Godswants for us to be saved, and it is only by salvation through HisGrace that we may be saved.

Butwe must do certain things to find salvation in Him. We must, forinstance, have first cleansed ourselves of sins we have knowingly andunknowingly committed in the past, so we may stand ready to receiveGod's Word and abide by it, toward loving Him. Hebrews 6 tells usthat once we have cleansed ourselves of such sins, we may stand cleanbefore the Lord and loving Him through His Word without our mindsbeing tainted by such past sins. Man is prone to sin when on earth,so this act of cleansing is necessary.

Hebrews6:1-2 says, “...let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ andgo on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance fromdead works and of faith toward God,
andof instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, theresurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.” The doctrine ofChrist involves repentance, so once we have achieved repentance wemay accept the Word of God willfully and love Him accordingly. Similarly, Ezekiel 18:21-23 says, “But if a wicked person turnsaway from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all mystatutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; heshall not die. None of the transgressions that he has committed shallbe remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done heshall live. Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declaresthe Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way andlive?”

TheWord of God, with its statutes and ordinances, was first given to thechosen people, but as Jesus implies, it is meant for everyone whowould would be willing to come clean and accept and love God thoughHis Word. Jesus in Mark 16:15-16 says, “Go into all the world andproclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and isbaptized will be saved.” This is God's Will, inasmuch as He createdAdam and Eve in His own image and He expected Adam and Eve to abideby His direction. As we all came from Adam and Eve, we all have thesame standing under God, so we all answer to Him. God, therefore mayhave first conveyed His Word on the Chosen, but His Word is notlimited to the Chosen by any means.

Hebrews6 says that having come clean, we may go beyond the stage ofrepentance, and abide by God's Word through Jesus, who had a betterunderstanding and love for God than the scribes and Pharisees of histime and place who only preached God's Word but did not practice it.Fortunately, there were many Jews of Jesus time who were morediscerning and who ended up willingly accepting what Jesus spoke tothem, and some of them became his disciples. And as through Jesus'teachings we once again realize that, as with Adam and Eve, we areall one under God.

Ina sense, Hebrews 6 may be regarded as the next stage toward gainingsalvation through God's Grace.

My Sunday school class and the Bible taught me; you cannot add works to grace, (unmerited favor), or it is no longer grace. It is either; saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ or you are not saved at all. We are saved, "unto good works," not by them, "Not of works, lest any man shall boast" Epheasians 2:9. Simple, clear, Gospel.

But we must do certain things to find salvation in Him.

This is true, and the bible records this precept in both the old and new testament. (See 1Ki 8:46-52, Joh 3:16-17, 1Jn 2:1-2)

1) We must first believe that God is true and that He provided a lamb (the seed of the woman) a proper sacrifice to atone for the sins of mankind.
2) We must confess our sins before God and acknowledge that Jesus, "The lamb of God which takes away the sins of the world" died in our place and that we are truly sorry for our sins, that we will seek to follow after the life Jesus demonstrated and no more walk in the ways of our past sins.
3) Then go and be baptized and sin no more.
4) And if any man sin after that (which there is no man that sins not), their is an advocate with the Father, the man Christ Jesus; And so still trusting number (1) Stop and do number (2) and then "Go and sin no more."

Repeat number (4) as often as required with as much prayer, fasting and bible study as is required to over come strongholds by the power of the Holy Spirit, which God gives unto those who trust and obey him. Seek perfection by faith as Hebrews 6 admonishes through the instructions Peter laid out in 2Pe 1:1-7.

Hebrews 6 is showing that there are things that the scriptures instruct us to do as believers, but once those things are done and understood properly, live by the spirit through number (4) every day (Paul said "I die daily"). But be ready to instruct those newly coming to Christ in the first principles of the doctrine of the faith we live by.

We must, for instance, have first cleansed ourselves of sins we have knowingly and unknowingly committed in the past, so we may stand ready to receive God's Word and abide by it, toward loving Him. Hebrews 6 tells us that once we have cleansed ourselves of such sins, we may stand clean before the Lord and loving Him through His Word without our minds being tainted by such past sins. Man is prone to sin when on earth,so this act of cleansing is necessary.

I want to think that when you say, "first cleansed ourselves of sins," that you mean by something similar to the 4 step process I've laid out?

If I'm wrong please explain. But how you have worded your post concerning cleansing ourselves can be confusing as some today teach that a person can be cleansed kharmically through spiritual workings and carnal disciplines that neither the scriptures nor Jesus Christ teach.

That's also why I like wwjd_kildjen's post

No, no, no

The cleansing ourselves is NOT first

---edit: Actually, we CANNOT cleanse ourselves

Jesus forgave sins first.
THEN he told them to sin no more.
I imagine you will receive many comments similar to hers which is why I'm interested to hear how you explain "first cleansed ourselves of sins". I could have listed a multitude of scriptures but I'm trying to shorten my posts and be more succinct. If clarification is needed, I will address with specific scriptures that edification can be by the word of God and not the assertions of men.

Is Hebrews 6 false gospel?
NO!
Your understand is wrong.
All one need do to be saved is Believe, not with your mind, but with your heart.
Now after receiving the free gift of salvation, one should strive to live a sinless life.
Now everyone will fail. One does not lose salvation, but will lose fellowship and blessings.
To restore fellowship and blessings, repent and ask forgiveness.
Simple, simple, simple!

I agree TruthTalk, there is only coming to spiritual maturity in Christ as we grow in grace and knowledge of him.

Peter said it like this:
2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

I assert that that growth is accomplished by faith through step (4). And God will provide the increase (1Co 3:6-9) to the pure in heart.

"Morning Thoughts"
Written by: Octavius Winslow

"I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is
why your descendants of Jacob are not already
completely destroyed." Malachi 3:6

The immutability of God forms a stable foundation
of comfort for the believing soul. Mutability marks
everything outside of God. Look . . .
into the church,
into the world,
into our families,
into ourselves,
what innumerable changes do we see on every hand!
A week, one short day, what alterations does it
produce! Yet, in the midst of it all, to repose calmly
on the unchangeableness, the faithfulness of God.

To know that no alterations of time, no earthly changes,
affect His faithfulness to His people. And more than this;
no changes in them, no unfaithfulness of theirs, causes
the slightest change in God. Once a Father, always a
Father; once a Friend, always a Friend.

His providences may change, His heart cannot.

He is a God of unchangeable love. Peace then, tried
believer! Are you passing now through the deep waters?
Who kept you from sinking when wading through the last?
Who brought you through the last fire?
Who supported you under the last cross?
Who delivered you out of the last temptation?
Was it not God, your faithful, unchangeable God?

This God, then, is your God now, and your God forever
and ever! And He will be your guide even unto death!

"His providence's may change, His heart cannot"

Is Hebrews 6 false gospel?
The cetainty of God's promise: "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, [SUP]20 [/SUP]where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 6:19,20.

No Hebrews chapter 6 is not a false gospel, thanks to God's immutubility, His promises remain trustworthy and secure, we are all son's and daughter's of Abraham by faith.

Do you mean ask for forgiveness as In a spiritual requirement that we must do AFTER salvation In order to be forgiven?

We need to "confess our sins" and He is faithful to forgive us our sins, 1John1:9. No need to ask for forgiveness because that has already happened, but we should confess our sins. "If we say we have not sinned then we make Him a liar and His word is not in us." 1John1:10. This is Apostle John's message to us concerning, "The Word of Life," Jesus. 1John1:1

Love GOD and love your neighbor,JESUS died on the cross once on our behalf and our sins were forgiven once and forever but when It comes to our neighbor,we might need to ask for forgiveness more than once.

Hebrews 10King James Version (KJV)

10 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

I love this post or what I read of it because I stopped right there….
Let me ask you as my judge am I saved.? (not really I read the who thing but this part is good enough)

When I got saved in February of 1991 I was in a restraint knew nothing about Jesus to me He was as false god. But see my first husband was murdered just in the December before in an armed robbery, he was shot in the lower abdomen, he ran from the store the built logged into his spinal column and he feel dead. Friend invited us to a church back in the spring of 1990, the preacher gave an alter call and Alexie said he wanted to go down, I asked him what for. See we are both Jews we did not believe in the “Christian false god Jesus”. He went down and got saved. He went anyway without my support and got saved. Two months later, while in a restraint, I heard a voice say to me if you die tonight you will go to hell. I somehow instantly know who it was, and I had a fear come over me like I have never felt before nor since, and I said save me. I got saved that night, in that restraint. A short time went by and I decided if I’m going to serve Y-shua I better find out what the Christians know about Him, so I went to Bible College. Went to Bible college, got a silly degree in theology, that got me nowhere in life but off to the best almost 30-year journey EVER with my Messiah!

See I got saved that night in February of 1990. Since then I have been close to Him, I have been far away, I have been extremely close. Sometimes you can look at me and say she is not a “Christian”, other times I’m up there with Mother Teresa. Never not been saved since February of 1991.

Has G-d let me suffer consequences of my backslidden times? Ohy! You bet ya!!!! But trust me a close walk with Him is BETTER!!!!! And never one lost my salvation. See Y-shua came down, ridding on His cloud, with His bows, just like Joshua says and rescued me and nothing on the Earth, above the Earth not beneath the Earth, just like Paul says, can pluck me from His hand. Not since February of 1990 when I only accepted Him because I was afraid of Him and not now or ever because I’m still afraid, but with great deep, passionate love. Am I not saved, I did not set aside a single sin first, or is it we set aside our sins because we are saved?

Grace is God's unmerited favor and you make a list of merits to get God's favor, that's not grace that works. John 3:3 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

If you can not even see the kingdom of God, how are you going to know that you need to repent or believe? God's grace is that He causes you to be born again so that you can realize that you need to repent. I Peter 1:3 "
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"

If He does not make us alive from our sin we will never repent Ephesians 2:4-5 "
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved"

If the Father does not cause us to be born again and make us alive we will never repent or even know that we need to repent and if we are not born of the Spirit we can not call on Jesus as Lord I Corinthians 12:3 "Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit."

Actually only one prepositional phrase, not more. "Saved by Jesus." Every other variation on prepositional phrases (through/by faith, through/by grace/ through/by anything), are "by Jesus" too. He gave us everything to be saved, himself, his grace, his faith, his truth, so it's all "by Jesus."
