Here is a short devotional that speaks of us being "righteousness-conscious" and not "sin-conscious".

Religion is in the "sin management business" - Christ is in the "righteousness of God making business."

It is the gospel message of which we are not ashamed of. Rom. 1:16-17

In "it" - the gospel - the righteousness of God is revealed.

The term "conscious" simply means - the thoughts our minds think about being aware of things and responding to our surroundings.

Col 3:1-3 says to "set our minds on things above and not on things of the earth". One of the aspects to this truth is agreeing with what God says about us because we are one spirit with the Lord Jesus Christ.

This doesn't mean that we don't know when we are walking in the flesh and doing wrong - it means we are to keep our minds set on Christ and all that He has done. That He has made us righteous because of God's doing. 1 Cor. 1:30

We are to "awake to righteousness and sin not" as Paul says in 1 Cor.

Awake means to "come to one's true self - to sober up to be who we truly are."

Keeping our eyes on Jesus and all that He has already done in His finished work on the cross and resurrection is how we live now. We behold the glory/goodness of the Lord as in a mirror and we see our true selves in Him reflected back. 2 Cor. 3:17-18

This causes transformation by the Holy Spirit to reflect in our outward behavior to manifest what already is in us in Christ and we participate in this with God - for it is God who is at work in us - both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Phil. 2:13

If you are familiar with today’s verse, you’ll know that believers usually quote only the first part: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”

Now, do you want to know the secret to unleashing this promise of protection, and walking fully in your inheritance in Christ?

It is actually right there in the second part of the verse: “‘…every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and
their righteousness is from Me,’ says the Lord.”

You see, it’s when you know that your righteousness is from the Lord that no weapon formed against you will prosper, and every tongue of accusation, judgment and condemnation that rises against you will fail!

My friend, use your faith every day to believe that you are indeed righteous in Christ, and that this righteousness is of the Lord’s doing, not your own doing.

This is how no weapon formed against you shall prosper. This is how you live an overcoming and victorious life!

Meditate and Believe - Joseph Prince Ministries.

Another error of Prince.

He still makes the same one - taking the Old Testament verses about physical Israel (and out of context) and trying to make it physical for us.

"But you take heed to yourselves. They will betray you to courts, and you will be beaten in synagogues; and you will stand before governors and kings because of Me, for a testimony to them.
Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against their parents and have them put to death.
You will be hated by everyone on account of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved."

Mk 13

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
J 16:33

Our victory is spiritual, in Christ. Not material, not by physical weapons, not physical protection against enemies, not material riches etc.
If Prince means it in spiritual way, he should say that clearly.

We must realize that all Christians born of the Spirit of God are the true Israel. Isaiah 53 talks about the Lord dying on the cross for our sins - does this mean it's not for us today? of course not - it's foolishness.

Romans 9:6-8 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP]
Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

[SUP]7 [/SUP] Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

[SUP]8 [/SUP] That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

But people are free in Christ to have their own opinions....:)..

Please stick to the OP's message about being "righteousness-conscious" because of Christ's work on the cross and resurrection. Thank you.

What is the gospel?

1Co 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Keeping our eyes on Jesus and all that He has already done in His finished work on the cross and resurrection is how we live now.
Precisely. Too many Christians are having their minds focused on sins instead of righteousness. Books and media also maintain that focus. And the enemies of righteousnesss, goodness, and truth are seeking to take control of this world at every opportunity. One simply has to see what the news networks put out daily and continously. The only appropriate term for that is "garbage".

But the Holy Spirit has directed Paul to exhort us to turn our focus elsewhere and to be rooted in Christ (Philippians 4:5-9):

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Good topic.

One point, isn't a servant one who works?

This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

The righteousness of the LORD is truth, mercy and justice and equity, and so on and so forth.

It is written, the son of David said the following to the LORD 1 Kings 3:6 whom he said had great mercy upon his father great mercy, according as he walked before him in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee;

While Paul is credited with starting the Church of Corinth when he first visited the City in 51 A.D. yet remained there for a year and a half. (Acts 18)

Righteousness is position and not personal performance...the body of Christ is littered with people "born again" but are still slaves to sin....because they identify with sinner and wicked, more than they do saint and righteous....

And works hard. But that's a given. "Good works" speak of work, and this is practical righteousness. Positionally we are already perfect in Christ.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12)

The key to understanding this is "because I go unto my Father". The outcome of Christ going to the Father and taking His place at the right hand of the Father was that the Holy Spirit was poured up "upon all flesh" (human beings who were originally sinners). Following that many miracles were performed by the apostles and their companions, but the main result of the coming down of the Holy Spirit was to empower men to preach the Gospel boldly so that souls would be saved. On the day of Pentecost about 3,000 souls were saved. Shortly thereafter, another 5,000. And within the space of about 40 years, churches had been establish throughout the Roman Empire and beyond.

So while signs, and wonders, and miracles accompanied the Gospel, the miracle of regeneration of hundreds of thousands of sinners was the work of the Holy Spirit. While the Savior was on earth, His ministry was deliberately limited to Israel, since He was first of all the Messiah of Israel and King of the Jews. After Pentecost, the works of Christ multiplied tremendously, not only through the apostles, but also through all the Christians were were saved originally in Jerusalem, but scattered throughout Judea and Samaria because of persecution. And the apostles went even further abroad, with Thomas going all the way to India and preaching the Gospel there.

Note: The second "works" in that verse is in italics, which means it was not in the Greek text. But it makes perfect sense.
