God says in His Word that you will receive double for your trouble. If the devil has given you one trouble, then for that one trouble you can expect to receive a double-portion blessing! And if that trouble has caused you to experience shame, God’s promise to you is this: “Instead of your shame you shall have double honor”. God wants to give you a double-portion blessing for every trouble you go through!

And don’t think that God is behind your troubles. The devil is the real culprit. Sometimes, it could be the one you see in the mirror every morning! But the moment you respond to God in faith, He gets involved in your restoration. And He does not restore to you the same amount that you have lost. You always get more than before, if not in quantity, then in quality. You will be at a higher place than before. You will be healthier, wiser, financially stronger or more at peace!

This was the case with Job. Satan was behind Job’s troubles, but when Job responded in faith, God took it upon Himself to restore to Job all that he had lost. The Bible tells us that Job received double in terms of quantity—from 7,000 sheep to 14,000 sheep, 3,000 camels to 6,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen to 1,000 yoke of oxen and 500 female donkeys to 1,000 female donkeys. And for the children he had lost, God restored in terms of quality—his daughters were the fairest in all the land. (Job 1:2–3, 13–19; 42:12–15)

If Job, who was not under the new covenant, could be blessed with double for his troubles, how much more we who are under the new covenant! In fact, God will not only restore double but triple, fivefold or even sevenfold! Such was the restoration experienced by one of our pastors, who was cheated of some money. In the end, he received a sevenfold restoration!

My friend, for everything that you have lost, get ready for God’s restoration. Expect to receive double and even more for every trouble!

I've already submitted some of my thoughts and opinions about Job and what he went through and why. This devotional on Isaiah 61:7 is a principle I've been discovering to be true in my own life as a Christian woman who lost much but is being restored each day.

And as the pastor here is saying., how much MORE we believers today who are under the new covenant are blessed. Yes., I agree. I don't understand how this whole process of grace works but I'm so thankful that God has blessed me according to Jesus finished work on my behalf and not my unfinished works on my own behalf.

This gives me major hope each day to continue to fight the good fight of faith while being in the process of learning. Some days are one attack from the enemy after another. But due to the grace of God in Christ., there is safety in the learning. (Due to the grace of God in Christ) Not fainting while being in process. Sort of like a package being delivered and going through a rough UPS process. I've received packages from UPS that have been battered on the outside but the inside was intact. Some days it feels like we go through a rough pass and look and feel at times like a battered UPS package by the time we reach our destination. But I've found rest soon as I land and take account of what happened.

Being sustained in the process is major. And then having hope renewed each day is also part of the process of learning in the Holy Spirit. The promises of the Bible I've found come alive during this time while reading and thinking about Psalm 23.

[SUP]1 [/SUP]The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
[SUP]
2 [/SUP]He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
[SUP]
3 [/SUP]He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.
[SUP]
4 [/SUP]Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.
[SUP]
5 [/SUP]You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with [SUP][a][/SUP]oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

I've been restored in many ways over the last 10 yrs. and although the losses have been big and major and life changing., they have not ended life here. Many restorations have taken place and many have yet to take place. But I'm counting on the promises and the examples in the Bible that point me to the love of God in Christ. He will take care and restore what the enemy has stolen. I hope that anyone else who is going through this process will be encouraged about how God uses His grace in the lives of His children for Jesus sake.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue…
Proverbs 18:21 - AUGUST 5 -
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SAYING?

[HR][/HR]
Many things in life can cause us to fear—losing our jobs, deadly diseases, terrorist attacks and so on. When these things confront us, we tend to give in to worry and fear, and start talking about our fears.

Job was no different. He constantly feared that God would punish him and his family because he kept thinking that his sons had sinned against God. He would get up early in the morning to offer burnt sacrifices, saying, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” And the Bible tells us that he did this “regularly”. (Job 1:5)

So Job kept confessing the sins of his sons and fearing that something terrible would happen to him and his family. In fact, his sin-consciousness didn’t just produce fear, the Bible tells us that he “greatly feared”. (Job 3:25)

It is important that we understand that it was Job’s sin-consciousness that opened the door to Satan. His preoccupation with sins that his family may have committed gave Satan the opportunity to bring death and destruction into his life. God had a hedge of protection around Job. But when he started being sin-conscious and having a fearful expectation of judgment, the hedge was removed and Satan could attack
him. (Job 1:9–12)

My friend, today, if you have sinned, don’t say, “I have failed again. I deserve to be punished by God.” Know that you already have forgiveness of sins because Jesus was punished and condemned in your place! (Ephesians 1:7) So say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ. Jesus, You are my holiness and perfection.” (1 Corinthians 1:30; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

We must be mindful of what we believe and say regularly because “death and life are in the power of the tongue”. So when you hear of a deadly virus taking many lives, don’t say, “I’m next because I have not been a good Christian!” Instead, say, “Jesus, You are my righteousness and protection. Surely You shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence!” (Psalm 91:3)

Beloved, such believing and confessing not only please God, but they also shut the door on Satan so that he cannot make any inroad into your life!

Dear Reader , do you notice that this devo actually contradicts the other devo, Joanie posted, where Joe Prince said it was Jobs's own tongue that caused his calamity and now that JP is saying something different...beware of HG false teachers that use contradiction to keep you confused....

There is no contradiction. Please read what is being said and not "read into" what is being said. The mark of a good listener is one who takes the time to hear and read what IS actually said.

This "work" with Scriptures is really horrible. Please, read chapters 60, 61 what it is really about.

Also, it was not the devil:

For in My wrath I struck you, And in My favor I have had compassion on you.

Re: THE POWER OF THE TONGUE PROVERBS 18:21

Here is a view about Job and the power of the tongue that "creates" things. I like to use this website from time to time as it has articles based on the finished work of Christ and in light of the New Covenant and how that is different than in the Old Testament way of things.

I also like the fact that we can ask questions at the bottom of the article and I have learned from others there as well. This may "conflict" with some things we were taught in our church teachings in the past - depending on which denomination we were under.

People are free to have a different view too without personal attacks and biting and devouring each other as Paul says in Gal. 5:15

Ten Little Known Facts about Job

Many people consider Job a great man and a champion of the faith. Job, you will recall, lost everything (his family, wealth and health), then sat on a dunghill scratching himself with a broken plate while having a theology debate with seminarians. As a result of this rich, life-affirming experience, many people now believe the following lies:

  • God gives and takes away good things like children, health, jobs

  • God uses sickness to punish or discipline me

  • God puts me through hard times to teach me humility

  • God uses Satan as a sheepdog to keep the sheep in line

I want to offer a different perspective. The Book of Job is not about a great man but a flawed man. The Job we read about was not the man of God many think he was, but a superstitious and fearful man who said some stupendously dumb things. His story is not about the triumph of the human spirit, but the awesome grace God gives to broken humanity.

“But Job was a righteous man.” Actually, he was a self-righteous man and basically an unbeliever, as we shall see. I’m not knocking Job. My purpose is to show you how grace changes broken people like you, me, and Job. By the time we get to the end of this short series, you’re going to be amazed at some of the good things God says about this imperfect man.

But to finish well we must begin with a proper understanding of Job’s state apart from God. So here are ten little known facts about Job:

1. Job was superstitious

Like many religious people, Job believed in karma. He subscribed to the faithless wisdom of sowing and reaping. If his kids threw a wild party, Job would bring a sacrifice. “They might’ve sinned; I’d better do something about it.” Debits and credits. “This was Job’s regular custom” (Job 1:5).

2. Job was sin-conscious

Not his sins, of course, because he didn’t have any. (Cough!) He was a good man who kept the ledger clean. But Job viewed sin like kryptonite (see Job 31:11-12). He was terrified of it and thought about it constantly (see Job 31).

3. Job was full of fear

Job was insecure and bound with fear. He would’ve been the perfect customer for an insurance salesman because he feared calamities and disasters that would wipe him out (Job 31:23). When that happened he said, “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me” (Job 3:25).

4. Job was full of self-pity

Read Job’s words and you get a strong sense of “Woe is me.” Although his woes were legitimate, he was utterly focused on his own sorry state. He was self-indulgent to the point of whining. “I will give free rein to my complaint” (Job 10:1). And complain he did.

5. Job allowed bitterness to take root

Bitterness is a grace-killer, but Job allowed that evil weed to flourish in the garden of his heart. “I will complain in the bitterness of my soul” (Job 7:11).

6. Job was self-righteous

Job’s confidence was not in the Lord but his own good behavior. “How many wrongs and sins have I committed? Show me my offense and my sin” (Job 13:23). Like an indignant Pharisee Job had an inflated sense of his moral performance. “Let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know that I am blameless” (Job 31:6).

Job’s self-trust reinforced his victim mentality. “Can anyone bring charges against me?” (Job 13:19). Eventually his self-righteousness became so odorous that it even silenced the self-righteous men who came to counsel him. “These three men stopped answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes” (Job 32:1).

7. Job thought God didn’t care

“Even if I summoned him and he responded, I do not believe he would give me a hearing” (Job 9:16). Job’s self-pitying distorted his perception of God’s character. Like many people going through hard times, Job thought God was opposed to him (Job 13:24).

8. Job blamed God for his troubles

It is often taught that Job never blamed God (which is a misreading of Job 1:22; more on this later). However, Job did not hesitate to point the finger at “the Almighty, who has made my life bitter” (Job 27:2). A storm killed his kids and tribal raiders stole his herds, yet Job attributed his loss to a God who gives and takes away (Job 1:21). Again and again Job said God was the cause of his trouble (see Job 2:10, 6:4).

Given his good behavior, Job couldn’t make sense of this divine unfairness. “Don’t you have better things to do than pick on me?” (Job 7:20, MSG). God moves in mysterious ways, thought Job. At any time he might “crush me with a storm and multiply my wounds for no reason” (Job 9:17).

9. Job thought God was trying to kill him

“Although I am blameless… He destroys both the blameless and the wicked” (Job 9:21-22). Job actually thought that God was trying to kill him. “You turn on me ruthlessly; with the might of your hand you attack me… I know you will bring me down to death” (Job 30:21,23).

10. Consequently, Job despaired of life and wished he was dead

Job loathed his life (see Job 7:16). “Who can see any hope for me?” (Job 17:15). This so-called hero of the faith had a death wish. “I prefer strangling and death, rather than this body of mine” (Job 7:15). Job had no faith in a God who heals and restores, but said, “the only home I hope for is the grave” (Job 17:13).

Many people honor Job as a giant of the faith who was renowned for his great patience. However, Job is not listed in Hebrews 11 among the other heroes of the faith and the only righteousness he exhibited was the stinky, self-made kind.

But stick around because we’re going to see that God’s grace is for imperfect people like Job. “He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill” (Psa 113:7).

As we will see, Job’s life had a second act. Before he met the Lord Job was a whiner who falsely blamed God for his troubles; but afterwards he become a brand new man, a man that God saw as righteous and upright. It is an amazing story and you won’t want to miss it!

Depending on where we go in the Bible and how well we allow the Bible to interpret the Bible., we can also see that the Jews were given wells they did not dig and land they did not plow and houses they did not build. I don't have my concordance with me tonight so can't remember where the verses are. But like the promises were for those who followed the law and trusted God in the old covenant., we under the new covenant of grace have the promises by trusting in the finished work of Christ.

We have such great and precious promises all because of Jesus.

There is much here in Isaiah that has to be compared and rightly divided. Judgment came upon people when they didn't follow the law but God's mercy always shows out in the end. In one of my study Bibles it discusses in Isaiah 60 how the truth will come to the nations (Gentiles) through the preaching of the Gospel of Christ... the nations (Gentiles) will share in the blessings of the millennial kingdom... Tarshish is probably an area in the south of Spain.... and Isaiah contrasts the glories of the millennial kingdom with the inglorious condition of Israel before the Exile.

Much here to be studied out and rightly applied. Judgment was meted out many times by God but the Jews and the sons of God are not dealt with as the world is dealt with. Knowing what covenant the people of God were in and what was required in that covenant will help us to know the proper interpretation. But for today., we believers are under the new covenant of grace. We live by grace through faith. We are to walk in the Spirit in the obedience of faith.

So much to be properly understood when using the Bible if we wish to make a point. Bible verses have to be rightly divided or a new covenant believer will try to live as an old covenant believer. Then they will be very confused. And many are.

Isaiah 61 is the year of Gods favor and begins with this.

Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that arebound;

Isa 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Isa 61:4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

Isa 61:5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

Isa 61:6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

Jesus proclaimed this in part in the synagogue and then sat down.

Theres a truth there to be understood. I'm not entirely sure, but my thought is this was fulfilled for the nation of Israel up to the point where He stopped, and then the ending for His body that He brought forth with His death and resurrection.

Ending with the triumph of the remnant coming in.

But would have to study to be sure.

The body of Christ has inherited the blessing of the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. We can receive all the blessings of God through faith in His Word. Just ask. IMO.

No matter how one views Job - the end result will be if we are having a real Job experience - that the Lord will bring double for what has happened to us either from the enemy or from our own foolish and destructive thinking. Double in quantity or quality in it's substance. He brings us life and life is only found in what Christ has done for us.

God is called our Redeemer for a reason. In order to be "redeemed" - one must be in trouble to begin with.

Let's grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and experience His life and His life is the light of men. People will see the Lord in and through us and come to our loving Father and Lord.

Sorry, but you are too cheap. Double? Only?

Eternal life in heaven is eternaly more than any earthly life in pain, sickness or poverty.

Thats why we do not concentrate on earthly things and success as much as the world does.

I agree...

I agree that heavenly realities will be immensely more than we experience here on earth. But we do experience them too. In heaven we will be eating and "experiencing His life" and it is not some ethereal existence but tangible things.

I only used "double" because that is what the Holy Spirit used when describing Job's experience in what was restored to him. The Lord gave Job double the amount of "goods" in this life.

Sometimes there will be a time to die for the cause of Christ because of persecution but in the meantime - God blesses His children so that we can be a blessing to others. It's a kingdom dynamic.

Job 42:12-13 (NASB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] The LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; and he had 14,000 sheep and 6,000 camels and 1,000 yoke of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys.

[SUP]13 [/SUP] He had seven sons and three daughters.

Job 42:15 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] In all the land no women were found so fair as Job's daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.

James 5:11 says - consider the outcome of God's dealings with Job - that the Lord is full of compassion and mercy - no matter whether we are the source or from the attacks from our enemy.

We have a good, good Father and Lord that stands with us in all things.

OK, but that does not mean that when your house is burnt you will get two new ones like some kind of "law". Thats why this work with the Bible is horrible.

I believe you are mis-reading it or mis-applying it and you are entitled to your own opinions too.

I never took it like that but I guess some do and I can see where the carnal/fleshly/natural mind of man can go off in all kinds of tangents but to throw the baby out with the dirty water is not wise in my opinion.

There is always "tension" in scripture and in truth - for example Jesus Himself said this.

Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)
[SUP]29 [/SUP] And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

[SUP]30 [/SUP] But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

How all that works out - I'll leave in His hands.

I know that we have a good, good Father and a loving Lord and that we have died with Him and we live by His life alone.

Have a great day!

Isaiah 40:1-5
Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Acts 3:17-26

And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. 18But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. 19Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 20And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. 22For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. 24Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 26Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Isaiah 61:8
For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

First Christians had everything together, like communism. Thats how they got "many houses" etc. With persecution.

The American view "I will be rich because I am a Christian" is actually very unbiblical... and I think thats what Prince and similar ones to him are saying.

American view? I'm an American and never believed that. Neither has the majority of Christians I've ever known. It is a false teaching, which can be taught and believed anywhere, not a view held by a nation.
Always funny how much Pride 'Christian's from ither countries get in bashing Christians from the US. It very much matches the secular worldview of bashing America. Hmm...
Also, many in Africa hold this view as well.
