The last day is when Christ comes to take His people home, and this sun, moon, and earth will be destroyed.
This is definitely NOT the last day, since all of this cannot be jumbled together (as you have stated). If you are referring to the cataclysmic cosmic events which follow and accompany the Great Tribulation, then those events precede the second coming of Christ.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Mt 24:29,30).

But long before that, Christ has already come to take His people home at the Resurrection/Rapture.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1-3).

Otherwise how could he possibly come WITH His saints unless He had already come FOR His saints? And since "the last day" includes the resurrection of both the just and the unjust, it is actually a period of time extending over 1,000 years.

1. The return of Christ for His saints has always been imminent.
Wouldn't be waiting for the return of Christ indicate that they must have missed the doing part [See James 1:22] in consideration of faith being believing all things, searching and making inquiring, trying the spirits (words), thus examining the word within?

And thus, in conclusion proving the substance of our hope since it is written in 2 Cor 13:5 that those waiting might be considered as those who are ever learning never able to come to the knowledge of the truth [See 1 Tim 2:4] being children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [See Eph 4:14]

Are you serious in stringing all these Scriptures together to suggest that those who expect the return of Christ for the saints are simply sitting idly by, doing nothing, or involved in every wind of doctrine? That is quite an attack on a fundamental Bible truth. So what do you believe about the return of Christ for the Church?

it depends on when you were, are living for those who died befor the cruxifiction they were raised at the time the graves were open and the LORD led those from paradise. Now for those in the church age who died they will be raised at the rapture in revelations 4 vs 1 . Then those befor the 1000 year reign will be raised before that time period..

I am not confused in respect to the Day of the Lord and the second coming of Jesus with the angels.

Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle....And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives... and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. (Zech 14:3-5)
First is the marriage feast of the bride (the Spirit-filled Church) and the bridegroom (Jesus) afterwards we who
are transformed and put on immortality will then come back down to earth (the Mount of Olives) and enter
what remains of Jerusalem with our Lord and God and the angels.
And we shall rule and reign with him.

The judgement before the great white throne is a second event reserved for all others that are not part of
the first resurrection.

Pretty straight forward. Explained quite well in the scriptures for all to understand.
