Because nowhere is the so-called fourth commandment even hinted at until Exod 16
.
Well this is not true Valiant. The Sabbath was made at creation and given to Adam and Eve.

Let's look at the scritpures........

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And
ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.
3, And
GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY, and made it HOLY <the 7th day>: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

RESTEDH7673שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}[a primitive root]KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep Sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

Some points to note from the scriptures...............

v1 God completed creation in 6 days and RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v2 God RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v3 God SET APART the 7TH DAY and made THE 7TH DAY a HOLY DAY
v2 The 7TH DAY is part of the FINISHED WORK of the CREATION WEEK

Let's now look at God's 4th commandment............

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
9, Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10, But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
<WHY>
11,
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested theSEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

SABBATH H7676 שַׁבָּת shabbath (shab-bawth') n-e. 1. intermission, a period of temporary rest.2. (specifically) the Sabbath, the seventh day being the day of rest.[intensive from H7673]KJV: (+ every) Sabbath. Root(s): H7673

Now who did God make the 7th day a Holy day for? Is he making that day a Holy day for himself? Of course NOT God is already Holy. He has made the day for MANKIND as a HOLY DAY.

Let’s see what Jesus says…………

Mark 2
27,
And he said unto them, THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR
MAN, and not man for the Sabbath.

The Sabbath was made for WHO? The Sabbath was made for
MAN. So here we have the God of creation telling us why the 7th Day was made a Holy day. It was made for MANKIND

STRONGS Greek
MAN G444 νθρωποςanthropos (an'-thrō-pos) n.
1. (literally) man†-visage (i.e. a man-faced being, a man who has visibly come of age).
2. (concretely, in Hebrew)
a clay being (a classification of beings made in the image of God, who made them male and female). 3. (generically, in English) a human being. 4. (indefinitely) a certain man (i.e. someone).
[from
G435 and ops “the countenance” (from G3700)] KJV: certain, man Root(s): G435, G3700

So the Sabbath was made for Human beings; clay beings (we are made out of the dust); male and female

So God made the 7th day of the week a HOLY day and blessed it for MAN this now ties in very nicely with the 4th commandment (Exodus 20:8-11)

God says that it is a specific day which is the 7TH DAY OF THE WEEK that he has made to be a HOLY DAY. Jesus says it was made Holy in the creation week for mankind. All scriptures connect and are in harmony. Genesis where God made the Day a HOLY DAY; God’s 4th commandment to His people that says to REMEMBER the Sabbath day to KEEP it a HOLY DAY and Jesus stating that the Sabbath was made for MANKIND (Human beings; male and female).

Now if God made the Sabbath for mankind then obviously Adam and Eve had the Sabbath the
GREEK Word for MAN G444 νθρωποςanthropos (an'-thrō-pos) n. is a clay being (a classification of beings made in the image of God, who made them male and female). There is only two people made out of clay (dust) and that is Adam and Eve.

Yep God's Sabbath given to mankind in the Garden of Eden and made in the Creation WEEK. Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE it. Those that do not BELIEVE God's Word are UNBELIVERS and UNBELIEVERS have no part in God's Kingdom.

...............

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men everywhere to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

Behold, the Lord GOD helps Me; Who is he who condemns Me?
Behold, they will all wear out like a garment; The moth will eat them.
Who is among you that fears the LORD, That obeys the voice of His servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.
Behold, all you who kindle a fire, Who encircle yourselves with firebrands,
Walk in the light of your fire And among the brands you have set ablaze
This you will have from My hand: You will lie down in torment.

(Isaiah 50:9-11)

Lift up your eyes to the sky, Then look to the earth beneath; For the sky will vanish like smoke, And the earth will wear out like a garment And its inhabitants will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not wane.
(Isaiah 51:6)

He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.
(Deuteronomy 4:13)

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.

(Hebrews 8:6)

In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
(Hebrews 8:13)

Now if the ministry of death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at the face of Moses because of its fleeting glory, will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?
(2 Corinthians 3:7-8)

This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.
(Matthew 26:28)

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died -- more than that, who was raised to life -- is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
(Romans 8:34)

The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.
(Psalm 34:22)

And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.

(John 6:39)

amen, who is like Him?

You do err not knowing the scriptures my friend. Do you kill the violator for breaking any of the other commandments from the same CIVIL laws of the nation of Israel like adultery? We are indeed in the New Covenant and not in the OLD Covenant living under the CIVIL laws of Israel.

Hello Jackson,

You cannot disregard and ignore the OLD Testament scriptures that are the foundation of the NEW Testament. The NEW Testament is built on the Old Testament and together they are the Word of God and is why God's Word says;

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16)

and again....

Man does not live by bread alone but by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)

The Old Testament bears witness to the NEW Testament. Together theses are the two great witnesses that agree together. The Old Testament was the bible of Jesus and the Apostles and is where the NEW Testament scriptures come from. To ignore the Old Testament is to ignore the Word of God and can lead you into a false interpretation of God's Word. The OLD bears witness to the NEW and together they are in harmony with each other.

Origin of the Sabbath..... God's 4th Commandment.... READ POST 3622 linked with scripture for more details.

Genesis 2

The commandments is given to all mankind as a memorial of Creation. It is God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandments and we are to remember that God is our creator and keep the 7th day of every week as a holy day. The 7th Day of every week is to be a holy day and no work is to be done on it this day whatsoever.

BUILDING on the OLD to the NEW Testament scriptures which are the two great witnesess the NEW BUILDING on the OLD. The Old Testament scriptures are the foundation of the NEW. This is what it means to build your house on the ROCK and not on sand.

* No uneccessary work to be done on the Sabbath especially business and secular work and housework and work that can be done any other day of the week. It is a day of rest and worship and time dedicated to God.

* We are to prepare for the Sabbath by preparing all meals food and completing houseword and other bussiness and shopping as this is to be avoided on the Sabbath where possible and done before the Sabbath starts

The NEW Testamnent scriptures build on these scriptures. In the NEW Testament Jesus and the scriptures teach us that.........

1. So Jesus taught that it is lawful to do GOOD on the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56)
and we are not to be budened by man made teaching around God's Sabbath because the Sabbath was made for mankind to be a delight not a buden.

2. Jesus taught that God's Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath; rebuking the tradtions of the Jew in regards to their interpretation around Sabbath keeping? (Mark 2:27-28; Matthew 12:8)

3. Jesus taught that he was the maker and creator of the Sabbath and the God of creation (Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1-3; 14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-17; Mark 2:27)

4. Paul taught that we cannot enter into God's Sabbath rest if we do not BELIEVE and FOLLOW the Word of God (Hebrews 3 and 4)

5. Jesus is our example who kept the Sabbath as well as all those who followed him (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matt 16:24; Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10)

6. God's Sabbath is the Lord's Day and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW him who calls us (Matthew 12:8).

Hope this helps....

.................

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Psalms 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. So God's word has existed from the beginning, How about the one in Genesis 2:3?

Abraham was not a Israelite nor a Jew, Your right and I'm glad you brought this out because it disproves the idea that the Sabbath was only for Jews Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath:, for mankind as a whole, not for God's sake or anything, but so that we could come into connection with God, and even through the Ten Commandments on stone came after Abraham and Jacob and Joesph it existed way before, God set it up in Eden, Genesis 2: 1Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
God does not change, so his law wouldn't either, It's perfect Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
we change he does not, so his law must not have just spawned out of no where, that would mean the law isn't perfect, It only existed for us, For something to be perfect it had to exist forever, and be apart of his character.

Genesis 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.So a law must have existed before Moses, First off, If the law didn't exist, then how did Cain and Abel know that murder was sin? 1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

How did Joseph know that committing adultery and fornication was wrong?

Genesis 39:9 7And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; 9There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

How did Jacob know that Idols were a wrong?

Genesis 35:2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
Genesis 35:4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

God's law is his character, it never changes.

Abraham was brought up knowing God, he's family also worship idols, But he kept the Sabbath aswell, because Abraham kept the law as said earlier, and so did all his descendants, Why does the Law have to be changed because we wanted to worship on Sunday? we're gonna try to change God? Even if the Sabbath didn't exist before Moeses, does that give us the right to not follow it when he actual does give it to us? because we don't think it's important?, God seems to care, He starts off with the commandment by saying Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. So if Abraham didn't follow the Sabbath that's on him, apparently God forgot to remember, But once he gave it to us all, don't you think we should follow his law? If he told us it didn't matter anymore fine, God's a liar he does change, But he didn't, He just gave us a knew statute and judgment, To love him John 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
john 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Notice God never took away anything he gave, He just expanded it, Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. He never took away the slaying of lambs, he fulfilled the purpose of the lamb John 1:29, he never took away the laws he lived them in daily life Mark 12:31, he never got rid of Priest, He never took away the Kings of Judah and the priest Hebrews 4:14-16, He became one, Jesus never changed anything, He only let it meet his fulfillment,

The Sabbath already met it's fulfillment aswell, when God said it was Good in the garden and he hollowed it, Please listen, God's trying to wake us up, Stop breaking one law and keeping all the others, if you think the Sabbath is not important then break all of them and stop straddling the fence. James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

so brother, what kind of sabbath law you practice now, what is new covenant sabbath law look like. Show me a verse or verses that regulate new covenant sabbath law

can you cook oN sabbath? How about Eat in the restourant oN sabbath? Is that mean let other cook in sabbath

I know an SDA members have franchce restourant, I use to work for his mom, they us me to drive them to church oN sabbath.

is that consider sin, to us other work oN sabbath?
You are trying to make 'Sabbath-keepers responsible' for what NON sabbath keepers DO !

Are we not EACH to 'work out our OWN salvation'....? if people CHOOSE to work on Sabbath they are responsible for their own action and they will work WHETHER or NOT we use their services....so no, we are not making them work by using them.
You also forget that we can do many good works on the Sabbath NOW....so don't compare 'Sabbath-observance today with that in the OT....you make a big mistake and consequently a big MISjudgement !!!

gentiles can't forget what they were never given.
If they were not given they are not HIS. For GOD has said, For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

so you not cook in sabbath, why, what is the verse that say not to cook in sabbath?
Exodus 16
22,
And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
23, And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
24, And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.
25, And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
26, Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
27, And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.

Hope this helps....

.................

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

in Deuteronomy 5, Moses goes on to explain that the Sabbath was a reminder that God delivered them from slavery in Egypt.

so, have you ever been a slave in Egypt? did Moses add to Scripture? is Deuteronomy 5 valid Scripture ? do you trust Moses ?

That is the Catholic doctrine. But I'm not a Catholic so I don't follow these traditions.

If I walk into a store and there is a sign on the door, "shoplifters will be prosecuted". Is that Law for me? Well, if I'm a shoplifter it is. But if I am not a shoplifter, then I am not "under this Law" am I. As long as I continue not to steal from this place, this Law is not for me.

The Law kills me and the only place I can be drawn out from under this death is through Jesus. Once Jesus forgives me the penalty of my transgressions, I am no longer under them.

This does not, as you preach, give me the freedom to shoplift. If I shoplift, I am again brought back under the Law and must either pay the penalty or be forgiven again.

Rom. 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, (Shoplift) because we are not under the law, (in jail) but under grace?(forgiven) God forbid.

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, (Not free from the sign, but free from the penalty) ye became the servants of righteousness.

"Go and Shoplift no more"
No, you are completely wrong.

Once you come to Christ you are no longer under law. If you start working at the law in your own understanding then you have fallen from Grace, if you ever were under grace to begin with.

A person is much more likely to not "shoplift" if they are under grace and understand what Christ does for them.

But if they are relying on their own understanding and their own strength then they are falling short in all their efforts.

Romans 9:31-32
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

What exactly do you think you need to be obedient to in order to be righteous? Regarding Romans 6:14-18...

It's certainly not obedience to any law that is going to make you that way. So then what else could it possibly be??

What if Egypt is symbolic of sin, a shadow of something God is teaching those who "seek Him". What if these scriptures that you mock and reject are there for our admonition?

1 Cor. 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

2 Tim. 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Just because you choose to mock and reject much of the examples that Jesus had written for our admonition doesn't mean they are void.

Rom. 3:3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Just because your religious traditions transgress God's Commandments, doesn't make the Word's of God vain.
