I was wondering how many of you who are cessationists, who do not believe in I Corinthians 12 gifts operating in this day and age have been diagnosed or have ever demonstrated symptoms of mental illness.

And I take it that you are an incarnation of Sigmund Freud and will make all mental illnesses vanish away? Where did you come you with this *crazy* idea as posted above?

And what particular gift you are referring to Presidente since there are still gifts in operation as of today...

I can't edit the poll, but if you believe any of the 9 gifts/manifestations in the first list in I Corinthians 12 are no more operation, let's call that a 'cessationist' for the purpose of this discussion.

No, of course not. I'm not a big believer in clinical psychology, and if I were one, I wouldn't be Freudian.

I got this 'crazy' idea from the post asking if people who heard the audible voice of God had had mental illness.

Maybe not cessationists, but if you watch protests incited by Obama and Soros using antifa,it is clear all of them are insane big time.

Pretty clear also that Hillary,Pelosi, and McCain have also lost their minds/ sold them to the devil.

Now,those blown out for Jesus, such as Paul and Christ himself would be considered,by secular psych "doctors" to be mentally ill.

Imagine the leading Ph.D.'s discussing Jesus'" condition"..." ..he is suffering from...."

OP where is the gracious spirit Christians are supposed to exhibit in this thread? Are we to assume if you fail to prove whatever it is that you are attempting to prove that the inverse is true? Are charismatics or Pentecostals mentally ill if they speak in ecstatic utterances?

The Holy Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

You will set at variance those who still believe that with the completion of the NT revelation three gifts ended.

1Co 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

The op is responding to the idea put forth in another thread tying mental illness to the gifts or cessationists. ( can't remember which)

While not an outright statement the tone if this poll seems to be "I'm trying to link mental illness and cessationism".
Likely few want anything to with that, public or private.

I seriously doubt the Holy Spirit would guide a person to create such a poll

You left off one option. "None of the above"

A word of caution from Christ.

Matthew 5:22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool!' will be liable to the hell of fire.

To me?...It's like if one believes in a "latter rain?"....BAM!....Yer a NUT CASE! And yeah? In the eyes of declining america morals and values, many christians try hard to uphold to, in the "unveiling" of the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit? Not to mention the proponents of the beast? Yep? What with nuclear war with "rocket man", on the horizon, not to mention, just what sort of opportunities countries like russia, er iran, er pakistan, have up thier collective sleeves?.....ain't it jez GREAT, to be crazy?...LOL!

What a nice Christian way to approach such a topic....

You know, I logged on here today to request prayers for my cousin and his congregation. There was a mass shooting at a church in Tennessee yesterday. My cousin was the minister there. He, his wife, along with others were shot. One lady died. I came here to ask for prays for not only the victims but the shooter. After this vile thread im very discouraged.

I know what you mean. I knew the minister. He went to my old school. He was a bible teacher there. The first thing i thought of was the poor shooter. Hell is an awful place and,it's not my place to judge, but there may be a chance he is down there and if so then im sure he is thinking the same thing i am. I wish this all could have been prevented.
