A snake in itself is not evil, they are simply a creature. Satan is called a snake because a snake is a very crafty predator. So imo a snake can represent evil but it is not evil itself.

snakes/serpents get a bad rep IMO.

Matthew 10:16
“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

First, it's a snake in your path, and you don't go that way. Then it's a cloud over the sun on your way to work. Then it's the song on the radio which steers you. Then it's the horoscope which somehow seems to fit your mood. It leads to folly.

Trust in Jesus, not in omens. God may occasionally guide you using animals, things, or events in the real world, but it's more likely that He will guide you by His Spirit and His word.

Superstition is not good and never advocated in Scripture.

Snakes and wolves provide the best rodent control of all God's creatures; and without them most of the world's food supply would be endangered. Most snakes are not poisonous; but the few that are should be avoided when possible.

Snakes symbolize evil because they are sly and crafty predators.

I only asked because i read genesis and it said god cursed the serpent and wondered if that meant something might be bad. the day avoided that path there was a rape later that day it was sad. i just wondered if the snake was just a coincidence. i think snaked are very cute just wondered. also i'm not past genesis so i didn't really know if its a thing that comes up again about the snakes. thanks for you're guys responses i learned a lot :D

This is not a dumb question,Andy, this question is relevant(purposeful for it ties in with the bible),my answer would be yes and no,for depending on what part of the bible snakes are spoken of,or in life the use of snakes as symbols,I myself was a bit perplexed(rather confused) on this same question, because Satan is referred to as "that old serpent"(snake)
but God has used snakes as a symbol too,for example when he changed a staff to a snake in front of pharoah,he was showing that he can make any creation of his whether animate or inanimate, live, whether temporarily or permanently,so it really depends on how the symbol of a snake is used, like a modern example of snake symbol misinterpretation and thus wicked in use,is snake churches, taking on scripture out of context and declaring that they "must take of serpents" this was never what that verse meant,it refers only to that to do,right by God one will endure and overtake things along one's path(particularly directed toward Jesus's disciples, and apostles, and all devout followers)
so you see,so depending on a snake symbol's usage it can be either good or evil,so it would be a no as to the question of is it evil to use a snake symbol in anyway, but depending upon it's use it can be good or evil, and always used for evil if the symbol from the bible is misinterpreted just as with scripture, because they one can delude one's self to think they do right by God,there is always a "right" and "wrong" way to use anything God has given us.

You'll find many a time that satan's symbols and God's symbols are similar but different,so continue reading the bible with that in mind.

If it's a copperhead, rattler, cottonmouth, or coral, it's best to leave it alone. Otherwise, I think they're kind of cute. Might bite me, but if it's not poisonous, it's not any different than being beaten by a turtle.

Don't go getting all superstitious on us now. God is real. Superstition isn't.

Yes the snake once walked but after lending Itself to the devil It was put In FULL contact with the earth,IMO,this symbolizes a fleshly mind set only believing what can be seen touched tasted heard or felt.

A snake is generally hazardous to your health and wellbeing. So avoid snakes at every opportunity, and avoid living in areas where snakes about. However, it is not superstition but plain commonsense to avoid snakes.

If I was going for a walk and saw a snake, I wouldn't be heading in the same direction.

Notice that God cursed the serpent . When the definite article the is used, the specific one spoken of is the only one involved.

In this case the serpent refers to Satan, and is used figuratively. Satan is not really a serpent or a dragon; he is a fallen angel.

Hello Andy
Here my opinion. Sometimes a snake is just a snake . If we are to be looking constantly for signs we are going to miss out on what’s around us . Yea I would say stay clear of the snake . It’s a wild animal. It is not a sign of some impending event .
MarcR has some insight on the scripture you referenced concerning the serpent in the garden in a post above.
Blessings
