When I was younger I was a completely different person and have had a lot of tattoo work done. Some people condemn me because of this ink and say it goes against God. I would tell them the bible says to decorate your temple and this body is my spirits temple. In Deuteronomy 14:2 it is written that there should be no mark on the body of symbols or names of different gods. In Timothy it is implied that the body should not be a source of drawn attention. So, should one feel ashamed for tattoos? Does this ink label someone and that can never change?

Don't let any man condemn you for your past. God has forgiven you of your sins and does not hold them against you, so don't let other men take away your freedom or hold them against you or condemn you when God does not condemn you..

The question really isn't is getting a tattoo sin? God looks at the heart and what the hearts motivation is or was. But you got the tattoos before you even met Him, so it is a good bet that you didn't have any godly motivation. But that's all beside the point of your sins being forgiven. (If getting a tattoo even IS a sin, because God looks at the heart and what it is doing or is up to.)

This is like when a church refuses to let a man hold a position because he was divorced before he met God.

First, I believe the verse means he must not have more than one wife at a time. Secondly, if God has forgiven him, why do men then hold his past sins against him? Can they really think a divorced man can't serve in certain positions, yet a murderer like Saul/Paul could be held in esteem in the church? How is it that a former murderer can hold a position of more esteem than a divorced man? Does that make sense?

Let no man call unclean what God has called clean and forgiven and let no man...gaah! I'll just stop. This really riles me.

I personally would not get tattooed, and I don't
like them in general, especially on women.
I see it as graffiti on a building, I.e., vandalism.

Tattoo smattoo. All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,and if you offend in the least of the law,you offend in all,for a little leaven leavens the whole lump.

Everybody was a sinner before they came to God,and they stole, and fornicated, and such things, which their conscience testifies it was wrong, but a tattoo, and someone does not know God that might not be so clear to understand do not mark the body.

Tattoos are not the mark of the beast, for the mark has to do with technology to be able to keep track of the world's citizens in an attempt to cut down on crime, for the mark will be linked to satellite, and if a crime happens they will know who was in the location, and how near they were to the crime scene, and can find lost people, and be used for buying and selling, and the mark will contain all information about them that will pop up on computer.

It is the mark of the beast because the world cut God out of the picture, not acknowledging no higher power, and trying to solve their problems on earth, and have peace by their own methods, which they fail miserably, and God puts them down.

All sin can be forgiven, and once you are saved, and all sins forgiven, then those sins do not apply in your life anymore.

But tattoos are pretty minor compared to what some people did,and you can even have occult tattoos, and turn from the occult, and be saved, for it is in your heart that matters,so if it is in your heart to change, then the tattoo means nothing.

Correct! It is always about what hearts motivation is or was. Some have gotten tattoos AFTER meeting God. Such as "Jesus saves" or a bible verse, etc. Did they do it for attention to themselves? Did they do it from great love? THAT involves heart motivation.

Man judges outwardly but God looks at the heart.

There are many tattooed Christians. With tattoos both before and after being saved. Some pastors as well.

You share a very enlightened view that i completely agree with. When thinking about it there is always that doubt but to hear a shared viewed puts worries aside. Thank you for your reply :)

You should check out pastor Bob Beeman. He started pastoring in his early 20s, didn't get his first tattoo till his 50s. He has a video or two up on the subject on YouTube.

I was a wild child. I see it as art personally but as time goes on it only draws the wrong intentions as well as an unspoken judgment.

Our brothers often condemn us and hurt us worse than unbelievers do. And we often do so to them too. We are all learning to forgive and to walk in the Spirit in love and great freedom. :)

Thank you for reply Matt. Just like stunnedbygrace its very enlightening. Tattoos maybe permanent but the person who got it is not and can change.

Nope tattoos are not the mark . Folks do need to get past the outside. Sad thing I don't believe that's happening soon enough. For me I don't like them ,but don't hold it against anyone.I do have one though . Actually my tattoo was instrumental in my decision to get sober .I woke up one morning and said where did that come from .
Blessings
