Oh? I think you've hit on something there, "Un" rolleyes. But, rather then 1 "door", left open, I think, it's probably more then 1 door left open. Mixed with several other doors not FULLY closed!

we have an enemy and he has authority over those who follow after him......his m.o. will always be to move from the word into a different path. spiritual wickedness, motivates sinful actions, spirit interacts with the flesh whether the Holy spirit which leads to righteousness and salvation, or evil spirit that leads to sin, and an eternal place with evil. we all follow a spirit whether good or bad. and we are indeed in a war for our souls and the souls of those who wil hear the truth

this is what Jesus came to save us from, the truth of God divides people some will hear and believe, others will contend and disbelieve, even members of a household are often divided by the truth of God. those who will not be as those described here in romans 1, will be saved. we cant follow after sin and belong to Christ, this fact divides people on earth because all people arent sons of God, they will not accept Gods Judgements of right and wrong, good and evil.

see matthew 10 and the parable of the wheat and tares, and its explaination satan has children in the earth also, those he planted those will be divided against the sons of God sown By Jesus Christ. God is behind all things His will was to turn man over to depravity because man would not hearken to His word. even things that seem aweful to us now, proceed forth from Gods Word and in the end we will Know fully and what seems terrible now, will have a divine purpose

It's wearying, isn't it? A wearying down to...even inside your bones.
Yesterday I saw two stories that dragged me under. They were so horrible that I just sat and cried and kept asking God why, to what purpose?

One was of a six year old whose parents starved him to death over the course of 2 years. He died at under 16 lbs. So what is the purpose of a small child suffering like that for SIX YEARS?

The other was of villagers somewhere setting a mother elephant and her baby on fire. They had a picture of these poor beasts running in terror, their tails and feet on fire.

Is the answer for my emotional health to just not read these stories? To just prevent myself from seeing these things that happen so I can be happier? Maybe the answer is to not avoid reading them and to let the tears and depression over it come so the outcry will become so great that He will come down to see and will end it...maybe that is what the verse about how we should be hastening His coming is about...

Have mens hearts grown colder or have they always been so awful? A man in the bible said to two of his sons that they lamed oxen in their cruelty and self will. Two women ate the baby of one of them. They tortured Jesus horribly.

So I don't know if its become so much worse or if I just have access to the stories all over the world. It's just so wearying and has the ability to steal all my joy. It just undoes me and puts me in a state of weeping where I can't even catch my breath sometimes. In fact, the only way it seems I can maintain my sanity when I read such awful things is by shutting my emotions down and finding a distraction that is mind numbing.
