If the earth is round, how to explain the expression "four quarters of the earth"

"And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea." (Rev 20.8).

Re: If the earth is round, how to explain the expression "four quarters of the earth"

from all four directions.

it's an idiomatic way of saying "
all the earth"

an example that makes that clear is here:

I will bring upon Elam the four winds
From the four ends of heaven,
And will scatter them to all these winds;
And there will be no nation
To which the outcasts of Elam will not go.

(Jeremiah 49:36)

Elam is spoken of being scattered by "
the four winds" -- and the meaning of that idiom is further explained in that "there will be no nation to which" they are not scattered. ergo, to every nation, or to put another way, all the nations in every direction.

The four corners of the earth mean north, south, east, and west.

When you look at any map, at any point on the map the north/south axis intersects the east /west axis.

The point of intersection is the four corners of the Earth. It is another way of saying everywhere.

If your eye is not square, how do you explain seeing
something out of the corner of it? Is it triangular?
Is it flat? Hexagonal? Maybe it is a trapezoid?
Or is it just an expression meaning something else?

I would not be surprised if the world was not a sphere like the world presents... the question is if it were flat why would they lie? The why is more useful to know than the what.. for whether a sphere or flat or whatever else we Trust in the Almighty who knows all things and made all things.. and abiding here is just temporary... the wonder of the world is GOD.

They will distort the truth in any way they can. After the globe came evolution, meteorites, planetary impacts, aliens, and global warming. It presents a world where God isn't above us, at least not directly, hell isn't below us, and the universe is physical, random, dark, and cold. The earth isn't the center of creation, and the sun worshipers get to deceive us into believing we revolve the sun, and it dwarfs us in size.

It's generally disorienting and enables more deception plans and lies to exist. It's impossible not to be a creationist on the flat earth.

If the earth is flat.........how do the oceans NOT DRAIN OFF?

The entire tonnage of ignorance required to believe the earth is flat would flounder a battleship (in my opinion).

Proverbs 8

9When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
32Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

The universe is dark and cold with or without a flat earth.

This site explains so much, so obviously and simply.

It will mean nothing to the dinosaurs in our midst, but to thinking people this should be quite enlightening.

(If the Earth were truly flat, there is no reason we should not be able to see both Mexico and Europe just standing on our shorelines.)

I'm still waiting for an adequate explanation as to how, in your flat-earth fantasy, the sun can appear at a point south of due east from a point ten degrees south of the Tropic of Capricorn.

Good luck.....I fly with Qantas on an A-380 Airbus to Australia and back----a total of 14 flights....in the tail of the A-380 they have a camera that you can connect to from your seat...every time we have flown around 35,000 to 40,000 feet and this last trip I specifically checked out the horizon.....yep.....it did not appear flat to me..............
