I'm curious, do you guys have any favorite biblical names? I personally have fallen in love with the name "Elijah". It's translated to "The Lord is my God" or "My God is the God of the bible" and as many of you might know he's a very well-known and bold prophet.
I just really like the message of his story, it's about standing for God in a world that doesn't stand for God and Elijah made a decision that he's going to stand for God no matter what happens. His story portrays the power of prayer and how you're able to revive through the holy spirit. People were worshipping an "idol" and he was the one who told them to stop, he basically led them to the right path of Jesus. He went through many hardships and sorrows in life and learned how to overcome them by obeying to God's words. He was persecuted by those who did not believe in Him. Elijah was a defender and I admire him for his boldness and persistence, he just knew both the power of God and the depths of depression.

"As was true for Elijah, when we focus on the noise and the tumult of life in this world, we can get our eyes off of the LORD. However, if we listen for His still, small voice and walk in obedience to His Word, we find victory and reward. "

I'm thinking way ahead of time :p , but I plan on naming my son after Elijah. That name just speaks to me on a deeper level..
So yeah, I'd like to hear about some of your favorite names!

Beer Lahai Roi (Placename)

Hagar and Ishmael
1Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; 2so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said. 3So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. 4He slept with Hagar, and she conceived.

When she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress. 5Then Sarai said to Abram, “You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my slave in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the Lord judge between you and me.” 6“Your slave is in your hands,” Abram said. “Do with her whatever you think best.” Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.

7The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. 8And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?”

“I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered. 9Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” 10The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.”

11
The angel of the Lord also said to her:

“You are now pregnant

and you will give birth to a son.

You shall name him Ishmael,[SUP]a[/SUP]

for the Lord has heard of your misery.

12He will be a wild donkey of a man;

his hand will be against everyone

and everyone’s hand against him,

and he will live in hostility

toward[SUP]b[/SUP] all his brothers.”

13
She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen[SUP]c[/SUP] the One who sees me.” 14That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi[SUP]d[/SUP] ; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered.

15So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne. 16Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.

[SUP]

d 14 Beer Lahai Roi means well of the Living One who sees me.

Emmanuel (God who is not a man, whose eternal Spirit lives in us) .And not God is one of us.

Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Hi cat,

I like Isaac...

From the Hebrew name יִצְחָק (Yitzchaq) meaning "he will laugh, he will rejoice", derived from צָחַק(tzachaq) meaning "to laugh". The Old Testament explains this meaning, by recounting that Abraham laughed when God told him that his aged wife Sarah would become pregnant with Isaac (see Genesis 17:17).

I always liked Zerubbabel,

If I get a pet I will call it zerubbabel, just to confuse the vet!

Just in case you don't know who he is.

Zerubbabel [N] [H] the seed of Babylon, the son of Salathiel or Shealtiel
( Haggai 1:1 ; Zorobabel, Matthew 1:12 );
called also the son of Pedaiah ( 1 Chronicles 3:17-19 ), i.e., according to a frequent usage
of the word "son;" the grandson or the nephew of Salathiel.

He is also known by the Persian name of Sheshbazzar ( Ezra 1:8 Ezra 1:11 ). In the
first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, he led the first band of Jews,
numbering 42,360 ( Ezra 2:64 ), exclusive of a large number of servants,
who returned from captivity at the close of the seventy years. In the second
year after the Return, he erected an altar and laid the foundation of the
temple on the ruins of that which had been destroyed by
Nebuchadnezzar ( 3:8-13 ; ch. 4-6). All through the work he occupied
a prominent place, inasmuch as he was a descendant of the royal line of David.

I like Enoch which is said to mean dedicated, and the mystery around him biblically. God favored Enoch and he was one of the few who didn't experience death.

JASHER,

And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. Exodus 17:14

And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. Exodus 32:31-32

Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon, And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab. And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water. Numbers 21:14-16

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. Joshua 10:13

And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. Revelations 21:27
