I agree with your statement above, just yesterday I had a person accuse me of being a Dispensationalist, though granted I posted a statement of another person's article on the topic and that author used the word dispensationally in the latter part of that statement, but in no way does that mean that's my belief. I find it quite interesting how people take something to create a derogatory views of other people.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (1 Cor 11:31)

Are these merely the words of Paul, or are they the words of God the Holy Spirit? And if they are the words of God, are they limited to the Corinthian Christians of the first century, or are they applicable to us as we go about the business of living Christian lives?

And if they are applicable to us, are they limited to the Lord’s Supper, or are we to examine and judge ourselves daily in the light of God’s Word, and with the indwelling Holy Spirit discerning the thoughts and intents of our hearts, and exposing our sins and failures? (Heb 4:12,13)

It should be crystal clear to every Christians that since we are not sinlessly perfect in these mortal bodies, it is our responsibility to judge ourselves, unless we want to be judged by God and chastened accordingly. Indeed the Holy Spirit tells us in no uncertain terms that “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8). And if we persist in self-deception, we make God a liar (1 John 1:10). That is why it behooves us to examine ourselves daily in the mirror of the Word of God.

So what is the standard which God has place before us? Believe it or not, the standard is His own absolute holiness (1 Peter 1:14-16): As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

What Peter is saying is that if we are indeed children of God, then we will be obedient children, and if we are obedient children, then we will strive for holiness and righteousness in all things – “in all manner of conversation” [“conversation” being an archaic term for “manner of life” (behavior and conduct)].

Since holiness can only come from the indwelling Holy Spirit, what this means is that the Holy Spirit must control our thoughts, motives, words, and actions, while self and the flesh are nailed inside a coffin labeled “DEAD TO SIN”. Which means alive unto righteousness through being “filled with the Spirit” (Eph 5:18).

    Your thoughts?
So parents should stop "correcting" their kids?

Righteous judging by Him involves correction; not condemnation; Those who do not repent are to be excommunicated or withdrawn from fellowship but not to treat them as the enemy, but to admonish them as brothers still. 2 Thess. 3:14-15

Now if they are unbelievers... well.... no Christian has any business correcting them when they do not have power and thus Jesus Christ in them to deliver them from their bondage to sin and to death since we cannot lay aside every weight & sin unless we are looking to the author & finisher of our faith to help us to do that. To unbelievers; preach the gospel and feel free to share how Jesus is helping you to live as His by destroying sin's power over your lives... thereby after they are saved, they can look to Him to deliver them from the sins that is making them worse and worse as well as lean on Him to keep those sins from them too.

Different than me. Yes. We all sin. Sis is sin; it all falls short of the requirement, perfection. Should we judge sin? Yes. All of it. Mine, yours and everyone’s else’s. We need a call to holiness. I do not do a lot a sin other do but every night I am on my knees. I spoke to a “Christian” yesterday who said she did not sin because she was the righteousness of G-d. I asked her if she sinned. She said yes but she asked for forgiveness but she is the righteousness of G-d. I said so you are a sinner, or you would not ask for forgiveness. In my position as the righteousness of G-d because of Y-shua is not forfeit because I sin. If I say I am without sin I am a lyre. I asked her if she was a lier. She said I am the righteousness of G-d. I said yes that is your position before G-d but do you sin. she said yes, but I am the righteousness of G-d so I am not a sinner. I told her according to Scripture you are a liar! She finally got we never lose our position, because of Y-shua, we are the righteousness of G-d but weather people like it or not we are still sinners saved by grace!!!!!!!!!!! So how do we know what is holey? The Scripture. I am hederal sexual is a homosexual different than me? Yes. Can I call them out on sin? yes. Why? Because of Scripture!

I agree with you IAWIA about people taking a word another might use and creating a derogatory opinion of them and who they are as a whole based simply on the use of it. It's very immature behavior. It's also sad how many people don't want to lose what they deem a "Biblical mandate" to judge people.

I think your friend might have been referring to 2 Cor.5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

We who are believers are now the righteousness of God IN Christ. That is who we are now. We are no longer sinners we are now saints., beloved of God.

Before we were saved., we were without Christ and called sinners because that is what we once were.,sinners who sinned because that was our nature. But when we received Jesus righteousness and became saints., we are saints who sin on occasion because we are learning how to recon ourselves dead to the old and alive to the new.

Knowing who we are in Christ is very important to our victory here on earth when the battles of life hit. We are new creations IN Christ. We are now righteous saints and daily learn to recon that truth in our lives by the Bible and the Holy Spirit.

She may have. So, what. What does that have to do with being a sinner? If you tell me you are now perfect and do not sin, I will call you on the authority of the Scripture you are a liar, therefore a sinner. Yet because of Y-shua you keep your position as the righteousness of G-d. But has someone ever become equal to Y-shua and without sin. if you have well cast the first stone….

Jesus said " he who is without sin cast the first stone" and there were no accuser's for all have sinned and come short . So my question to you is who gives you the auttority to judge. What is judgement against another? Is judgement the same as slander? Are we to judge the sin or the person?

Ho!!! Oy vey! What a deep question? We hate the sin. I so agree!!!

All of us fall short of the glory of G-d and we continue to. But by His grace and mercy we crucify our flesh daily and sin less (not become sinless). There are two great Scriptures, Paul says we put aside those sins that so easily beset us, and we crucify our flesh daily. At the end of the day I am still on my knees. In fact, it jets so raw, that Samuel said to the king, I will not sin against G-d and not pray for you. When “we” think of sin we think of being homosexual, murder, wife-beater; but sin is in word, thought (Y-shua said if you have lust in your heart you have committed adultery… way more hard core than Torah).I wish we judged ourselves rightly, then we could be the hard truths of Scripture to the disobedient (sinners) without a plank in our eye.

I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.”

We can't judge or condemn anyone, but we are to judge between right and wrong, and to correct ourselves and others. Correcting is not judging, if done right.

We are never to judge the person, but are to always judge between right and wrong. They were coming at her with stones because they were judging her personally.

Judging the sin vs judging the sinner example...

Right way (judging the sin) (using smoking)...
"You know smoking destroys the body- which is God's temple. It is not something that Jesus would do, and we're supposed to be like Him- CHRISTians. Do you ever think about the reproach that puts on the church to those who are considering coming to church? And what about the influence you have on kids, especially your own kids- who look up to you. It's not only that it's wrong, it's unhealthy, it has been proven to cause death, and I care about you, and want you around for a long time."

Wrong way (judging the sinner, not the sin)...
"You worthless, disgusting piece of garbage! You smell like an ashtray, and look like one too. You call yourself a Christian? Go to hell where there will always be smoke, and fire. Cause you don't deserve heaven, and are in denial if you think you're going there. God laughs at people like you!

    Right way: Encourage
    Wrong way: Discourage

"Only speak what is helpful to building others up, not tearing them down."

Ah now we start , what is judgement, slander, ect. Judgement starts in the house of the Lord. Judgement is when we not only oppose but also sentence the person. In the case of Paul turning one over to Satan to be burned , in the case of Jesus and the adultress women to be stoned. Ect.

If one is clueless or misinformed we must come along side him and bring him to the truth. But if he denies the truth then what? Judgement should always be a last resort not a first instinct. Paul knew what gospel was preached because he preached it.
Do you know where this person defending porn got his info.
Judgement is a serious matter. We are judged by the same measure. Are we so sure of ourselves?
Strange how the one with no sin cast no judgement on anyone he encountered yet in Revelation he speaks to the churches and tells them to repent or else.

Correction is always done with restoration in mind. Even to them cast out of the fellowship, it allows them a time of self reflection to see what the world looks like and what the Body of Christ looks like. To see how good they had it. Restoration is at the heart of correction.
