Hebrews 13
13Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. 14For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. 15Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. 16Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Read this verse and wonder what other type of sacrifices does God ask of us in the New covenant?

1. Sacrifice of praise for all the blessings God has given us.

Present your bodies a living sacrifice....... Romans 12:1


Offer yourselves completely to be used by the Holy Spirit as He wishes, knowing that we are to be the temple of the Lord.

A sacrifice is not a joyful thing. Jesus tried to ask that He not have to become a sacrifice. Do you consider "praise" to be a sacrifice that is going to be painful?

I see it more as a thankful opportunity.

1 Peter 2:

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

It could be a sacrifice if done in the midst of un-believers.

Then it would still be a thankful oppourtunity but could be painful at the same time.

He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah6:8

Hi Ariel, I have always loved this verse even as a new born babe in Christ - today it is a reminder to me of what God continues to do in my life and that His praise is always at the front of my speech - praise God! :)

Hi again Ariel, from the New Covenant, sacrifices that God asks of us, "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," Matthew 5:44. :)
