires the Lord to do what he does, but everything he does is in love. As for my motives (and our motives), I think we are trying to find happiness. Jesus said that nobody is good (including himself) except God. We learn that we can only be happy if we love God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and love our neighbors as ourselves.

I was going to edit the above, but waited to long. In an email article Dr Shallenberger sends out, he recommended HBOT for PHN and said to go to this website for more info. It doesn't tell about HBOT in any detail, but it is the oxygen that does the trick. I use H2O2 myself for strained muscles (from moving my sister) and the oxygen works nicely at healing and reducing the pain in my muscles, so I would think that the oxygen would work on nerves also.

Yesterday, I was wondering if you were going to keep trying or not. lol

Kudos for not giving up completely.

Shallow part is green. I was on a cruise, so we were always in the deep part. Deep part is turquoise.

And how shallow is that shallow part? Deceptive! Your water is deceptive. Yankee water is easier to judge, because if you can see the bottom, you can stand in it without being over your head. The shallow part looks like a massive kiddie pool with toy boats and all. The only way I could tell it wasn't was the boats are too big to float in I-can-walk-through-it water, and the guys with the pole gondoliering their boat.

(Also, clicking on little picture doesn't work. Judging from your image coding, the picture is still in your computer. You can see it, because it's your computer. No one else can.)

I'm presby. I don't know if you get the significance of that, but we're from opposite ends of the Christian spectrum. (I do believe we're both believers, we just come at things from opposite ways.) Methodism was started as a rebuke against presby's (aka Reformed, Puritians, Calvinist, et. al.) systematic theology. Or, to flip that into English everyone can understand, Methodist didn't like systematizing, so they went with "methoding" instead. lol

From my end of the spectrum, we go with God wants what he deserves -- glory, respect, love, eternity with his people in ever-lasting communion. He deserves it, and has done all this for that. It's not selfish though. More a father wanting face time with his family and his family realizing what a great dad he is, so remembering why we want to be with him. That is his joy.

And he created us for exactly that. No matter what else we do, if it's not that, it's not fulfilling quite as much, (or half as much, or not at all), doing just that. Like a pencil to a piece of paper, a wheel to a road, a sunflower to the sun, it is exactly what we were designed to do, and it feels right only when we're doing that. That is joy. And it is joy for him and joy for us.

So, you climbed up your way, and I climbed up my way. What I really would like to know if if we just met at the summit? Are we agreeing here? And, if we are, that's what I mean by we come at things from different ways.

I don't pay much attention to labels such as Presby and Methodist. I walk into my church (United Methodist) and there's a little sign that says, "This is what United Methodists believe:" and then lists a dozen things or so. It irritates me. They don't know what I believe unless they ask me.

Jesus saved me from the penalty of sin, separation from Him for all eternity, to put me in right standing with Him so we can have an eternal relationship of love.
Jesus saves me from the penalty for my sins which is eternity in the lake of fire.. Jesus covers my sin with His atoneing blood so that i am deemed sinless and worthy to enter into eternity with Him..
