Ravi is a well known apologist. He goes into things in depth in order to make the sceptic think. He is deeply rooted and Biblically sound. The only problem I have with him is keeping interest when listening to his accent at length.

Here's what his statement of faith on his website reads:

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day "he rose from the dead"; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
We believe the Old and New Testaments to be the infallible Word of God; inerrant as originally given, verbally inspired by God, the complete and sufficient revelation of His will for salvation and conduct.
We believe in the Great Commission; to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth. Amen.

That I have in bold, and in quotations marks, tells these eyes, anyways, that, this ravi, whatever, whoever....Does not believe that it was the Spirit of GOD, that raised Jesus Christ FROM the dead! Thus PROVING, HIS authority over life AND death, by the raising of HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN? Tells me, to stay away from this guy!

I have. I had to watch his series on demonic influence in media for my youth ministry class when I attended Bible college.

I haven't watched any of his other stuff. I feel he's pretty extreme.
What do you mean "pretty extreme"?

Seems rather flimsy 'evidence'. One line not worded to your personal preference and he's no good? That line doesn't specify one way or another. It's a harsh judgment for something you have no actual proof of.

For me. Ravi Zacharias is very good in an academic sense. He can argue his point and can use reason to defend the faith based on Scripture.

If you are into apologetics I prefer Michael Ramsden.

I found this and two articles on his website written by his employees stating clearly God rose Jesus from the dead.
Such a quick, easy search to find facts, rather than make judgments off of the wording of one line.

Excellent apologist, I don't agree with everything he says, but he's biblically consistent.

One of the things I disagree with him on is that he feels that evolution and creationism are both acceptable.

I would STRONGLY agree with graceNPeace, Ravi is an apologist (which necessitates a different approach than the garden variety preacher). Listen to any of his videos on youtube and you'll get a quick taste of 1) his biblically solid foundation, 2) his deep personal experience and commitment to the Lord, and 3) the wisdom he employs to answer those who would challenge or deny the Truth of God's Son.

One comment above stated, "...I don't listen any more because I don't like to think too much.."

EXACTLY the reason we need individuals like RAVI, to wake up the Church and cause them to USE the mind that God has given us!

DEFINITELY check him out if you want to deepen your understanding of God's Word and plan.

Haha, that's me. I feel I've exhausted everything I needed to learn from him. As much as I love Ravi, there are many teachers for different seasons in life. I do think he's better geared toward the non-christians.

I think, as R.Z., that we should use apologetics to always be able to defend our faith. Not to sound like a bunch of loonies lead by an invisible God. To be able to reason that Jesus is Messiah based on prophecies and the many that bore witness, is pure logic. But it takes more than logic to believe Jesus is Lord. And apologetics without the Holy Spirit and a strong and burning faith in and love for Christ it is only empty words. I think he has that love and faith, and I think he can touch many with his preaching.

I'm so hungry I could eat a Ravioli.
Ravi's middle name is not Oli :D

His full name is Frederick Antony Ravi Kumar Zacharias :)

He is the author of numerous Christian books, including the Gold Medallion Book Award winner Can Man Live Without God? in the category "theology and doctrine" and Christian bestsellers Light in the Shadow of Jihad and The Grand Weaver.

Zacharias grew up in a nominal Anglican household, and says that he was an atheist until the age of 17 when he tried to commit suicide by swallowing poison. While in the hospital, a local Christian worker brought him a Bible and told his mother to read to him from John 14. Zacharias says that it was John 14:19 that touched him and meant to him as the defining paradigm: "Because I live, you also will live." He said that he thought, "This may be my only hope: A new way of living. Life as defined by the Author of Life." and that he committed his life to Christ praying, "Jesus if You are the one who gives life as it is meant to be, I want it. Please get me out of this hospital bed well, and I promise I will leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of truth." (from wiki)

Ravi has a show on the Christian radio station here and it must be at lunchtime because that is when I hear him. Seems like a decent guy who has some good insights on humanity and Christianity.
