COLOSSIANS 2:14-17 PART 1/2 THE REAL TRUTH

The above scripture is used by the “many” to distance themselves from Gods weekly Sabbath day of the 4th commandment. This is for those that may be interested in learning the real meaning of the scriptures and not that of those leading others to break the commandments of God to follow the traditions and teachings of man over the Word of God. So, what is Col. 2{16} really talking about.?

Let's use the scriptures interpret scripture.............................

COL. 2 [16]
Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, or in DRINK, or in respect of an HOLYDAY, or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAY(S) <plural>:

EZEKIEL 45 [17] And it shall be the prince's part to give BURNT OFFERINGS, and MEAT OFFERINGS, and DRINK OFFERINGS, in the FEASTS, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the SABBATH(S), in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

Here’s a scripture, same exact order as Col 2{16}, meat, drink, holy days (feast days), new moons, Sabbath(s). No doubt what so ever these 2 scriptures are speaking of the same thing. See how that on those days there was a sin offering made. The blood of Christ is now that offering. Col.2 and Ezekiel 45 are simply speaking of the meat and drink offerings which were written in the Mosaic law contained within the ordinances which were to take place on Gods annual festivals, new moons and His annual ceremonial Sabbath days and Holy convocations (Leviticus 23).

HEBREWS 13 [9] Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be ESTABLISHED WITH GRACE; NOT WITH MEATS, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. [10] We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. [11] For THE BODIES OF THOSE BEASTS, WHOSE BLOOD is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. [12] WHEREFORE JESUS ALSO, THAT HE MIGHT SANCTIFY THE PEOPLE WITH HIS OWN BLOOD, suffered without the gate.

But now we are no longer under the Mosaic laws concerning the meat and drink offerings of Gods holy days, new moons and annual festival sabbaths and holy convocations. Jesus fulfilled the law. We are now under grace.

JOHN 6 [53] Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. [54] Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. [55] For MY FLESH IS MEAT INDEED, and MY BLOOD IS DRINK INDEED.

When we let scripture interpret scripture it’s very clear what Col.2 is speaking about. The meat and drink offerings of those days are no longer to be kept and no one is to judge you for not keeping them because they were shadows pointing to Jesus.

NUMBERS 28 [9] And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a MEAT OFFERING, mingled with oil, and the DRINK OFFERING thereof: [10] This is the burnt offering of EVERY SABBATH, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

There’s the meat and drink offerings for the monthly and annual festival sabbath days that Col.2 [16] was speaking of. This was not a weekly requirement for the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] commandment of God’s Law (Exodus 20:8-11)

EZEKIEL 46 [6] And in the day of the NEW MOON it shall be a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish. [7] And he shall prepare a MEAT OFFERING, an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram, and for the lambs according as his hand shall attain unto, and an hin of oil to an ephah.

The meat offering for the new moon that was spoken of in Col.2 [16].

LEVITICUS 23 [4] These are THE FEASTS OF THE LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. [5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is THE LORD'S PASSOVER. [6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread…… [13] And the MEAT OFFERING thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the DRINK OFFERING thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.

In all the feast days (holy days) meat and drink offerings were written into the laws of commandments contained in the ordinances. The above scripture points out the holy day of Passover when Jesus was crucified.

HEBREWS 9 [1] Then verily THE FIRST COVENANT HAD ALSO ORDINANCES of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.... [9] WHICH WAS A FIGURE for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[10] WHICH STOOD ONLY IN MEATS AND DRINKS, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.[12] NEITHER BY THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES, BUT BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Once again, the 1st covenant had ordinances which stood only in meat and drinks which were a figure! A shadow!

EPH.2 [15] HAVING ABOLISHED in his flesh the enmity, even the LAW OF COMMANDMENTS CONTAINED IN ORDINANCES; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;[16] And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

COL. 2 [13] And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; [14] BLOTTING OUT THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

ISAIAH 24 [5] The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, CHANGED THE ORDINANCE, broken the everlasting covenant.[6] Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

But in this “Day of the Lord” scripture it seems the many will go on believing what they’ve been taught by their sunday mourning pulpiteers. They will continue to believe the commandments mentioned in Eph.2 and Col. 2 are the 10 commandments and not the law of commandments contained in the ordinances

The “many” claim that the sabbath was the shadow of Christ. But what do the scriptures say

COL.2 [14] BLOTTING OUT THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;[15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.[16] Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, or in DRINK, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:[17] WHICH ARE A SHADOW OF THINGS TO COME; but the body is of Christ.

To be continued...................

COLOSSIANS 2:14-17 PART 2/2 THE REAL TRUTH

COL. 2:14 and EPH 2. 15
What is the meaning of the handwriting of “ORDINANCES” that was blotted out and nailed to the cross?

GREEK meaning; blotting out (G1813; ἐξαλείφω; exaleiphō; ex-al-i'-fo; means to obliterate; erase; wipe away) the handwriting of ordinances which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way nailing it to the cross. The Greek words used here is handwriting G5498 χειρόγραφον; cheirographon; which means; hand written legal document which is combined with ordinance G1378 δόγμα dogma dog'-mah From the base of G1380; which means; civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical law: - decree; The Greek meaning of handwriting of ordinances in V14 is a hand written legal document or book of civil, ceremonial and ecclesiastical laws. These are the laws referred to in verse 14 that have been erased and are nailed to the cross.

The handwriting of ORDINANCES {Mosaic laws for meat and drink offerings and annual festivals that have their fulfilment in Jesus} has been blotted out. They were the shadows. They were all prophetic in nature, teaching the plan of salvation which pointing to Jesus as the true lamb of God and our great high priest and His Work on our behalf in the Heavenly Sanctuary. (Leviticus 1; 3-12; 14-17; 22-23; Number 6-8; 15; 28-29; Deut 12; 33; Ex 25:8; John 1:29; 36; Rev 5:6; 1Cor 5:6-7; Heb 8:2-13; 9:1-28)

The first covenant had ORDINANCES which stood ONLY in meat and drink offerings which were a figure. A shadow

EZEKIEL 46 [14] And thou shalt prepare a meat offering for it every morning, the sixth part of an ephah, and the third part of an hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a MEAT OFFERING continually by a perpetual ORDINANCE unto the LORD.

Meat offering by ordinance. There ya go. Hebrews 9 was ofcourse correct

HEBREWS 10 [1] For THE LAW HAVING A SHADOW of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with THOSE SACRIFICES WHICH THEY OFFERED YEAR BY YEAR continually make the comers thereunto perfect.[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.[3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.[4] For IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND OF GOATS SHOULD TAKE AWAY SINS.

Hebrews 10 says it all. The shadow of the law was the offerings (the meat and drink offerings). Hebrews 10{1} says that plain and clear. The Word does not say the Sabbath was the shadow of Christ which really makes no sense at all

NUMBERS 19 [2] This is the ORDINANCE OF THE LAW which the Lord hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

Before Christ the red heifers lived their lives in fear and trembling, thinking they might be next offering. No worries no more.

JOHN 6 [55] For my flesh is MEAT indeed, and my blood is DRINK indeed.

We are no longer under the law concerning the meat and drink offerings {the shadow}. Jesus FULFILLED that portion of the law. Its all grace now! Jesus Himself said “For my flesh is MEAT indeed, and my blood is DRINK indeed”.

COL. 2 [16] Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, or in DRINK, or in respect of an HOLYDAY, or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAYS:

Col.2 {16} is used by all Sunday morning denominations so as to rid themselves of Gods Sabbath day. It’s also used to go against Gods laws concerning eating unclean things such as the portly porker. Can their doctrines be found in the scriptures by looking at the followers of the RISEN Christ?

ACTS 17 [2] AND PAUL, AS HIS MANNER WAS, went in unto them, and three SABBATH DAYS reasoned with them out of the scriptures,[3] Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

Paul as his manner was... still keeping the Sabbath…………………..

ACTS 10 [11] And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: [12] Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. [13] And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. [14] BUT PETER SAID, NOT SO, LORD; FOR I HAVE NEVER EATEN ANY THING THAT IS COMMON OR UNCLEAN.

Peter refused to eat the unclean thing even after the risen Christ………………..

ACTS 10 [28] And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but GOD HATH SHEWED ME THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY MAN COMMON OR UNCLEAN.

Verse 28 explains the great sheet. No man is now unclean…………………………….

JOEL 1 [13] Gird yourselves, and lament, YE PRIESTS: howl, YE MINISTERS of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for THE MEAT OFFERING AND THE DRINK OFFERING IS WITHHOLDEN FROM THE HOUSE OF YOUR GOD. [14] Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord, [15] Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

Doesn’t look good for some, come the Day of the Lord.

NUMBERS 18 [8] And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, BY AN ORDINANCE for ever.[9] This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: EVERY OBLATION of theirs, EVERY MEAT OFFERING of theirs, and EVERY SIN OFFERING of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.

Above scripture confirms that the offerings are also called oblations

ISAIAH 1 [10] Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.[11] To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I AM FULL OF THE BURNT OFFERINGS of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.[12] When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?[13] BRING NO MORE VAIN OBLATIONS; incense is an abomination unto me; THE NEW MOONS AND SABBATHS, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.[14] Your new moons and your APPOINTED FEASTS my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

Bring no more vain oblations in the new moons and the monthly and annual ceremonial Sabbath feast days. WHY? Because Jesus nailed these offerings (oblations) to the cross. The 10 commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) were never nailed to the cross only our sins were through Jesus and the ceremonial laws of Moses that were used for the forgiveness of sins along with the feast days that pointed to the life, death, resurrection and ministration of Jesus as the lamb of God and our great High Priest in the Heavenly Sanctuary.

HEBREWS 10 [7] Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. [8] Above when he said, SACRIFICE AND OFFERING AND BURNT OFFERINGS AND OFFERING FOR SIN THOU WOULDEST NOT, NEITHER HADST PLEASURE THEREIN; WHICH ARE OFFERED BY THE LAW; [9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. HE TAKETH AWAY THE FIRST, WHICH HE MAY ESTABLISH THE SECOND. [10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. [11] And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: [12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Hebrews 10 explains exactly what Isaiah 1 was speaking about. He takes away the 1st covenant {the meat and drink offerings} and established the 2nd covenant {the body of Christ}

The new covenant is all about the blood of Christ. Not changing the law....but fulfilling the law

ZECH.9 [9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, THY KING COMETH UNTO THEE: HE IS JUST, AND HAVING SALVATION; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.[10] And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from river even to the ends of the earth.[11] As for thee also, BY THE BLOOD OF THY COVENANT I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water

Verse 9 definitely prophecies of the coming Jesus. Verse 11, Jesus is called the blood of thy covenant

HEBREWS 12 [23] To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,[24] And to Jesus THE MEDIATOR OF THE NEW COVENANT, AND TO THE BLOOD of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

New covenant...blood

LUKE 22 [19] And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [20] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, THIS CUP IS THE NEW TESTAMENT IN MY BLOOD, which is shed for you.

New testament...blood

HEBRE WS 9 [1] Then verily THE FIRST COVENANT HAD ALSO ORDINANCES of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

Old covenant...blood of goats.....The meat and drink offerings. There is that word “ordinance” (dogma) being used again which means; civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical Mosaic laws: that were written in the book (Ephesians 2:15 and Colossians 2:14)

HEBREWS [4] FOR IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND OF GOATS SHOULD TAKE AWAY SINS.[5] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:[6] In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.[7] Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.[8] Above when he said, sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;[9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. HE TAKETH AWAY THE FIRST THAT HE MAY ESTABLISH THE SECOND.

He taketh away the first {covenant}, that he may establish the second.

JOHN 6 [53] [54] Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. [55] For MY FLESH IS MEAT INDEED, and MY BLOOD IS DRINK INDEED.

And there’s the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP]……………….

MATTHEW 5 [17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. [18] For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Jesus did not come to change or destroy the God's Law (10 commandments). The Sabbath is still to be kept. He came to fulfill what was written of Him in the books of the law.

From the council of Jerusalem Acts 15

“The brothers, both the apostles and the elders, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greetings.24 Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions,25 it has seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will tell you the same things by word of mouth.28 For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements:29 that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.”

This is all that is required of Gentile Christians to be saved, verse 29, there is no mention of keeping the Sabbath. This letter was written because of people trying to make Gentile Christians keep parts of the Law, when Christians are not required to do so. So as you said, I will listen to God and not man because it seemed good to the Holy Spirit to give these guidelines.

Stealing is not metioned? Lying is not mentioned? Murder is not mentioned? and do people abstainf from eating food with blood in it? or is that ignored also?

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]A misunderstood passage, in which different texts have different readings, verses can not be added to the text any number of years after it was written and be true and authentic. In the Acts 15 age and culture one had to meet a set of requirements to even walk into a place of worship, this “council” was set to determine who should be let in or what they expected of their new converts. This was not an exhaustive guide or be all end all instructions, acquiring more knowledge of the Word was addressed also. The words of the Messiah are our guide, and He made very clear what was and what was not valid. Again this was a basic set of requirements to enter a place of worship, as once they entered they would learn the ways of YHWH because as verses 21 states; “Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath.”[/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Acts 15:19-21,29 “19 Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the nations who are turning to Elohim, 20, but that we write to them to abstain from the defilements of idols, and from whoring, and from what is strangled, and from blood. 21, For from ancient generations Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath. 29, that you abstain from what is offered to idols, and blood, and what is strangled, and whoring. A misunderstood passage, in which different texts have different readings, verses can not be added to the text any number of years after it was written and be true and authentic. Again this was a basic set of requirements to enter a place of worship, as once they entered they would learn the ways of YHWH because as verses 21 states; “Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath.”

Acts 15:19-21,29 “19 Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the nations who are turning to Elohim, 20, but that we write to them to abstain from the defilements of idols, and from whoring, and from what is strangled, and from blood. 21, For from ancient generations Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath. 29, that you abstain from what is offered to idols, and blood, and what is strangled, and whoring. If you keep yourselves from these, you shall do well. Be strong!”

And why would they be? They are part of the teaching of Christ in love your neighbor as yourself, just like the Sabbath is covered by love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.

I am sorry I do not see any requirements of age or cultural requirement for entering a place of worship in Acts 15.

Acts 15:5 “But some believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees rose up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses.”

Peter's response Acts 15:7-11 “And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us,9 and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith.10 Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?11 But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.”

Notice they are to hear the word of the Gospel, which the two great commandments are taught in and we/they are to believe or follow the teaching of the Gospel. Their hearts were cleansed by thier faith in the Gospel. So why are people testing God by placing a yoke of works on people, that neither the disciples nor the fathers could keep. We are saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, not any observance of any requirement of the Law, this is why the letter was written.

There is no mention of requirement of age or culture to enter any place of worship. Can you please provide the Scripture in the context of Acts 15 that show that they are talking about age and cultural requirements to enter a place of worship or how Acts 15 has anything to do with requirements of entering a place of worship?

OK so there are a short list of things in Acts 15, you do understand nobody had Mat, Mark, Luke, John and Paul's, Peter's, James, letters and Revelation were not Scripture at that time nor were they commonly circulated. It is clear that they are talknig about Gentile converts new to the faith...

also

"15:28, "For it seemed good to the Set-apart Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessities:"

So either thats it or there is more. If there is more then who decides what more there is? not you or me, but Yah.

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Mat 22:37-40, "Yahshua said to him: You must love YHWH your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. (Deut 6:5) This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Lev 19:18) On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

We cant break do not steal and be loving our neighbor. In the same manner tell me what Law can be broken and dstill be keeping the great 2?

and what does this verse mean:

21 states; “Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath.”

Hi Johnny,

Do you know the difference between the Mosaic law and God's Law? If you read the context of Act's 15 it is talking about the ceremonial laws of Moses that were pointing to Jesus. Certain of the Jewish converts were coming to the gentile converts and saying that they must be circumcised in order to be saved........

Acts 15

v1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

v2 This resulted in Paul and Barnabas have a disagreement with the Jewish converts....

v3-4 They then went to Jerusalem to meet with the other disciples and Apostles.....

v5 Then the Jewish converts (Pharisees) told Paul and Barnabas that it was needful to circumcise them (gentile believers), and to command them to keep the law of Moses (Mosaic ceremonial laws are being discussed here v1-5).

v6-9 Peter gets up telling everyone that the Gospel to the gentiles should be heard by him and continues that there is no difference between them and the Jews putting no difference between them purifying their hearts by faith....

v9-10 Peter continues that there should not be this burden on them for it is by God's grace they are all saved

v12-18 Then everyone was quite and let Paul and Barnabas speak and they told them about all the miracles that God wrought through them. Then James answered them saying that God chose himself a people from the gentiles and pointed all to the Word of God where it was written by the prophets

v19 James concludes not to trouble the gentiles in relation to the Mosaic law of circumcision (context)

v20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollution of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood (this was the main gentile problem). Why did they just say this.........................?

v21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. (The scriptures were being shared in the law of Moses every Sabbath.

v22-25 This resulted in a letter saying For as much as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

What is being referred to here is clearly the ceremonial Mosaic laws that were nailed to the cross dealing with circumcision which is the context of the chapter...... If you had time to read the OP this is what is being discussed in the first two posts. It is not saying the gentiles were free to disobey God's 10 commandments.

Hope this is helpful.

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

I have to admit, It does makes me smile everytime I read Lovegodforever's statement that God's Law and the Mosaic law are at enmity with each other... If if wasn't a serious consideration I would burst out laughing at the silliness of it.

The Mosaic law is God's! However, as we all can see that does not fit with a sabbatarian legalist theology.

Why were 10 Commandments written separately in stone by GOD?

Thank you for bringing that up loveme1, It just goes to show that Moses law is Gods law indeed. Thank you for reminding us as against Lovegodforever.

You had posted "This is all that is required of Gentile Christians to be saved, verse 29,..."

"...............If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.”

It did not say to the Gentiles that if they do these things, they will be saved. It says they will do well.

Stealing is not metioned? Lying is not mentioned? Murder is not mentioned? and do people abstainf from eating food with blood in it? or is that ignored also?

I believe the apostles agreed to mention those things that were pertinent for the Gentile believers' walk with Him as they were current practices as known among the Gentiles at that time.

And since we do not see in other religions of the world to keep the sabbath as the Jews had done, it was not mentioned because it is of the Old Covenant and not of the New Covenant.

Jesus said in Matthew 12:1-7 as quoted below from Bible Gateway in the KJV that because He is with His disciples, this was why they were guiltless just as the O.T. saints were for profaning the sabbath but were blameless because they were in the Temple where God had dwelt.

Matthew 12:1
At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.[SUP] 2 [/SUP]But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.[SUP] 3 [/SUP]But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
[SUP]4 [/SUP]How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? 5Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

Jesus gave two examples from the scripture in how saints in the O.T. had profaned the sabbath but they were not guilt because they were in the Temple where God had dwelt, and so that was why His disciples were guiltless because they were in His Presence.

Every body of the believer has been bought with a price now and that means our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit where Jesus Christ is in us and is with us always that no matter if we profaned the sabbath willingly, we are blameless.

If you consider how He presents us
holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: thenHe is helping you to see why He is Lord of the sabbath in the New Covenant because we are not justified by keeping the sabbath day holy.
Colossians 1:
[SUP]20 [/SUP]And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. [SUP]21 [/SUP]And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled [SUP]22 [/SUP]In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: [SUP]23 [/SUP]If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; [SUP]6 [/SUP]But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. 7But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

That is why the just shall live by faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of the sabbath, not by sight by keeping the sabbath day holy.

I agree with

but to say

And since we do not see in other religions of the world to keep the sabbath as the Jews had done.
It does not matter what other religions do. The Sabbath was for Hebrew/Jew and Gentile alike from the beginning;

Isaiah 56:1-7, “Thus said יהוה, “Guard right-ruling, and do righteousness, for near is My deliverance to come, and My righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who becomes strong in it, guarding the Sabbath lest he profane it, and guarding his hand from doing any evil. And let not the son of the gentile who has joined himself to יהוה speak, saying, ‘יהוה has certainly separated me from His people,’ nor let the eunuch say, ‘Look I am a dry tree.’ For thus said יהוה, “To the eunuchs who guard My Sabbaths, and have chosen what pleases Me, and are holding onto My covenant: to them I shall give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters – I give them an everlasting name that is not cut off. Also the sons of the gentile who join themselves to יהוה, to serve Him, and to love the Name of יהוה, to be His servants, all who guard the Sabbath, and not profane it, and are holding onto My covenant, them I shall bring to My set-apart mountain, and let them rejoice in My house of prayer. Their ascending offerings and their sacrifices are accepted on My altar, for My house is called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”

it was not mentioned because it is of the Old Covenant and not of the New Covenant.
I beleive this is assumption;

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Psalm 89:26-37, "He will call out to Me; ‘You are my Father, O YHWH! You are the Rock of my salvation!’ And I will make Him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for Him forever and My covenant will stand fast with Him. And I will establish His Seed forever, and His throne will be as the days of heaven. Should His children forsake My Law, and refuse to walk in My judgments; Should they profane My statutes, and fail to keep My commandments; Then I will punish their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with lashes from the whip. Nevertheless, My lovingkindness I will not utterly withdraw from Him, nor will I ever betray My faithfulness. My covenant I will not break, nor will I change what has gone out of My lips. Once for all, I have vowed by My holiness, I cannot lie, and I say to David; His Seed will endure forever, and his throne will endure before Me like the sun. His throne will be established forever like the moon: the faithful witness in the sky."[/FONT]

Mat 5:18, "I say to you; Unless heaven and earth passes away, one yodh; the smallest of the letters will in no way pass from the Law, until all things are perfected."

Revelation 21:1, "I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away."

This is an end time prophecy;

At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.[SUP] 2 [/SUP]But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.[SUP] 3 [/SUP]But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
[SUP]4 [/SUP]How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? 5Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

Jesus gave two examples from the scripture in how saints in the O.T. had profaned the sabbath but they were not guilt because they were in the Temple where God had dwelt, and so that was why His disciples were guiltless because they were in His Presence.

They were blameless because they were doing the work and will of YHWH, that is the purpose of the Sabbath, the pharisees made it about sitting in your house twittling your thumbs...

COuld we say the same about any other COmmandment orare you misusing that verse?

could we say

That is why the just shall live by faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of the sabbath, not by sight by keeping the sabbath day holy (but replace
by keeping the sabbath day holy with not by not stealing?.
I am condemming no one for disregarding the 7th daySabbath, just showing that it is still valid and that it's odd that all the other Commandmentsare usulaly considered OK, but this one... ohh not this one!

However the saints havef aith in Yahshua and keep the Commandments;

Ezekiel 20:12, "Moreover, I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a *sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am YHWH Who sanctifies them."

*Sign is Word #H226, Hebrew Dictionary, Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, meaning mark, token, sign, consent, flag, evidence of consent.

Mat 15:24, “And He answering, said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’yl.”

Jeremiah 31:33, "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Yisra’yl: After those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law (Torah/Instructions) in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and I will be their Strength, and they will be My people."

Romans 9:6-8, "However, it is not as though YHWH's plan had failed. For it is not everyone who is a descendant of Yisra’yl who belongs to Yisra’yl. Nor, just because they are his descendants, are they all Abraham's children; but: In Isaac will your seed be called. That is, it is not those who are the children of the flesh who are YHWH's children; but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's seed."

Psalm 105:6-9, "O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Yaaqob, His chosen ones! He is YHWH our Father! His judgments are in all the earth. He has remembered His covenant forever, the Law He commanded for a thousand generations; Which He made; ratified, established, with Abraham, and vowed by His oath to Isaac. He confirmed it; let it stand, to Yaaqob for a Law, and to Israyl for an everlasting covenant."

Galatians 3:27-29, “For as many of you as were immersed into Messiah have put on Messiah. There is not Yehuḏi nor Greek, there is not slave nor free, there is not male and female, for you are all one in Messiah יהושע. And if you are of Messiah, then you are seed of Aḇraham, and heirs according to promise.”

Psalm 89:26-37, "He will call out to Me; ‘You are my Father, O YHWH! You are the Rock of my salvation!’ And I will make Him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for Him forever and My covenant will stand fast withHim. And I will establish His Seed forever, and His throne will be as the days of heaven. His throne will be established forever like the moon: the faithful witness in the sky."

Thank you for bringing that up loveme1, It just goes to show that Moses law is Gods law indeed. Thank you for reminding us as against Lovegodforever.

Duet 4:13; 6:1.

I will show you something and then consider what it means:

John 7

19Did not Moses give you the law, and yetnone of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? 20The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? 21Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. 22Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. 23If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? 24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Thanks for sharing Loveme1,

Yes, excellent teaching from Jesus regarding teaching authority (All of ch7). And yes circumcision was a 'sign' of the covenant people those who belong to God. This carried on through to Christ. I am fully aware of the outworking of the Abrahamic covenant and the 'building upon' of the Mosaic covenant'.

Who commanded circumcision..it wasn't man it was God. Who commanded and gave the laws to moses to give to the people...was it Moses? It was God. Moses mediated..as a foreshadow to Christ.

But lets go back. Mosaic law is God's law. would you not agree?

God's moral law stands for all time for all people..it's written in the hearts of men.. and Christians in Christ are free from the bondage of sin to obey them..not from under the school master of the Mosaic law. But from Love only found in Christ.

Love God and love neighbour as oneself..can only be done because Christ faithfully obeyed the demands and took upon himself the curse.. Why would you want to go back under the bonds and curses of the written law?

To have some notion that the Mosaic law is not the law of God is just plain nonsense. God gave it t Moses!

what a trainwreck that website is loveGodforever.
what does sabbath have to do with buying and selling? nothing. take it down so no new christian stumbles on it. many christians havent read all of the bible yet so they can be fooled by this kind of shallow teaching.

the early christians gathered on first day of the week, did they have mark of the beast too?? wake up

u gotta rightly divide the word of truth or u might as well just start building an ark now
