“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ “is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:15-17)
After the fall in Eden, Adam and Eve were no longer imagers of Christ, they were naked.
After Jesus’ resurrection, no one physically recognized Him that personally knew Him before His crucifixion.
Mary Magdalene...
“And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.” (John 20:14)
Disciples on the road to Emmaus…
“And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.” (Luke 24:15-16)
Seven disciples with Peter didn’t recognize Jesus…
“But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.” (John 21:4)
Eleven disciples gathered together on resurrection day...
“And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.” (Luke 24:36-37)
Now according to Romans 8:29 this seems to be a process leading toward a final end. “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Conformed σύμμορφος … fashioned alike, jointly formed, i.e. (figuratively) similar:, having the same form as another. conformed to, fashioned like unto.
Image εἰκών eikṓn (English icon)… a likeness, i.e. (literally) statue, profile, or (figuratively) representation, resemblance.
Lastly, in relation to the way Adam was created before the fall, it seems plausible that when the last trumpet sounds, and we are caught up into the clouds with Jesus, we will be changed.
Is that change in relation to being created in Their Image?
Is the original Edenic creation going to be restored?
Is restoration the epitome of intent during the millennial reign of Jesus Christ, our Creator, High Priest, and King?
As Jesus was changed (conformed) will we also finally be conformed and complete as He was in His image, physically unrecognisable and different than before the resurrection?
"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1 Corinthians 15:52)
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:18)
