the very beginning of this book, sets the subject matter in place God spoke to the " fathers" of Israel through prophets ,Moses being the first. And Has again spoken to Us all by His Son Jesus Christ. This book is of neccesaty to anyone that wishes to understand what the " covenants" or " testaments" are, where they came from, what the first means for the New and eternal and How they work together. If you are of the thinking that nothing in the Bible really applies to you, it will be of no gain. If you wish to understand really understand Why not accept the biblical writers ?

Hebrews 1:1-4 "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."

the rest of this chapter is establishing Christ's supremacy above all, that the Son of God is Jesus Christ, the Only. it uses purely quotes from the prophets of which there are many more saying the same things. I will share the scriptures in each chapter of Hebrews in this thread, and also will share what those scriptures are referring to when it begins talking about priesthoods and things that it is speaking of from the Law.

alot of folks find Hebrews to be difficult to really understand, i believe the Key is to understand that it is all about the two covenants and How they relate to one another. alot of what they are saying we need to understand the things they are referring to in the Law, to understand what they are saying about the New.

the first chapter Here is establishing the theme of the entire book the 2 covenants and their relation to One another. as we move through the book we learn things such as How much Greater the New is for us, How much greater the promises and provisions. and also How the first is a pattern, a shadow of what was to come. We Learn of Our Great High Priest exalted to the Heavens to sit at Gods Right hand. We have warnings and examples to look to that make references to what Happened in the Old, applied to Our covenant.

if you have any insights on this book please do Leave them, if you are willing to accept simply what is in the scriptures I have no doubt you will find great value in the book of Hebrews . You will also find an immense value in learning the first covenant Law, Only you will also understand it is not your governing testament, and at the same time is not at all de valued in regards to understanding the things Of God and How perfectly His design has been from the days of exodus to the days of the new testament and forever.

if you do find a few Moments here and there to read and consider and find any value, thank God for His Word. expressed for our learning. the Only purpose for this share, is to help some who may not grasp this book or understand what all of the references are when referring to the ot Law.

God bless i will add the scriptures as I have time, feel free to add to, or discuss, i would simply ask that we stick to what is written, what the references are that are used so often in this book and discuss those things and not simply explain why nothing applies. Or simply follow along with the scriptures and consider them. Not really an argument thread so i dont expect many replies on cc bdf :) but i hope to gain some insight from some of the Ones i have noticed Here with such good understanding.

Great thread FollowJesus... keep going
I will share the Book entirely, it will take a few days because Hebrews makes so many references directly from scripture, I want to offer as many as possible because the writers of Hebrews were speaking with the thorough Knowledge of the Ot. God bless bro, i will add chapter 2 later, and try to keep up with a chapter per day as i Have time. I want to be thorough regarding the references from scripture of old, I believe in doing that, it will really show with clarity what is being Said and How it applies to us. thanks for the encouragement I hope you find some value, and I know i will as well.

Writers? It is Paul isn't it?

Brilliant. This is very true I believe. Paul uses OT references which compact a lot of thoughts into a few words. He does this also in Romans. (It also shows he is writing to Jews and Levites at those points I think...?)

Luke 24

6And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43And he took it, and did eat before them

44And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48And ye are witnesses of these things. 49And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Now this is not a derail... I hope you receive it well for your work followjesus.

No one actually Knows the authors. definately more than One. I myself do not think Paul, because it is vastly different from His epistles. pauls epistles are very similar to one another, even though romans is different in structure it still has all of pauls signature themes. some suggest priscilla and aquilla, others suggest timothy, Barnabus and paul, many Have differing views but there simply is no historical record of Who the authors are. this book goes where no other letters attributed to paul goes, while paul may certainly have been a contributer personally I do not attribute Hebrews to paul, His calling was to Gentiles mainly. and too many of His main themes are not present.

Hebrews 2

So we Have the Beginning Chapter which explains God spoke to the fathers of Israel, through the prophets, and that In the Last days He has spoken to Us all by His Son Jesus Christ. ( which remember is the theme of the whole book) we have all of the support given that leaves no uncertainty Jesus Christ is supreme, greater than the angels and is seated at the Right Hand of God, after Having spilled His Blood for our sins. then immediately we see in chapter two after all that is established, Our first exhortation and warning.

1:1 "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

( then we see the writers explaining that angels are not given the rule of world to come, But the Son of Man, Jesus. using the prophetic psalms and Isaiah to quote from and then explain)

"For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

"But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet." ( a quote from psalm 8:4-6)

( the writers now go into detail about the process of bringing children of God to God through his Only Son the "whys", and "whats" of it)

For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

"Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee ( psalnm 22:2) .And again, I will put my trust in him.( many psalms and prophets ) And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me."( Isaiah 8:18)

( the explaination continues of the why's, How's , the promise of the greatness that Jesus did for us)

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted."

there is so much Here to understand, and the Writers still are emphasizing what Jesus Has Done, what God has done through His Son for us. it seems to me the first 2 chapters are really establishing the greatnes and glory of Jesus our Lord, telling us not simply " Jesus died for your sins" but the real meat of why He did what He did for us begins to come into view. we see here the issue, ( death that held us captive) the enemy,( the devil) what it took to free us , we begin understanding the question " why did God send His Only begotten to die for us?" not simply saying " to forgive us" but explaining the why He did it the way He did it part.

we see Here in the end of this chapter, that Jesus was indeed made Like us, a partaker of flesh that is succeptable to temptation, that Jesus was indeed tempted so that He is able to strengthen us, remember that God cannot be tempted, so He didnt know How it felt personally when we are tempted, Now through Christ He understands what its Like to face temptation having flesh and blood which is weak towards sin. Our Lord became Like us for the purpose of redeeming us from sin and death there is more to come in the following chapters regarding this remember Jesus never sinned, but He, like we are was tempted through the weakness of flesh, yet Our Hero overcame , having experienced the feeling of it, Having a kinship with us in that. that is an important aspect you will see a little later in this book.

God bless.

To assist those who may not be too familiar with this book, here is a synopsis of Hebrews (not copied and pasted but from my own studies):

Paul’s epistle to the Hebrews is one of the key books of the New Testament for Christians to understand what Christ accomplished for our salvation. The overarching theme of Hebrews is the superiority of the Lord Jesus Christ in every aspect of salvation and the superiority of the New Covenant over the Old. While each chapter has multiple teachings, the gist of each chapter can be summarized as below:

Chapter 1 – Christ is more excellent than the angels

Chapter 2 – Christ humbled Himself for our salvation

Chapter 3 – Christ is more excellent than Moses

Chapter 4 – Christ is more excellent than Joshua

Chapter 5 – Christ is the Author of eternal salvation

Chapter 6 – God’s promises in Christ are immutable

Chapter 7 – Christ’s eternal priesthood is better than the Levitical

Chapter 8 – The New Covenant is more excellent than the Old

Chapter 9 – Christ’s blood is more excellent than that of animals

Chapter 10 – Christ’s sacrifice is more excellent than that of animals

Chapter 11 – Salvation is by grace through faith

Chapter 12 – Christians must suffer and endure chastening

Chapter 13 – The spiritual sacrifices of Christians

Yes it is. There is an immediate contrast between what's in chapter 1 and what's in chapter 2. And the whole point is to show that the one who is God had of necessity to humble Himself to become Man in order to save our souls from Hell.

So the first 2 chapters Have really clearly established Jesus supremacy, they have established who God has spoken through His Son to us, the prophets to the fathers, we begin to understand the why's of Him sending His Son to die, and where that begins to Lead us. also we have very clear warning saying " Let US take more earnest heed to what the Lord Jesus Has said slowly the Book Builds upon these things moving us toward the priesthood of Jesus, and the new covenant yet the book always instructs us to look back to the fathers as an example. Here in ch3, we begin with another exhortation to give Heed as israel would not do and were thus destroyed.

hebrews 3

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

( Here is more direct quote from psalm 95:7-11 in italics and quotes )

"Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith,) To day if ye will hear his voice,Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest."

( we then have another exhortation, based on these scriptures explaining what Happened to the fathers in the wilderness who refused to learn the Ways of Our God, because they would not Hear His Word the psalms quoted refer to exodus 17, numbers 20, and some other places where you see the people constantly contending with God, with moses, complaints which led to them wandering in the desert 40 years, we understand this is there to warn us another theme found in this book.)

"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

( notice the warning to us, and the writers go back the the scriptures just shared saying brothers do not be like they were sin is deceitful , hardens your heart and provokes God)

For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

( Here the writers connect sin with unbelief. Because the people did not believe, they remained in sin, Not believing Gods Word remember Hebrew 1:1-5, and the first admonishment about " Giving more earnest Heed to what the Lord Jesus said, the apostles witnessed to, and God also with miracles ect. clearly Here were being told to remember what Happened to those who were led from egypt, and would then, not consent to Gods Word, they were destroyed in the wildreness. Here is just One example of what the writers are referring

numbers 14 : 27-35 "How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die."

See that the israelites constantly complained, always grumbling though God was doing miracles feeding them, water from a rock, had delivered them from slavery in egypt. remember this is after Moses has interceded several times for the people, and God grants them grace each time, eventually God is fed up all He has done and thier constant rebellion against His ways, His Word His commands, His Chosen One Moses and the High priest aaron. complaining How the Lords ways were just too Harsh. often they desired to go back to egypt rather than believe that God was leading them to the promised land.

there is a reason this is being established in this particular Book, and the idea that the things in the desert for israel are warnings for us now, is something Paul makes clear in His epistles, peter makes clear and Jesus made Clear. at this point you can see a connection between the first, and Our New. being valuable to learn and be corrected by the examples written. remembering that God is constant, He does not change ....and the value of the example Ot times begins to break the surface here.

Hebrews 4 then moves upon further the things began in chapter 2, regarding Jeus being tempted, and Having no sin, becomes the perfect High priest....it really begins getting great at this point. starts moving into the Heavenly things v the earthly things of former days of the wilderness. and begins needing understanding of the Law, in order to get the optimal value. God bless, ch 4 will really support ch2 and moves back into what Jesus Has done, now that we have been warned to take Heed, and not let those things slip from us. the writers begin to Move into the High priesthood of Jesus, Son of God. be patient this really goes somewhere wonderful.

In Heb 2:9 we see the Son of Man Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death.

I thought that was interesting ...

amen and really if you place ch2 and 4 together that comes into connection. Jesus was always above all. the glory begins to shine of what He actually Did for US. He being highly exalted from the foundation, chose willingly to Be made just like us man a little lower than angels in order specifically to die " for the purpose of tasting death for all men" in order to save us from it. as ch 2 Just begins to touch on. the nuts and bolts of what He has done and the why He had to do it the way He did it.

Notice in regards to what you are seeing there v3-4 "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

and paul says this romans 1:3-5 "Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh ( son of man a little Lower than angels david said that psalm 8) ; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, ( the Holy spirit said that)by the resurrection from the dead:By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name"

Jesus was is and always will be who He is, but what declares this to us is His resurrection. When He rose from the dead, there was no longer doubt that all of His words are true.

God bless you thanks for that thats really neat How that works there in your comment So much Greater than the angels crowned in all glory, Loves us so much He becomes like us lower than angels to win Back the dominion adam Lost in the beginning and offer it to us all based on His victory

Yes it is. There is an immediate contrast between what's in chapter 1 and what's in chapter 2. And the whole point is to show that the one who is God had of necessity to humble Himself to become Man in order to save our souls from Hell.
consider this also and what do you see in this

"Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God."

Jesus being made Like us, the Son of Man, then exalted to sit next to God"

reflecting Back to the relationship adam Had with God, that personal relationship that He gave away, and was then expelled from Gods intimate presence. Jesus comes made as adam was in the beginning, Like we are now, and was exalted into the close relationship seated beside God Once again. do you see the restoration of mans intimacy with God in that? considering the first 2 chapters ? How Jesus the Son of man, is who is close to God and given power and authority.

also considering how this includes us being " partakers of Christ" and paul says this

ephesians 2:6 "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus"

one of the main points of " the Son of man" is to show us that man has been exalted in Christ, to be seated next to God, and that through Partaking of Christ, we find the " Son of God" also in us as we are called His Children.

How about the Word Christ has spoken? being found in the first few verses and then also

"Chapter 5 – Christ is the Author of eternal salvation"

5:9 "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;"

which is sort of why on this thread, its not from my own study, but from what is written theres no reason to cut a verse in half He is the author of eternal Salvation, for all those who obey Him. which is what sticking to the scriptures in this book will make very clear. there seems to always be a need for us to altar with our own thinking whats actually there. salvation and obedience go hand in hand, this book makes this point very clear. with all of the look back examples on Israel. who were also saved from egypt By Grace, as was Noah saved By Grace, as was adam Created ib Gods Grace, as Was JESUS the author of salvation sent By Grace.....God has lways been Gracious and always taught us to Believe and Obey ( faith) His Word.

the writers continue from whats been said regarding the rest they were not allowed to enter because of thier sin, being a result of not believing His Word. Notice this chapter begins "therefore let us fear" this shows us that all those warnings weve been seeing are meant for us, to bring a Godly respect and fear because God will indeed Keep His words of recompense if we are like those in the wilderness. He Gave grace many times and forgave thier iniquities He also when they refused to repent destroyed many because they did not respect His words of warning

Hebrews 4

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest ( psalm 95:11): although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. ( Notice whos works are finished, and Who is exhorted to labour)

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: ( Those who fell in the wilderness)

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

For if Jesus ( Joshua) had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, ( Jesus) he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Clearly Here if we stay in what is written and what the writers are explaining, thier unbelief was in the Word of God, they Knew God was there, they saw the fire, heard His voice at Horeb, saw the seas part saw all the miracles he did all along as they complained and rebelled. the unbelief we keep seeing Here is in what God was saying to them. as this chapter begins, we see that they also Heard the Gospel, which really kind of devastates the idea that the gospel is only Jesus death and resurrection and does not include His Words. because Israel also Heard the Gospel in the wilderness under the first covenant and would not believe. the end of this chapter really drives Home the Point that its all about Gods Word, His power as again the first few verses of Hebrews sets up for us our course of subject matter.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Notice whats being said Here in the context of all the wroiters have been saying regarding the example we are to look to in the wilderness.

this really moves now into the priesthood of Jesus Son of God, the heavenly priesthood that we understand through the ot Law of priesthood. remember reading comprehension 101, each sentance isnt saying something different or opposing those before and after, whats being said is found when you see the message of all the sentances put together, and find the understanding or Knowledge held within the whole. Building upon what has already been made plain. to see the word Grace Here doesnt then nullify all of the many warnings we are told to consider regarding the wilderness and Israel, because Grace has always been a part of Gods character.

man was made in Grace, and freely by Gods goodness toward man, given the earth and dominion to start with. Grace warns of danger ahead and instructs as much as any benifit it Brings.

Grace preserved us through Noah the "heir of the righteousness that is by faith ( Hebrews 11:7), Genesis 6: 8 "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD." yet Gods Grace is what warned Noah of the coming flood genesis 6:13, and instructed Noah of what to do genesis 6:14, and Noah obeyed God, because He believed God and obeyed. Genesis 6:22. that is Saved By Grace, through Faith. Noah was Given Grace, and had faith and it was Living faith that believed Gods Warning, and obeyed His instructions, and thus saved His family and became Heir to the righteousness of Faith

Hebrews 11:7 "By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith."

Faith doesnt mean we dont need to obey God, or take all of His warning seriously, it means we will do those things because we Have Faith, and By Grace God has also warned us of the Coming destruction.

will leave ch 5 which begins one of my favorite subjects, the perfection of Our High priest Jesus Son of God. and the following chapters which teach us from the Levitical order, and of the Mechezidek oorder of Priesthood, that of Jesus. they go into the fact that the old is a foreshadow, a pattern of the new things, that we learn of One from the other. the greatness of Jesus Priesthood which is what establishes the eternal Covenant, and presides over it with full authority.

Yes it is. There is an immediate contrast between what's in chapter 1 and what's in chapter 2. And the whole point is to show that the one who is God had of necessity to humble Himself to become Man in order to save our souls from Hell.
Paul touches on what you are saying also, which fits perfectly into chapter 2 and 4 especially

philippians 2: 5-13 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

paul is saying " Let this mind also be in you" and then explains the attitude of mind in Christ Jesus. remembering " in the image of God made He them, both male and female, in the image of God He made them...and God called them Man.

consider this also and what do you see in this

"Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God."

Jesus being made Like us, the Son of Man, then exalted to sit next to God"
Exactly. and this is where Philippians 2:5-11 fits. We should be trying to bring together relevant Scriptures for each thing that is revealed.

That is exactly what I believe as well. I think that all scripture is very relevant to itself. the reason in this post I wanted to actually share the entire book, is so that no one needs to hear me say " this is what the book says" and then give my own view leaving out so much of whats actually there. I have noticed Paul has His strengths and appointments, as does Peter, John James and all of the apostles. I find that pauls letters are so closely structured that really He is saying the same things and to , as you are saying here, focus on the subject He is speaking of, finding more understanding in all of His epistles regarding each focal point, for example

romans 8:1-There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."

this , while useful needs more for understanding what He is actually saying

Galatians 5 : 16-26 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another."

and then this connects and leads to a greater understanding. so when the rest of romans 8 is sudied we have more understanding of whats being said

romans 8:Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

this is just a quoick example of what im saying, which is what you also are saying. also to go from John to paul to peter makes the same clarity pop out for us because they were all speaking from the Gospel. when someone grasps this principle it opens things up and brings real clarity of the things Jesus is saying in the Gospel.

this particular post on Hebrews, I wanted to share the book because of its connection to the ot, and prophecy which also works in the same priciples of connecting whats actually being said so that we dont end up excluding things oin the basis of what we think we Know.

God bless
