Both. He chose us before the foundation of the earth because He foreknew we would chose to be righteous. He foreknew "Wide is the road that leads to destruction and most enter through it, and narrow is the road that leads to life and only a few find it." Even in the Old Testament- only eight of Noah and his family were saved in the whole world because God found him righteous- which means Noah chose to obey God of His own freewill.

The thief on the cross chose to do what is right- therefore chose righteous- therefore chose God.

God chooses those who love and obey Him.

He chose us is the biblical position.

I think God has chosen him before the creation of the Universe and then gave him mercy to believe in Christ.

before the foundation of the earth God plan to create Adam and Eve to be choose as His lover, create Eden like heaven for them.

God not create them for hell. God is love, He want every body save, He choose every body to be save, but He give us a free will, to choose

First God choose us than if we choose to believe we save

God choose every body, but not every body choose Him

there are 2 thief on the cross, one choose Him other not.

Ephesians 2New King James Version (NKJV)

By Grace Through Faith

2 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
salvation is not our work, salvation is the work of Jesus on the cross, all we can do is to choose to believe. He give us freedom, freedom is also a give. Up to us to choose. When we choose to believe, we save. To choose is not a ground reason to boast.

God is love, if he only choose some to heaven without reason, that mean God choose other to be burn without reason and it is not love.

Dependent creature cannot have FREE will, but must work with what is given to it. Its will can be free only in some small specific boundaries, not in any absolute sense.

Secondly, if God chose everybody, He would also save everybody. But He said that "many are called, few are chosen", not "all are chosen".

It is not quite that simple. God chose the entire human race to worship Him and have fellowship with Him. But sin entered into the world and separated human beings from God. Therefore He sent His only begotten Son to purchase the redemption of all human beings by laying upon Him the iniquity of us all. However only those who obey the Gospel are redeemed and reconciled to God. Obedience to the Gospel means repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21).

God offers the gift of salvation -- the gift of eternal life -- to all. But only those who turn away from their sins and idols and turn to Christ for salvation receive that gift. So in one sense God chooses all of humanity, but in another sense He chooses (predestines) those who have been saved to be transformed into the image of His Son. God does not play favorites, neither is He a respecter of persons. Therefore the commandment to the Church is to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. If every sinner would repent and believe, every sinner would be saved. God will have ALL MEN to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:3-6).

Both are true, and in fact must be true in order for sincerity of love in our relationship with God to exist. But it is also true that God first chose us; the student is never above his Master, the Creator is always over the created, the Lordship of Christ is as important as His Savior position in our life of loving Him properly and productively.. This is obvious, for He blew life and spirit into mankind making us likened to the Triune Head. God delights in our fellowship and has chosen us to be co-workers with Him on earth, and has made us to sit hidden in Christ Jesus in heaven as His Family as well; even, yet, while on earth. Without our will being employed by God after first loving us, we would and could not be a Holy people despite His ability to empower us. We must pick up our cross daily and follow Him as well in righteousness. Without the Holy Spirit's work in us, all spiritual productivity is null and void. Thus, as the Holy Spirit leads so must we go, and as we go so goes His empowerment in us. We have His Word on this.

"Whosoever believeth" (John 3:16).. We are chosen after we demonstrate a desire to believe, just as the malefactor did at the cross.. I don't think God will choose those who deny Christ, but certainly reveals himself to those who come by faith. Its not God's desire that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9), but as Jesus told many that came to him; "Thy faith has made thee whole". Belief is a choice, faith is a choice, I don't believe God forces or a person to be faithful, but He knows the hearts of some like Paul, whom He predestinate's.

yep, I agree. God is love, it is mention in the Bible thousand time. He love every body and want every body happy, he offer a way to heaven, then up to every body to obey or not

Yep, God choose us and every body to be His lover, because God is love. But He also give a freedom to us to choose. Both salvation and freedom are a gift.

God is love, if he only choose some to heaven without reason, that mean God choose other to be burn without reason and it is not love.
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (NKJV)

John 6:29

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent. (NKJV)

The NLT renders is differently.

John 6:29
29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

To be honest I don’t know if I chose Jesus or he chose me.
There are bible verses that say “predestined”

The problem here is if we feel that a person has been predestined for salvation we can sit back, (not generally) but on certain occassions and just think “no point speaking the gospel to them because they won’t respond”

I have done that a couple of times and God pulled me up on it, “You don’t know who is going to respond, be the witness I have asked you to be”

A few days God placed me in a situation where I could respond to such a person.
3 times he asked me to go and offer to pray. I did on the 3rd time. This person was s fellow director, built up many a successful company and saved a few. Trust me this man did not suffer fools lightly.

So I plucked up my courage, closed the door behind me in his office.
Told him that God could work in his situation.
Asked him his things were going, then gulped and asked “Can I pray for you?
To my surprise he said yes

I prayed and when he finished he looked at me with tearful eyes.

”Bill how can I believe in a loving God who allowed a drunk driver kill my mother when I was 8 and leave a husband devestated until he died 40 years later”

My heart sank and I couldn’t answer it.

When I went for my coffee break at lunchtime I asked God what this was all about.

He said “Now you have an insight behind this man and now a focus for prayer for him”
Lesson learned.

2 years ago he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, a rare type that could be treated but the operation was complex.

Guess who asked me to pray? Yes him, but not just him.

His sister sent out updates whilst he was off work, not only to me but to all his other friends as well. A group message.
I had met her a few times but I had never told her I was a Christian.

Every update she sent she ended it with “Bill will you please continue to pray for him?

So he had obviously told her about me and now approx 40 people on the list saw that last sentence.

Now he hasn’t responded to the gospel, nor his sister, but now approx 42 people know something of the gospel.

So as I said I don’t know the answer to the OP.
Its not something I try figure out.

I just figure that cause I don’t know I must keep doing and being the person God has asked me to be.
Pray for opportunities to come alongside, even if they seem beyond hope.

If they are willing to listen then we just might get to see behind the scenes of a person not willing to believe. Just like my co-director. Personal tragedy, that now as when I remeber I pray into.

Seeds sown.

When the disciples/apostles first went out I am sure they would have no idea who would be saved and who wouldn’t.
Whether God chose them or the other way around. They went about their business as ordained by God.

God desires those who worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

Without faith it is impossible to please God.

God does not force anybody to choose to go to hell.

Predestination makes things certain, but not necessary. Thats why it will surely happen but we are responsible.

Why ask, if you don't want to know?

This reminds me of this one

Except those two were genuinely enjoying each other without looking down their nose at each other. This is done out of anger and hate on here.
