Trusting God in the midst of pain and suffering may be the greatest expression of worship that we can accomplish here on earth
- C. Michael Patton, Now That I'm a Christian, p. 149

'Nough said...

:)

I hope that sends the Word of Faithers scurrying, even the ones that pretend like they are not WOFers.

I have heard individuals who think they are authorities on Scripture telling medically depressed individuals they just need to "suck it up" and pull themselves up by the bootstraps.

Just by the guy's remarks, on a regular basis, you can tell he's promoting self-reliance rather than God-reliance.

It's amazing what passes for teachers on this website. If someone's voice has an air of authority, he is accepted as a teacher even though he's speaking out of his backside.

Beware, young believers and seekers. Fools can sound authoritative. I followed such an individual for a decade.

One of the most influential persons in my Christian walk was a lady named Reva who attended my congregation. She lost her son in an accident where he was decapitated, her toddler grandson choked to death while in her care, and she had cancer multiple times. Yet, never did she turn from God. I could tell sometimes she was sorely tested, though.

And, it disgusts me to hear Word of Faith "teachers" claim that if people have illnesses, and are not healed from them, it is their fault because they lack faith. Or, telling a young cerebral palsy victim that they are lacking in some way because they would be healed if they were not.

By the way, if I find out someone is a seeker or new believer, I educate them on the zany characters in the chat room, BY NAME. I encourage other sound believers to do the same.

Almost as bad as trying to convince people they were meant to live a life of misery.

I have suffered much in my life and even now I am in severe pain I can barely move my left wrist, but I have seen God do amazing things through my suffering and heck if he and I achieve the level of love I am after with him I may very well have to suffer greatly and intensely for his sake and for others but I am not afraid because I knew this when I chose this path to seek a deeper love with him than what anyone else has had with him before. my body is such a train wreck and i kn ow I have not the power to change it, but pain really is an amazing teacher after all it's in my suffering that I learned to trust him the most because what else could I do?

I must say that suffering isn't a topic that I don't see talked about much.

1 Peter 4 says a lot about it.

You know God really has an amazing sense of humor, a couple hours ago I didn't know why but I felt lead to write these words to Stephanie thinking they were for her or for someone she knew but the ironic thing is that these words were actually for me XD soon after I wrote this to her everything took a turn for the worst and I was in severe pain I felt so alone and so hopeless but wow it's like when i wrote this I was thinking it was for her or something but God was like nope! it's for you:)

life can be hard, confusing, painful, sad and just simply unfair and I don't know why I felt as if i needed to write this to you but I am going to anyways.

Hope is the one thing that keeps me believing that you and I will be together one day, it is hope that keeps me chasing after God's heart even though it is like a giant star in the night sky ever ahead of me as I run and run stumble and stumble chasing it refusing to give up until this star is in my grasp, it is hope that makes the blind man believe that he will see again even though physically it is impossible and yet it is because of hope that refuses to accept that reality.

Hope is the fuel in the small lonely child's eyes though he is alone and unwanted it is hope that makes me look to the sky and for some reason he cannot explain feels treasured. It is hope that cradles the unsure and the timid for hope is not simply a word or a feeling nor is hope merely a way of believing or seeing hope is alive and flows through us as if a surging electricity was coursing through our veins. Hope is the reason the sun rises every morning, hope is the internal healer and bandage weaver, hope is the light in our hearts and the strength in us when we are at our limits.

And it will always be hope who will be there when we are down, hope will be the spark that is seen inside the hopeless and will ignite a flame that will one day become a fierce fire and hope will the one who uses what the devil sees as weak to show what true strength is.
Hope is here and hope will be the unbreakable glue that binds all of us.

If you notice this part

Hope is the fuel in the small lonely child's eyes though he is alone and unwanted it is hope that makes me look to the sky and for some reason he cannot explain feels treasured.
I had not meant to write me in that part as i thought I was writing about some random child, I think god knew what he was doing there lol

suffering is absolutely a biblical topic and while it may be discussed in other places, there certainly is a dirth of it around here because of the panacea posting of wof or nar and those who scoff at the very idea that someone might suffer for Christ

irregardless, I'd like to see those who ignore this topic, dropped into a third world country where you can be killed for your Christian witness

it is ridiculous and insulting to God, IMO, to drop in some false teacher video or screaming singer as though that were the answer

this is nonsense, not God and you won't have time to find your favorite song and plug in the ear buds for bravery

wake up.

The answer is and will always be - trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths.

He will be faithful to us in every circumstance of life. He will be caught in the act of being Himself...:)

We have a good, good, Father.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.2 Corinthians 1:3-4

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.Romans 8:18

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.Romans 5:3-4

The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all.Psalm 34:19

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.2 Corinthians 4:17

Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.1 Peter 4:1

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”1 Peter 3:14

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.Galatians 6:2

For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.Philippians 1:29

To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.1 Peter 2:21

and it would be wise to understand no one is looking for an opportunity to suffer

so, disregarding what is actually written, is to do so at your own peril

Some of the most faith-building experiences I've had in my life happened in the midst of extreme physical pain. In those experiences learning to do the right thing by the Holy Spirit was a lot easier since my body was also saying "hey, that hurts, doesn't it?"

Bethel Music is no better than Bethel church that formed it.

I agree with sevenseas..... dumping music videos does nothing, & proves nothing.

Still fluffing it up, I see.

1 Corinthians 5:11 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.

An abusive person, reviler, slanderer.

Being a slanderer of others in the body of Christ is no different than living a homosexual lifestyle. They are in the same lists together.

1 Peter 4:15-16 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

[SUP]16 [/SUP] Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

and yet people still respond to you! see how that works?

so up to here with YOU calling others abusive, untruthful, deceitful and full of malice all the while acting like you are above it all

fool all of the people sometimes, some of the people all the time, but never all the people all the time

That's probably what "tokin' the ghost" really means, LOL!!

yeah

I dunno

but I do know God has opened my eyes to a few things lately and the spirit behind some of the music these days, is NOT the Holy Spirit

How can it be, when the lives of those who write it are a shame? I'm speaking more of what I recently found out about United from Hillsong. you can't parade around half naked, get drunk, do drugs and then sing holy holy holy

about bethel, I would just say. RUN and fast too.

anything NAR is worse than wof if that is possible, and a combo, double barreled, embedded hyper charismatic anything goes mindset, has got to be the saturday night special of flaming arrows

angel of light that some people forgot is the mo of the best of the deceptions

I am not maligning someone's character at all, they could be the nicest people in the world (they are not, but just sayin') , but it's the error which leads to even more deception

in another thread, someone made a poll about prophecy, wanting to know if people believed partial or total fulfillment

they also indicated they wondered if either belief reflected in what was believed generally

I am convinced that what a person believes is how they act. it is how they think.

it is who they are (yeah, enough psyche courses and Bible study under the belt to feel slightly qualified to make that statement, not to mention plenty of experience in the field of Christian service)
