half year a go, a seeker who clamed to be came to our church. i found her and asked her to study something basic about bibles in order to help her know god more, but as time passed by, she told me that she came to church just to make friends with us, and she was not intersted in studying that , howerver she doesn't refuse to study something basic about bibles. so we began to do that . after half a year passed, she still insist her idea which she had at the begging . now, we still keep in touch with each other, she also asked when we can study together but showed no interst in becoming believer, can i stop studying with her? because i want to have a quality time on somebody who god prepared. any advice?

Why does she still want to study? Is there a part of her that is looking for God even if she doesn't want to admit it?

Do you ever go out with her, just to be a friend?

Hi changfeng,

Is there a reason you don't want to study with her?

You are doing a great thing by sowing seeds of truth. It could be the next study you do together that brings her to the Lord. We never know, but as long as she is listening and studying the bible, that sounds like a good thing to me. :)

What you can do is tell her that you're going to move on from basics and begin to build on the foundational truths of scripture. If she's needing a friend you could explain that Jesus is the best friend that was ever born and being to tell her why.

Are you growing weary?

As far as teaching another person, you can include others in your bible study can't you? Or set an additional time to study with another person.

I'll will pray for you and the girl you're teaching. God bless you! :)

She wants to study the bible but have no interest in becoming a believer? That's a dangerous thing for one to do. The scriptures says, It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. If shes going to study the scriptures she needs to be willing to have a personal relationship with God & not play with his word.

I think we are confused on why she would want to study with you and not just eat dinner with you or go out to events with you. Can she not be your friend away from Bible study?

Absolutely. You have the words of Christ that if anyone will not hear the Gospel or Bible truth, move on, and find someone who is genuinely interested. Just send a polite farewell note and be done with this.

How do you know she is not someone whom God is preparing?

I studied the Bible from time to time with Christians who befriended
me many years before I surrendered my will and my life to God.

Hi changfeng,

I think that maybe you need to ask yourself why you think you're wasting time on her. Even though in her heart she's just wanting friends, my goodness, she's chosen you. That can be a God thing, a divine appointment.

God planned it that you would be in this girls life and what better way for her to hear the gospel than through friends. She'll see how you live, how you talk and how you act. You will be a great witness to her just by your godly living. You'll be living out the gospel in front of her very eyes whenever you get together.

I just don't get the part where you think you're wasting your time on her. Whenever we witness to others of our faith, we need to persevere through it and be patient on God to bring her to Himself. You can keep in prayer that God would lead her and guide her even in her ignorance.

How excited I would be if a person wanted to be my friend and they didn't know the Lord. What a great opportunity you have to share the love of God with her.

Is it that you think she's just using you? Is this a cultural thing going on that we don't understand?

God bless you and I'll pray that God leads you in how you are to proceed with her.

Here you have a girl willing to study but you are looking for someone willing. Take what God gave you, and her, pray, and go with it.

Yes, I would say to same, but it really depends on your situation.

If you have other persons who are willing to listen and are more open to God, prefer them. You do not have to teach everybody, who is just willing to listen. Your time is limited.

Showing love towards one another is never a waste of time.

Do not expect immediate results. Some sow the seeds, others may water the seeds...and God causes the increase in His time.

Your friendship could be one of the many "Hallmark" movies in Heaven in how Jesus saved your "friend". She is obviously attracted to Christ in you in seeing the good in you. You need the fruits of the Spirit of patience, longsuffering, and love to help you through your special time with your friend.

Just tell her that if there is any a time where she does not believe she is good and that even hanging around good people does not help her to be good, then tell her that is why you are good because of Jesus Christ in you, and that God will save her from her sins that are bothering her and help keep her from her sins.... if that be the case for why she wants to hang around good people.

It is possible that she seeks to educate herself but God may give her wisdom and the Father may reveal His Son to her ( see Matthew 11:25-30 )

You can also tell her that after having been saved by Jesus Christ, she can be with the good God all the time because Jesus Christ will be in her ( 2 Corinthians 13:5 ). She may find that after having been saved by Jesus Christ, she will have the Best Friend she could ever have in this world and He will never leave her to help her face bad times as well as help her through it.

Since she wants to study the Bible with you...go over the promises of Jesus Christ like how He comes to destroy the works of the devil in our lives so that sin will not have dominion over us & not just give eternal life. ( 1 John 3:3,8 & 2 Timothy 4:18 ) It is about living a reconciled relationship with God through Jesus Christ Our Good Shepherd as well as our Saviour so that our lives will be fruitful and our joy may be full.
