Luke 8:11-12 NKJV
[11] "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. [12] Those by
the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away
the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Luke 8:12 AMPC
[12] Those along the traveled road are the people who have heard; then
the devil comes and carries away the message out of their hearts, that
they may not believe (acknowledge Me as their Savior and devote
themselves to Me) and be saved here and hereafter.

Ive seen lots of discussions on here about God’s role and our role in being
saved and the various debates. But I don’t think I’ve ever come across a thread
about the devil’s role. Do we underestimate the devils role and blame God too much
when people aren’t saved.

Its interesting as well that this seed was easy to get at, it didn’t go deep it was in
plain sight and easily destroyed. I wonder what that means about those people
concerned, after all they did receive something.

This is a very deep thought, these verses come to mind... But im going to look a bit more.

James 1:12-18, “Blessed is the man who does endure trial, for when he has been proved, he shall receive the crown of life which the Master has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is enticed, “I am enticed by Yah,” for Yah is not enticed by evil matters, and He entices no one. But each one is enticed when he is drawn away by his own desires and trapped. hen, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin. And sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death. Do not go astray, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of light, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of turning. Having purposed it, He brought us forth by the Word of truth, for us to be a kind of first-fruits of His creatures.”

Psalm 11:4, "יהוה is in His holy temple; יהוה throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men."

Deuteronomy 30:19, “I have called the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both you and your seed.”

Deuteronomy 11:26, “See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse.”

Deuteronomy 30:15, “See, I have set before you today life and good, and death and evil.”

James 1:12, “Blessed is the man who does endure trial, for when he has been proved, he shall receive the crown of life which the Master has promised to those who love Him."

Revelation 3:10, “Because you have guarded My Word of endurance, I also shall guard you from the hour of trial which shall come upon all the world, to try those who dwell on the earth."

1 Peter 5:1-11, “Therefore, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Messiah, and also a sharer of the esteem that is to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you: Shepherd the flock of Yah which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but voluntarily, not out of greed for filthy gain, but eagerly,"neither as being masters over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you shall receive the never-fading crown of esteem. In the same way, you younger ones, be subject to elders. And gird yourselves with humility toward one another, for “Yah resists the proud, but gives favor to the humble.” Humble yourselves, then, under the mighty hand of Yah, so that He exalts you in due time, casting all your worry upon Him, for He is concerned about you. Be sober, watch, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in the belief, knowing that the same hardships are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. And the Might of all favor, who called you to His everlasting esteem by Messiah יהושע, after you have suffered a while, Himself perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the esteem and the might forever and ever. Awmĕn."

Romans 12:1-2, “I call upon you, therefore, brothers, through the compassion of Yah, to present your bodies a living offering – set-apart, well-pleasing to Yah – your reasonable worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Yah.”

Strong's Concordance – 2999 - latreia: service, Original Word: λατρεία, ας, ἡ, Part of Speech: Noun, Femininem Transliteration: latreia, Phonetic Spelling: (lat-ri'-ah), Short Definition: service, worship, Definition: service rendered to God, perhaps simply: worship.

Worshgip in Hebrew;

Worship is word #H5647עָבַד - ‛âbad, aw-bad'; A primitive root; to work (in any sense); by implication to serve, till, (causatively) enslave, etc.:— X be, keep in bondage, be bondmen, bond-service, compel, do, dress, ear, execute, + husbandman, keep, labour (-ing man), bring to pass, (cause to, make to) serve (-ing, self), (be, become) servant (-s), do (use) service, till (-er), transgress [from margin], (set a) work, be wrought, worshipper.

I think it lines up with what Paul is saying here;

Romans 6:16, "Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey—whether of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to Righteousness?"

Do we underestimate the devils role and blame God too much when people aren’t saved.
There is absolutely no question that Scripture makes it clear that the Devil, his evil angels, and demons are adamantly opposed to the Gospel and the salvation of souls. They know that their fate is eternal Hell -- the Lake of Fire -- and they wish to drag all of humanity into Hell. It is only by the grace of God, the power of the Gospel, and the convicting and convincing power of the Holy Spirit that sinners are brought to salvation.

So whenever the true Gospel is preached, the Devil and his angels are right there doing their utmost to bring doubt, confusion, indifference, and opposition to the Gospel and the salvation of souls. That is why one of the weapons of our warfare is prayer.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Eph 6:18).

John/Yahanan 8:31, "...If you continue in My doctrine, then you are truly My disciples."

Luke 6:46, "And why call Me; Ruler! Ruler! and do not the things which I say?"

John/Yahanan 14:15, "If you love Me, keep My commandments."

Mat 28:20, “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Mat 24:35, “Heaven and earth may pass away, but My teachings will not pass away.”

John/Yahanan 14:26, "But the Comforter; the Holy Spirit which YHWH will send in My Name will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I (Yahshua/Jesus) have said to you."

John/Yahanan 6:63, "It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words (Instructions) that I (Yahshua/Jesus) speak to you, they are Spirit, and they are life everlasting."

John/Yahanan 6:27, John 6:27, “Do not labor for the food that is perishing, but for the food that is remaining to everlasting life, which the Son of Aḏam shall give you, for the Father, Yah, has set His seal on Him.”

Mat 19:16-17, "And see, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good shall I do to have everlasting life? And He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One – YHWH. But if you wish to enter into life, guard the commands.”

John/Yahanan 14:26, "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

Mat 7:21-27, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but he who is doing the desire of My Father in the heavens. Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’ And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!’” Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does them, shall be like a wise man who built his house on the rock, and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not do them, shall be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand, and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.”

John 12:26, “26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

John 3:36, “He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Yah remains on him.”

John/Yahanan 12:48, "He who rejects Me, and does not follow My words has One Who judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same will be used to judge him in the last day."

John/Yahanan 5:24, "Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn't come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life."

Luke 11:28, But He said, “Blessed rather are those hearing the Word of Yah and watching over it!”

Luke 8:21, “And He answering, said to them, “My mother and My brothers are those who are hearing the Word of Yah and doing it.”

Matthew 12:50, “For whoever does the desire of My Father who is in the heavens is My brother and sister and mother.”

Revelation 22:12-15, "And behold, I come quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work will be. I am the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who keep His Laws, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and worshipers of gods and everyone who professes to love, yet practices falsehood."

John/Yahanan 14:23, "Yahshua answered, and said to him: If a man loves Me, he will keep My teachings and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him."

John/Yahanan 14:16-21, “And I shall ask the Father, and He shall give you another Helper, to stay with you forever. the Spirit of the Truth, whom the world is unable to receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. But you know Him, for He stays with you and shall be in you. I shall not leave you orphans – I am coming to you. Yet a little while, and the world no longer sees Me, but you shall see Me, because I live, and you shall live. In that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who possesses My commands and guards them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and manifest Myself to him.”

They did not receive the Word of God, they just heard it. That is why it was so easy to take away, there was no root of belief of the Word of God. Or as Hebrews puts it in 6:4-8,

“For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit,5 and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come,6 and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.7 For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.8 But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.”

Notice these tasted the Word of God, when believers do not taste they drink.

I Corinthians 12:12-14 “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.”

Those in Hebrews were never believers that drank of the Spirit, how do we know that? The very next verses 6:9-12

“Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things—things that belong to salvation.10 For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.11 And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end,12 so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

Hmm seems convenient either its the devil's fault or God has just given folks up, the people are merely caught in the cross fire, I guess folks will blame just about anything to avoid looking into the mirror.

Every precious stone was your covering: the ruby, topaz, and diamond, beryl, shoham, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald and gold. The workmanship of your settings and mountings was prepared for you on the day you were created. You were the anointed keruḇ that covered. And I placed you, you were on the set-apart mountain of Yah. You walked up and down in the midst of stones of fire. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, until unrighteousness was found in you. By the greatness of your trade you became filled with violence within, and you sinned. So I thrust you from the mountain of Yah, and I destroyed you, O covering keruḇ, from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was lifted up because of your loveliness, you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendour. I threw you to the earth, I laid you before sovereigns, to look at you. You profaned your set-apart places by your many crookednesses, by the unrighteousness of your trading. Therefore I brought forth fire from your midst. It has devoured you, and I turned you to ashes upon the earth before the eyes of all who see you. All who knew you among the peoples were astonished at you. Waste you shall be, and cease to be, forever.”[/FONT]

Jeremiah 25:8
Therefore the Lord Almighty says this: “Because you have not listened to my words, 9 I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the Lord, “and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy[a] them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin. 10 I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp. 11 This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12 “But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt,” declares the Lord, “and will make it desolate forever.

Jeremiah 25:15

17 So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand and made all the nations to whom he sent me drink it: 18 Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and officials ...........

27 “Then tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk and vomit, and fall to rise no more because of the sword I will send among you.’ 28 But if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: You must drink it! 29 See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the Lord Almighty.’

You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the Lord Almighty.’

What I'm pointing out is that the prophesy given to Jeremiah is saying because we did not listen to God he is bringing the king of Babylon against us to destroy us. Then later in the prophesy God is telling Jeremiah "tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk and vomit, and fall to rise no more because of the sword I will send among you.’ But if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: You must drink it! See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the Lord Almighty."

The reason I posted these verses was to give back up to what my original post said which was

Yes the devil is responsible for tripping people up. We are all under attack. Because God has given us over to him to trample on

You know... it may not be pleasant however it is true and He warned us for a reason.

Matthew 23:37, "“Yerushalayim, Yerushalayim, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to her! How often I wished to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, but you would not!"

John/Yahanan 10:16, "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one Shepherd (4166 - poimén)."

I think it shows the power satan has over those who have not been born again, And who do not have the spirit of Godto overcome the evil one. Satan is in a war. And he is not going to give up on those who are on the verge of being lost to him, he is going to do all he can. So if we do not just recieve the message of truth, But as Jesus said, Chew and Gnaw on it, and take it in and actually have it change us by having faith in Christ, Satan, who is the father of this world. And the enemy of God will take that seed and just as he did Eve in the garden, Make us question the validity of the message we recieved Before out has an opportunity to take root.

I always find it interesting when people start posting verses.
I have to say I prefer it.. and I often post verses believing all in Christ to receive the same from the Words as I want to share.. it is water for my seed.. warm and comforted by Scripture.. not to say we should not share thoughts.. for we each are given something to share with each other..
