[h=1]TOPIC: DIVORCE IS NOT GOD'S BEST[/h] - August 18

Scripture: Mark 10:2 "And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him."
MARK 10:2-6
[h=2]Andrew Wommack’s daily devotional[/h]
The Pharisees didn't really want to know what Jesus taught on divorce and remarriage. They didn't value His opinion but were tempting Him and desired to get Him mired in the big dispute of their day between liberal and conservative views on divorce. This was a very emotional issue then, just as it is today, and they thought they had Jesus in a "no win" situation.

However, as always, Jesus proved to be more than their match and He gave them much more than they asked for.

The Pharisees didn't question whether or not divorce was right. They took the right to divorce for granted. But Jesus, instead of expounding on acceptable grounds for divorce, went to the very root of the problem and showed that God never intended there to be any divorce at all. If they really understood the extent of the one flesh covenant between a man and his wife, they would not be looking for an excuse to get out of marriage. This approach amazed the Pharisees and brought forth the question "why did Moses in the law make provision for divorce?"

Re: Andrew Wommack’s daily devotional August 18, 2017 - TOPIC DIVORCE IS NOT GOD'S BE

I'm not familiar with any of the authors of the devotionals except Andrew Wommack. Without reading from the site., I agree with what he says here that divorce is not God's best for us and that God never intended there to be divorce. And if they really understood the extent and meaning of the one flesh covenant between a man and his wife., they would not be looking for an excuse to get out of marriage. Jesus always gets to the root of the problems in us humans. He always goes to the heart and spirit of the issues.

Thanks for posting., I like devotionals and find them to be helpful.

Re: Andrew Wommack’s daily devotional August 18, 2017 - TOPIC DIVORCE IS NOT GOD'S BE

Amen...God hates divorce. Jesus Himself will never leave us nor forsake us.

Marriage between the man and the woman to become one flesh is a type or shadow of Christ being one with us - His beloved bride. We will forever be one with His bride!

The proper understanding of this would stop many divorces from happening within our ranks. If we don't get the revelation of Christ's union with us forever - we will be quick to dis-miss others and want divorces for many reasons.
