What church/ denomination does he belong to?
Are his teachings bionically sound?

Not sure what you meant by *bionically sound*. But check out his web site and assess him for yourself.

I once saw him in person about, oh, thirty years ago... seemed "ok" then. Very interesting speaker.

Not sure what he says/believes now.

Ravi is like a lot of people on here and elsewhere: he rarely uses Scripture, which is where the power is; 1 Corinthians 2:5.

Here's what his statement of faith on his website reads:
STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
We believe the Old and New Testaments to be the infallible Word of God; inerrant as originally given, verbally inspired by God, the complete and sufficient revelation of His will for salvation and conduct.
We believe in the Great Commission; to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth. Amen.

Sorry, that was a typo. I meant biblically sound.
No problem. Just be aware that Ravi does not seem to take a firm stand on many biblical issues. But check him out for yourself.

I have. I had to watch his series on demonic influence in media for my youth ministry class when I attended Bible college.

I haven't watched any of his other stuff. I feel he's pretty extreme.

I've heard of him. Even listened to him on the radio a time or two. But I must not be too familiar with him. All this time I thought his name was Robby Zacharias. :)

I've listened to a fair amount (20+ hours?) of his speeches and QA sessions. He is solidly Christian, though perhaps could be accused of using too many stories and not enough Bible. I certainly haven't heard anything I would consider heretical from him. That all said, best to do as Nehemiah6 suggested and check him out for yourself.

I don't think he meets the reformed Calvinist standard some here feel inclined to impose. When he is on the radio I don't pay much attention to him. I do not like his presentation.

I, too, have. Used to subscribe to his podcast and read one of his books (walking from east to west - his life story).

I liked the way his mind works (he once mentioned his faith to have started out like Timothy's - the doubting apostle). I was new to the faith then and I referred to his podcasts for when I had to deal with Atheists.

I don't listen to him anymore, now. But that's mostly because his analogies are sometimes too deep and I don't like thinking too much. XD I've also found other speakers and learning materials. :D

I love how he speaks the truth no matter how it affects others.
I think he is very strong in The Lord and the power of His might.
He pulls at my heart every time I listen to him

I would have to say my favorite radio speaker is Dr David Jeremiah daivdjeremiah.org
Or Chuck Swindol insight.org
These Preachers preach right from Gods Word and then break down the verses to make it fit into our lives.
That I believe is what a preacher should do.
This is the way The Holy Spirit works in lives too.
Right now, Dr Jeremiah is preaching on loneliness which is what we all feel.
Check it out...
Let me know what you think

I sometimes hear Ravi's radio program while I am driving in my car.
His tag line is, "Helping the thinker believe; helping the believer think."
His program may be called, Let My People Think.

He has been a Christian apologist for about forty years, so his style is
not quite like that of a regular preacher. He travels around to speaking
engagements geared to all kinds of people who are seeking truth. As such
his talks are often in universities and places of higher learning, and quite
anecdotal. He answers people's questions, and is very knowledgeable.

Magenta has the best description of Ravi Zacharias - he is a Christian apologist.
This means he debates people who are outside the faith of Christianity.
Although what he will debate is firmly based on the Bible he will not always use Christian or biblical buzzwords in his debates. For the same reason he may not always directly quote Scripture either.

An apologist needs to know a lot of comparative theology (one debates anyone from Muslims to Christian Scientists to Moonies) and a lot about physics, biology, geology, psychology, and archeology (one debates plenty of scientists and others who are into scientism - worshipping science as end in itself).

Individuals like him are rare and important to the Church.

Ravi Zacharias, amongst other apologists as well, deserve our respect...
