My flesh hates suffering, but my soul has a different view of it. Difficulties can make us get closer to God and this is the greatest of all blessings. Do you have any story of blessing in disguise to share with us?

Let me tell you the story of Marcos Sanches, a homeless drug addict who lost both legs in a train accident at age 11. That was the beginning a new life for him. Soon after the accident he started learning wheelchair basketball and later on became a Christian.

Marcos Sanches: "Loosing my legs was the best thing that ever happened to me".

Today Marcos is married to a nice woman who has only one leg, they have kids, he has a successful material life, is a member of the Brazilian Wheelchair Basketball National Team, and is now headed for heaven (he has a great faith in God).

It was a great honor for me to shake hands with this great guy yesterday, and another great honor is that my son, who has spina bifida, plays in Marcos' local team.

I would appreciate if you folks could tell us more stories of blessings in disguise or make comments about this subject.

When I was a child, my father worked in the city.

One of the people in the office was going to fly to a very important meeting.

On the way to the airport, he got a flat tire.

He was very angry that he had missed the plane,

When he got to a phone and called the office to tell them he wasn't going to make it to the meeting,

he was told that the plane had crashed and everyone was killed and they had thought he had died also.

He was so mad that he got the flat tire, but in the end, it saved his life.

True story.

====

I have learned, that when things happen, it's not good to get angry and upset.

These things that happen, that we have no control over, sometimes seem bad and are.

But, we must leave room for the hand of God in our thinking.

We must have faith that God is in control, that He is with us.

My struggle with mouth cancer this year strengthened endurance in me. It blessed me by Christ revealing Himself in so many miraculous ways that I would not have seen without this trial.

I am a walking miracle, and others see the hand of God causing this - and are led to praise Him even more. He is blessed because of my trial.

I was once unjustly fired from a job to make room for someone with more longevity with the company. It was a job that I actually did care for that much and had to drive almost an hour to get to in horrible traffic on an interrstate. But, money being ever in demand, I needed that job. I prayed daily for 3 months for God to help me. I ended up getting a much better job, with a fantastic Christian boss who prayed for me, cared about my walk with the Lord as a newish believer and that was less than a mile from my home. God is amazing!!

Wonderful post. Man makes his plans but it is God who guides his steps, a verse says.

Every circumstance I complain about is a faith too little to believe He is guiding my steps.

broken-neck, etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,He has shown the both of us just
how much He loves us and of course, has shown us how much we could
begin to Love Him, more and more, each and every day for the ways and means

BROKEN NECK???? Please explain.
===============================

Ernest,

I had a really terrible accident in the 70's, that resulted in me having a 'broken-neck',
plus multiple outer and inner, what most would consider 'fatal' injuries,..

obviously Jesus had other plans for me and hub, other than death...hub and I are doing our best
despite the progression of our injuries...we both have had profound obstacles to
'over-come', but only by the Grace of God has He kept us here!...

thank you for caring enough to ask!
:):)

Twelve years ago I was laid off together with many other employees and after a year or so the only opportunity I had was in another city and for a very low salary (1/3 of the previous one). The new job was going to be a drastic comedown, but I was happy!

I did well in all the tests and was about to be hired when an old enemy got in the way. He hated me just for the sake of it and his influence among the directors kept me from being hired. I was devastated.

I went back to my city and a week later the telephone rang: a temp job opportunity in Turkey. Glory to God! I spent 3 months in that country and made a lot of money. Then I returned to Brazil and a couple of months later got rehired by my previous employer.

My enemy wished to see me lying in the gutter face down, but his evil deed turned out to be a blessing in my life.

I was a good telemarketer back in the olden days before The Do Not Call directory was created (and not enforced.), and the days when we could say okay and move on, if the person we were calling wasn't interested. One of my jobs was to call business owners to see if they would buy any of our office supplies.

The call center had a sales contest that month. I don't even remember what the winner was supposed to get, but I was working my leads, and keeping track of all the ones who were interested, but call back later in the month. Not many sales during the month, but I knew how long it would take me to accept an order from a customer, and had it worked out that the last three days of that month was when I'd get most of the orders. And on the morning on the first of those last-three-days, (also payday), my boss fired me.

The truth was they had found a hotshot salesperson, and I was the newest hiree, so of course fire me to put him in place. But not how my boss put it. According to her, I was a disgrace to all telemarketers in the country. I took it as the brave and unemotional person that I am.

I burst into tears, and went immediately to the woman who handed out the paycheck. Oh, she was also the mother of the two brothers who ran the company. Oh, and my boss's boss was the younger of the two brothers and apparently the disgrace to his family, because he did things like this. So, by the time I left that office with my paycheck, the mother and oldest son were both apologizing profusely to me and promising me a good word if I ever needed a reference.

I may be emotional, but I'm not stupid. Who uses a place where they're fired as a reference? But, because they felt bad, they called it "laid off," so they were willing to put whatever money they had to toward my unemployment check for the next six months.

Seven months later, hubby and I moved across the river into Philly, and I was still looking for a new job. Desperate, I put in an ad into a weekly local paper that only circulated in South Philly telling of my skill set and asking for work. A man in North Philly called and asked me to come for an interview to be a bookkeeper for two factories working in one building.

I didn't know bookkeeping any more than I know how to do brain surgery. But he knew that. I handed him my resume during the interview and was hired the next day. The salesman (only one) was also good friends with older brother from the office supplies place. Had I not cried when picking up my paycheck, older brother wouldn't have remembered me, but he also liked the way I handled being fired. (I never bad-mouthed anyone over being fired. I was just crying because... well, I got fired.)

New job paid twice as much as old job, and it became home for 9 years. I also learned a lot about the behind-the-scenes parts of running a business, which gave me a leg up on starting my own, once the gunfights from drug dealers outside the building became too often to stay there anymore.

A terrible accident that is bringing many to Christ.
(Medellin air crash that killed 19 Brazilian soccer players from a total of 71 deaths on Nov 28, 2016)

The testimony of Hélio Zampier Neto, one of the six survivors.

Zampier Neto: A few days before the accident I had a nightmare: An air crash, the site was surrounded by mountains, it was night, raining, and there were four other survivors (in the actual accident there were five other survivors, but in his dream he saw only four of them).

I told my wife about the dream, but she wouldn’t listen. Before leaving home I told her: “Pray that the dream will not come true”.

When approaching Medellin airport I noticed that all (four) engines had flamed out and the cabin lights went off. Knowing that we were gonna crash, I cried: “Jesus, have mercy on us”.

The accident was on 28 NOV and I woke from the coma only on 10 DEC (2016). I learned of the death of my friends only 3 days later.

Brothers and sisters, value your loved ones while they’re still around because we’re here only for a time. Eternal life is possible only in heaven.

Later on a doctor told me that my survival was a huge miracle. My nose was completely shattered and had to be rebuilt; my brain got soiled with earth through a deep cut in the skull; one of my ears was hanging by a thread; one of my eyelids was pierced by a metal fragment that missed my eye by about 1 mm; my lungs were pierced by broken ribs and metal bars; one of my Achilles tendons was ruptured completely; one of my knees was cut so deeply that the bone was visible; one of the main ligaments in the same knee was severely injured; and there were bruises all over my body. The doctor said an implanted titanium plate prevented my cervical spinal cord from being pierced and that would have been fatal.

I was trapped under the wreckage for about 7 hours. The rescue team reported that I cried for help during the search. The doctor said that this was another huge miracle because my lungs were pierced by ribs and metal bars.

Brothers and sisters, I am not holier than anyone, I am completely undeserving. We should never waste time with unnecessary worldly affairs. We can enjoy material blessings, but God always deserves first place in our lives.

May the Lord be praised forever.

I don't have anything that I feel led to add to this post right now but think it is a great thread and deserves to be on people's radar again. :)

Love in Jesus,
