Even baby Christians know the word, "Rapture" is not in the Bible. No one argues that, and I certainly brought up nothing about a specific "word". I said the Rapture (the entire concept of secretly being whisked away) is totally foreign to the Bible. It has been invented by piecing together parts of unrelated verses taken from various sections of the book.
Uh-huh. I take it you didn't even bother watching the vid.

The Bible IS ONE Book! Even baby Christians should know that.

There was no need to continue past v 28, you are trying to prove something that was future to Pentecost as happening at Pentecost - v31 is irrelevant to the point

V 31 is within the context of the passage, maybe if you push delete, it will get rid of it for you.

Were there earthquakes, wars, famines, were the apostles persecuted before the dest of Jeru?

Many things described in the passages happen before the dest..

The kingdom coming at Pentecost was another one.

Are you trying to say that the kingdom didn't come at Pentecost?

That the kingdom came at the dest of Jeru.?

It would be nice if you could answer a question that is asked of you.

Mat 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Was salvation at Matt 12:28?
Jesus is the king, the kingdom was established on Pentecost.

Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Was Mark 1:15 the day of salvation?
Notice that John said that it was at hand.

The day of salvation is the kingdom age.

You just can't focus on one line of text to try and back up your position AB.
You can't delete them from the passage either, as you would like to do with v 31.

=================

Show me that the kingdom came at the dest of Jerusalem.

Tell me how salvation and redemption came to those trapped inside the city after it was surrounded by the Romans.

Tell me how Paul was expecting his salvation at the dest of Jerusalem (Ro 13:11, your verse and interpretation), when he was in a prisoner in Rome and never saw Jerusalem again?

You're all over the place AB - Paul stated that they were looking for the coming salvation:

Rom 13:1 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

If it was "nearer" when Paul wrote then salvation wasn't at Pentecost, unless you think the letter to the Romans was written before Pentecost.

Rom 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

The "day is at hand" - what day do you suppose he was speaking of?

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Acts 2:19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

Peter here is saying the prophecy of Joel was coming true - and this echoes what Jesus said in Luke 21:25.

Explain to me how the prophecies of Joel in Acts 2:19-20 were fulfilled before or on the day of Pentecost.

Another thing to consider AB is the following:

Heb 9:28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

From the above it can be seen that salvation was not at Pentecost (this second appearing is to fulfill the type of the high priests sacrificial day of atonement offering).

And we are told this "second time" was coming in a little while:

Heb 10:37 For yet in a very little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.

A very little while is not 1900+ years later.

I believe if we live as if the world was ending in 5 minutes and love one another and have faith in who God says we are and what He has done for us then if we indeed witness the "end of the world" we will be prepared for whatever may come. That said I do not believe we are in the end times. Every generation has said how bad it has become but that is because we as humans tend to look at history with rose colored glasses. The world is not at war, we are not dropping nuclear bombs on people, there are no mass plagues and there is enough food for everyone though greed and politics conspire to keep many hungry. Can we do better?? Of course. Are we living in the most healthy, peaceful time in the last 5000 years? Probably. I think we are better served to be thankful for what we have than to pine for a past that was never as rosy as we remember it to be.
What uptopia are you living in??????.......We, the World, have soldiers being killed everyday, just about everywhere, Christians are being persecuted for their faith by the thousands (in fact, during the 20th century, more True Christians were killed then all of the previous 5000 years added together. Yet you say we are all ok.

And of course, the preterist and other non-believers will agree with you. I think you have kept you head in the hole Alice fell into. Come on GET REAL!

I can tell you this, the Birth pangs as spoken of by Jesus are in full tilt with world war simply a finger press away. Remember the restrainer is still here therefore HIS Church is still on earth. Until they are retrieved by Jesus in the "AIR" the mainstay of God's Wrath will be Well,,Restrained. I really do hope you are ready???????Because only 'Faith Alone without WORKS' will DO!

If I were anybody who really wants to know what is going on, I do believe I would be watching Israel and all those prophecies that have not been fulfilled YET. How long will it be before Damascus is destroyed for the first time; how about the reactor's in Elam (Iran); how about the overrunning of Jordan; how about the Psalm 83 WAR? to name a few of those prophecies.

Israel is GOD's Time Clock!

He was not speaking of redemption via death, his or the Romans

The redemption/salvation that Jesus said would begin at that time - when Jerusalem was surrounded by armies

Locutus,

Sorry, sometimes it takes awhile for me to get back on this.

Again, I will answer your questions, but you don't answer mine.

===

1. How is it, that there was redemption/salvation for the people in Jerusalem when it was surrounded by the Roman armies?

They all died or were killed, or taken as slaves.

=====

2. Paul was a prisoner in Rome, he was dead, apparently he did not receive salvation/redemption when Jerusalem was destroyed, he wasn't there.

How did he receive salvation?

===

3.This thread is about the end of the world/planet.

When does life on this planet end? 70 ad?

The Biblw IS one book, but we abuse the daylights out of it when we try to make it say things that are not there.

Many have heard the story of the man whose devotional reading consisted of cracking his Bible at random and reading the first verse his finger touched. One morning this was his verse for the day: "And Judas went out and hanged himself."
That can't be it, he thought. So he tried again. "Go thou and do likewise" was his second hit.

Chagrined, he thought, The third time is a charm! It wasn't. It read: "What thou doest, do quickly!"

Also the bible is not "one book" its a collection of books. The name "bible" itself means a library.

It would be nice if God arranged for the signs of the end of the world with a climactic ominous music suddenly playing in the atmosphere all around the world like it does in the movies.

But all of Jesus's warning to His disciples was for this point; be prepared to go now to escape the fire coming on the earth; Luke 12:40-49 Do not love your life more like Lot's wife had done when it is time to go; Luke 17:26-33 That the cares of life can be a snare to tempt believers not to leave so pray for help to leave; Luke 21:33-36; As even a christian honeymoon couple may not want to leave; Luke 14:15-24 That is what it means to consider the cost in being His disciples: Luke 14:25-33

The call to preparedness also includes asking Him to help them see any iniquity that they are in so they can lean on Him or help to depart from it because any believer found in unrepentant iniquity that denies Him, they will be denied by Him ( Luke 13:24-30 & 2 Timothy 2:12-13 ) as well as disqualified to be received as a vessel unto honor in His House to attend the Marriage Supper in His honor and to His glory and to the glory of God the Father.

So regardless of the signs of the times that other believers share here to prompt believers that the end might be nearer than one thinks; be ready NOW by going before that throne of grace for that help.

Cute story.

Has ZERO to do with what I'm talking about.

The fact remains you pick and choose what you want to believe in Scripture.

It might be more helpful if you had a handy dandy list of Bible passages you believe vs. those you allegorize.

Yeah. I think this is a big part of the problem. OF COURSE the Bible is COMPOSED of 66 books by over 40 authors, but it IS ONE BOOK, from God. And if you chop it up to mean anything different than that, you are in error.

That's interesting. So which of the books would you select to pattern your life after, to the exclusion of others?

This is a fact. But, we even chop up single books.

Look at what we have done to the phrase "this generation" spoken by Jesus in both Matthew 23 and Matthew 24. We have made them out to mean different timeframes.

Tommy, while I AM looking forward to His return.....and while I hate the way the world seems to be going....I will wait patiently and watch in awe the beauty of this world. A little kitten playing with a simple "toy" - a leaf gently flowing down from tree - the thrill of fishing and finally hooking dinner - watching a baby sleep - listening to the sweet songs of birds in the trees - or listening to the sounds in the woods as my dog and I walk- hearing the melodious voices as the church stands together and sing a cappella song of praise and worship........ETC.

Yes, it seems that the world is on a collision course with disaster ..........but GOD knows what is going on. Things will change in HIS timing...not ours.

While we wait on Him, we can enjoy all that He has created....and be thankful :)

Tommy and I have probably let ourselves become a little jaded, due to the people we have worked with for so long. So, I guess we will have to try a little harder to notice the kittens around us. But, we can do it.

There is still a lot of beauty out there in God's creation. Just got to get out away from all the man made stuff.
Get out of civilization and see what God has done and enjoy.
That's why I live out here in the country.:cool:
