Is the Law of YHWH the only true standard of love? I say yes.

Can one be walking in love and be doing things against the Law? I say no.

If one follows the Law in it's true intent will they be loving toward YHWH and their fellow human? I say yes.

Mat 22:37-40, "Yahshua said to him: You must love YHWH your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. (Deut 6:5) This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Lev 19:18) On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

all” is word #G3650 - holos - Strong's Concordance, holos: whole, complete, Original Word: ὅλος, η, ον, Part of Speech: Adjective, Transliteration: holos, Phonetic Spelling: (hol'-os), Short Definition: all, the whole, entire, Definition: all, the whole, entire, complete

Mat 24:12, "And because iniquity will abound, the love of the many will grow cold."

"iniquity" is: #0458 anomia {an-om-ee'-ah} from G0459
Greek Word Study (Transliteration-Pronunciation Etymology & Grammar)
1) the condition of without law 1a) because ignorant of it1b) because of violating it, 2) contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness

Mat 7:12-14, "Therefore, all things you want men to do to you, do the same to them, for this is the (intent of the) Law and the Prophets. Enter in through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who go that way. Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way which leads to life, and few there are who find it."

Romans 13:8-10, "Owe no one any matter except to love (#G26)one another, for he who loves another has filled the Torah. For this, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet, and if there is any other (#G2087 ) command, it is summed up (#G346) up in this word, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to a neighbor. Therefore, love is completion of the Torah."

love” is word #G26 -agapé: love, goodwill, Original Word: ἀγάπη, ης, ἡ, Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine, Transliteration: agapé, Phonetic Spelling: (ag-ah'-pay), Short Definition: love, Definition: love, benevolence, good will, esteem; plur: love-feasts.

1 John 5:2-3, "By this we know that we love the children of Yah, when we love Yah and guard His commands. For this is the love for Yah, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy."

1 Timothy 1:5-7, " But the goal of the commandment is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions."

(goal)is word #G5056 –télos; Greek Dictionary (Lexicon-Concordance) - #5056 telos {tel'-os} from a primary tello (to set out for a definite point or goal)

HELPS Word-studies – 5056 télos (a neuter noun) – properly, consummation (the end-goal, purpose), such as closure with all its results.

1 John 4:20, “"If someone says, "I love Yah," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love Yah whom he has not seen."

1 John 2:3-7, “And by this we know that we know Him, if we guard His commands. The one who says, “I know Him,” and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever guards His Word, truly the love of Yah has been perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked. Beloved, I write no fresh command to you, but an old command which you have had from the beginning. The old command is the Word which you heard from the beginning.”

1 John 5:2-3, "By this we know that we love the children of Yah, when we love Yah and guard His commands. For this is the love for Yah, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy."

1 John 4:19-21, "We love Him, because He first loved us. If anyone says: I love YHWH, and hates his neighbor, he is a liar; for he who does not love his neighbor whom he has seen, how can he love YHWH Whom he has not seen? For we have this commandment from Him: That he who loves YHWH must love his neighbor also."

Now I am sure we can go ask 1,000,000,000 people "what is love" and get a different answer every time, but I say if we ask YHWH "what is love" a 1,000,000,000 times, we will get the same answer every time....

Mat 22:37-40, "Yahshua said to him: You must love YHWH your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might (Deuteronomy 6:5). This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Leviticus 19:18). On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Deuteronomy 6:5, "And you must love YHWH your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might."

Leviticus 19:18, "Do not seek revenge nor bear a grudge against one of your own people; but you shall love your neighbor; whether a brother or an enemy, as yourself. I am YHWH."

Exodus 20:6, "But showing love to thousands who love Me by keeping My Laws."

Mat 24:12, "And because iniquity will abound, the love of the many will grow cold."

Leviticus 19:18, "Do not seek revenge nor bear a grudge against one of your own people; but you shall love your neighbor; whether a brother or an enemy, as yourself. I am YHWH."

Leviticus 19:34, "The stranger living with you must be treated as one of your native-born, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am YHWH."

The two Greatest commandments that Jesus teach are indeed summaries of the Ten Commandments, so yes. The Decalogue is love.

But when we get into Leviticus... things get weird.

The law is NOT LOVE

LOVE is however, what empowers us to obey the law

You keep wanting to get it backwards.

Agaibn, I can not murder. Yet not have love at all. Just because I did not break the command does not mean I have any love in me4 at all. Even a non believer can not murder.. YTet we are told by scripture A non believer can only love human love, he can not love the love God requires. Because as scripture states. WE LOVE BECAUSE (as a result) GOD LOVES US FIRST (we experience Gods love the moment we are saved)

The two Greatest commandments that Jesus teach are indeed summaries of the Ten Commandments, so yes. The Decalogue is love.

But when we get into Leviticus... things get weird.
I agrre the 2 geart are the best example of love, but about Leviticus etc Law in that light I think 2 main things.

1. All sacrifical Law has been completed in Messiah Yahshua/Jesus, and while sacrifical Law is not the easiest thing, and heart breaking to think about what He went through, giving His child as sacrifice and Yahshua giving Himself up is an immense act of love toward us, again even if it is a bit hard to dwell on. More reason to do His will IMO, He was dedicated to make that offering.

John 3:16, “For יהוהso loved the world that He gave His only brought-forth Son, so that everyone who believes in Him should not perish but possess everlasting life.”

2. I think much of the OT Law is misunderstood, if we look at it in the Spirit/spiritually and glean it's true understanding (not saying ignoring what is literally written either) but in it's true intent I think it shows love also.

Here is an brief example:

This chapter deals with behavior towards our fellow humans:

love in practice, not in jaw flappin:

Leviticus 19:9-18,29-31 "When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not completely harvest the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. You shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and the stranger; I am YHWH your Father. You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie one to another. Do not vow falsely with My Name, and so profane the Name of your Father. I am YHWH. You shall not defraud your neighbor, nor rob him. Do not hold back the wages of a hired man overnight. Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling-block in front of the blind; but reverence your Father. I am YHWH. Do not pervert judgment: You shall not show partiality to the poor, nor honor to the person of the great. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor fairly. You shall not go about tale-bearing or slandering among your people. Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am YHWH. You shall not hate your neighbor in your heart. Rebuke your brother (or your sister) frankly, so you will not share in his (or her) guilt. Do not seek revenge nor bear a grudge against one of your own people; but you shall love your neighbor; (whether a brother or an enemy), as yourself. I am YHWH. Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a harlot; or the land will fall into harlotry, and the land will become full of wickedness. Do not turn to mediums nor familiar spirits. Do not seek after them, to be defiled by them. I am YHWH. You shall stand up before the gray headed, and you shall honor the presence of an Elder or Teacher; thereby giving reverence to your Heavenly Father. I am YHWH. If a stranger lives with you in your and, do not mistreat him. The stranger living with you must be treated as one of your native-born, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am YHWH. Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight, or quantity. You shall have honest balances, honest weights, an honest ephah. I am YHWH your Father Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Therefore, you must observe all My statutes and My judgments, and perform and do them. I am YHWH."

You shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and the stranger; I am YHWH your Father.

charity when there is an abundance.

You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie one to another.

simply right

Do not vow falsely with My Name
, and so profane the Name of your Father. I am YHWH.

YHWH's name is a strong High Tower to be honored

you shall not defraud your neighbor, nor rob him.Do not hold back the wages of a hired man overnight.

what if hee needs it and is counting on it to feed his familky?

Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling-block in front of the blind
; but reverence your Father. I am YHWH.

Acts 20:28, "Therefore, be on guard for yourselves and the whole flock over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the called out ones of YHWH, which Yahshua has purchased with His own blood."

Do not pervert judgment: You shall not show partiality to the poor, nor honor to the person of the great.

james 2:1My brothers,a show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

Isayah 1:17, “Learn to do what is good. Seek justice. Correct the oppressor. Defend the rights of the fatherless. Plead the widow’s cause.”

In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor fairly.

John 5:30, “Of Myself I am unable to do any matter. As I hear, I judge, and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own desire, but the desire of the Father who sent Me."

John 7:24, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

You shall not go about tale-bearing or slandering
among your people.

James 4:11, "Brothers, do not speak against one another. He that speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the Law and judges the Law. And if you judge the Law, you are not a doer of the Law but a judge."

Proverbs 10:18, “He who hides hatred has lying lips, And he who sends out a slander is a fool.”

Psalm 31:18, “Let lips of falsehood be silenced, which speak recklessly against the righteous, With pride and scorn.”

Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am YHWH.

You shall not hate your neighbor in your heart
. Rebuke your brother (or your sister) frankly, so you will not share in his (or her) guilt.

Titus 1:9, "Holding fast the teaching according to the faithful word in order that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and to refute those who contradict."

2 Timothy 3:16, All Scripture is breathed out by Yah and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness.”

Proverbs 24:25-26, "But he who rebukes the wicked will be a delight, and a righteous blessing will be called upon him. A fitting; appropriate, answer is like a kiss on the lips."

Proverbs 10:17, "He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses reproof goes astray."

Proverbs 12:1, "Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is brutish"

Do not seek revenge nor bear a grudge against one of your own people; but you shall love your neighbor; (whether a brother or an enemy), as yourself. I am YHWH.

Luke 17:3-4, "So be on your guard! If your brother trespasses against you, rebuke him! But if he repents, forgive him! And if he trespasses against you seven times in one day, and seven times in that day turns to you, and says; I repent; then you must forgive him."Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a harlot; or the land will fall into harlotry, and the land will become full of wickedness. Do not turn to mediums nor familiar spirits. Do not seek after them, to be defiled by them. I am YHWH.

You shall stand up before the gray headed, and you shall honor the presence of an Elder or Teacher; thereby giving reverence to your Heavenly Father. I am YHWH.

Ephesians 6:2-3, "Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with a promise: That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."

If a stranger lives with you in your and, do not mistreat him. The stranger living with you must be treated as one of your native-born, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am YHWH.

no racisim

Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight, or quantity.

You shall have honest balances, honest weights, an honest ephah. I am YHWH your Father Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Therefore, you must observe all My statutes and My judgments, and perform and do them. I am YHWH."

Without the law there would be no knowledge of sin. The law kills. Jesus saves. Maybe it's a form of tough love.

But when we get into Leviticus... things get weird.
There is much in Leviticus that is not applicable to Christians, since Christ is the fulfillment of all the sacrifices, and some of the feasts. The Levitical priesthood has been abolished and the dietary laws are null and void. Outward circumcision has been replaced by inward circumcision. But even in Leviticus, the Law of Love is quite evident, and Peter quotes this commandment to Christians as being applicable to them: Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

No it is not.

The law says do not murder. Thats is not love,

Love is the power behind obedience to the law. But the law in and of itself is not Love.

Is the Law of YHWH the only true standard of love? I say yes.
Good question Hizikyah.

You cannot SEPARATE God's Law (10 commandments) from LOVE in the life of a BELIEVER because in a BELIEVER their FAITH works by LOVE and LOVE is the FULFILLING of the LAW in the LIFE of those that BELIEVE. THIS however is the GIFT of GOD in those who BELIEVE and NOT of WORKS lest any man should boast. LOVE is the POWER of GOD to all who DO NOT LOVE WHO BELIEVE GOD'S WORD. FAITH is the VICTORY that OVERCOMES the WORLD. He that DOES NOT LOVE is NOT from GOD because GOD IS LOVE and LOVE IS THE FULFILLING of GOD'S LAW.

Let's look at the scriptures...................

What does Jesus say when he talk about the commandments. Jesus is quoting from Old testament scriptures of Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18.................

Matthew 22
36, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38, This is the first and great commandment.
39, And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40, ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

Let's get clearer......................................................

Matthew 19
16, And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17, And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: BUT IF YOU WILL ENTER INTO LIFE KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
18, He saith unto him, WHICH? JESUS SAID, THOU SHALT NOT MURDER, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, HONOR YOU MOTHER AND FATHER AND THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF
20, The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21, Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. <Jesus showed him that he may have fulfilled His duty of love to his neighbor but not to God breaking commandment 1 and 2 loving riches more than God>

Well Jesus makes it very clear that what he is talking about it is the 10 commandments of God's Law.

What about James................................................................

James 2
8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF, ye do well:
9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10, FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL KEEP THE WHOLE LAW AND YET OFFEND IN ONE POINT, HE SHALL BE GUILTY OF ALL.
11, FOR HE THAT SAID, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY SAID ALSO DO NOT KILL. NOW IF YOU DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY AND YOU KILL, YOU HAVE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF GOD'S LAW.
12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Well James makes it very clear what he is talking about when he talks about the Royal Law of love. He is talking about the 10 commandments. So Jesus and James both agree that they are talking about God's 10 commandments which also include the 4th commandment which is one of the ten.

What about Paul? He wrote a lot of books in God's Word...........................

Romans 13

8, Owe no man any thing, but to LOVE ONE ANOTHER: for HE THAT LOVES ANOTHER HAS FULFILLED THE LAW.
9, For this, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and IF THERE SHALL BE ANY OTHER COMMANDMENT, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.
10, Love works no ill to his neighbour: therefore LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF THE LAW.

Paul makes it very clear what he is talking about as well when he is talking about God's Law. It seems like Jesus, James and Paul all agree together what it is they are referring to when talking about God's Law. They are all referring to God's 10 commandments which includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:1-17)

God's Law by itself WITHOUT GOD is NOT LOVE it is the knowledge of GOOD (if followed) and EVIL (SIN if disobeyed). It is the standard of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS in the Old and NEW Covenants and the judgement to come (Exodus 20:1-17; Hebrew 8:10-12; James 2:9-8-12). THEY ARE THE ACTIONS OF LOVE in those who BELIEVE because it is GOD working through the BELIEVER and cannot be SEPARATED from LOVE which is the POWER of GOD unto SALVATION to ALL WHO BELIEVE.

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30-31). God's Word says if we break one of the ten we stand guilty before God of breaking all the commandments of God (James 2:8-12). God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and if we break it like any of the other commandments we stand guilty before God of SIN (Exodus 20:1-17).

If we break any of God’s Laws we stand guilty before God in SIN (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20). This includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:26-27; 31)

Nice thread may God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

We do not agree on much but this is correct. However at the same time you CANNOT SEPARATE GOD'S LAW from LOVE they are ONE but not the same. LOVE is GOD and the LAW is HIS Character

Really? If love is the FULFILLING of the Law (as Scripture plainly states), then the Law is Love.

Strong's Concordance
pléróma: fullness, a filling up
Original Word: πλήρωμα, ατος, τό
Part of Speech: Noun, Neuter
Transliteration: pléróma
Phonetic Spelling: (play'-ro-mah)
Short Definition: fullness, fulfillment, completion
Definition: (a) a fill, fullness; full complement; supply, patch, supplement, (b) fullness, filling, fulfillment, completion.

The first four commandments = LOVE GOD

The last six commandments = LOVE NEIGHBOR

On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

In my country some time law drive by greed.

For Example, about 30 years ago, there is a law that C love farmer must sale their harvest to institution call coperation

this institution buy about 60% of market price.

i heard the son of president behind this law, he buy cheap and sale at the market price.

I hope this Example give us clue what is the spirit of law mean.

Love is the spirit of the law. Mean love is the drive force of the law
Only when it comes to christ.

His love fulfilled the law. And fulfilled the law in us..

we can not fulfill the law no matter how much we love, we will fail
