Why did God say offer up your son? It was a test but why as a sacrifice? Why not take him to the nearest city and leave him with the priest to serve me there? Or something.. Why burnt offering?

It was a symbolic representation of the future Lamb of God who would be sacraficed to take away the sins of the World.. Abraham was willing to sacrafice his son for God but God prevented it and eventually sent His Son jesus ans a sacrafice for Abraham and his spiritual decendants..

When Abraham was about to offer up Isaac as a sacrifice to God, Isaac asked him, here is the wood and the fire for the offering, but where is the sacrifice? Abraham replied God would supply Himself, a Lamb, for the offering.

This, to the best of my knowledge is teh first prophesy of Jesus Christ being the Passover Lamb of God, long before the establishment of the Passover feast.

I am certain it is a prophesy of this because the Word does not err in regard to the content of its truth, and Abraham, after being halted by theAngel of the Lord, turned and espied a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. He immediately offered it up for his burnt offering, but it was not the Lamb of God, for that was Abraham's prophesy to be fulfilled.

Praise God, amen.

Praise the Lord you hit the nail on the head. the mtn was Moriah, and when Abraham was 3 days out he saw the place of the sacrifice
I contend that Abraham when he lifted his eyes, he actually saw Jesus being crucified.

this is backed up by jesus himself saying "Abraham rejoiced to see my day"!

The ram was put there in place of isaac, for there was to be only 1 lamb sacrificed on that mtn

side note its when he lifted his eyes that he saw the miraculous, most people live their lives downcast. Isaac lifted his eyes and saw rebecca, your promise is there if you only lift up your eyes Amen and Amen

If you appreciated the truth and glory in Genesis 22(?) Then this will lift your soul even more.

If you did not know, Abraham was the first ever to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I did not realize this until
I read it in the Epistles, Galatians I believe. My memory is not all it used to be.

I suppose it was when God told our father, Abraham, that his descendants would possess the Gate of their enemies.

Unless we believe God, Yahweh, when we read His Word, we will no treceive all the blessing, and least not in this age.

I cannot wait for the Day when our Father in Heaven reeveals to us all of the mysteries about Himself and eternity...what glory to God, amen.

Now you be blessed in the Hand of the FAther today and forever, and if you look around, you just may spotme..j

PS.....To keep the time line in order, Abraham received dth gospel of Jesus Christ 43 years previous to th egift of the law that intervened for some time.
