1 Corinthians 1:18 King James Version (KJV)[SUP]

18
[/SUP]For the Preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are Saved it is the Power of God. (The Cross is the Power of God simply because it was there that the total sin debt was paid, giving the Holy Spirit, in Whom the Power resides, latitude to work mightily within our lives.)

So my question is, how is the Power of God (The Holy Spirit) manifested in a Christian's life to overcome the powers of darkness, to understand the Word of God, and to obey the Word of God? How is this done?

Does the Holy Spirit automatically work in a Christian life?

Because faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.....the power is in the message.

I liken Gods Holy Spirit to a kind of Super Conscience hitting ones heart when one is wandering away from the truth or when one needs to be more loving to others..

The preaching of the cross is foolishness to the world, for it does not make sense to them why it has to be that way to have a relationship with God,or do not believe in God.

The Bible says no person calls Jesus,Lord, but by the Holy Ghost, and all those who confess Jesus Christ has come in flesh is of God,and Peter said that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God,which Jesus said flesh and blood did not reveal that to him,but the Father.

Many are called, but few are chosen, and not many noble, not many mighty, not many wise after the flesh is called.

God calls people who have the right heart condition to be called, and then works with them to get them to the truth, but not all get to that truth, which is why many are called, but few are chosen, but God is still working in their life to get them to the truth.

God works in the world to get all people to come to the truth, but does not work with all by His Spirit like the people who did not like to retain God in their knowledge,so He turned them over to a reprobate mind(Romans 1).

But the ones God called He works with them by His Spirit to get them to the truth.

The Bible says some have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, and points out it is their sins why they never came to the truth, for they thought that sin does not affect their relationship with God,so they held unto sin,and did it intentionally thinking they were still right with God,which Jesus said they could not dwell with Him because of their sins they would not get rid of.

The Gospel is the power of God for it saves us,which He has the power to save us.

What do you mean by "automatically work?"
If the Holy Spirit automatically work in our lives there would never be a failure in the life of a single Christian. What must the Holy Spirit see from a Christian that gives Him the legal means to help the Christian?

I disagree that if he automatically works, we'd never fail. That is not critical thinking. Seems Biblical that he works all things for our good.

You've yet to define what "automatically work" means.

Now, one more, what is this "gives him the legal means to help" mean?????

Automatically work = The benefits of the Resurrection Life. The sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit mortifies the deed of the flesh by changing my condition into my position which is perfect and Holy because God has declared us justified (not guilt and innocent).

Legal means = Authorize to help the Christian in every capacity of life.

There's a piercing of the heart with the gospel message, that is like an arrow to the old man, but a creative word to the new man. And new life in the Spirit begins with regeneration. A new generation of light bearers. Carrying the life, in the light of the Son of God within.

We are the generation of "whom shall this generation declare"!

For the Preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are Saved it is the Power of God.

Here we need to focus on the Cross itself and how it manifests the power of God in the believer's life.

1. We have been freed from the penalty of our sins and our guilt because they were laid on Christ at the Cross.

2. We have been washed in the blood of the Lamb which means we are righteous in God's sight.

3. Our "old man" was crucified with Christ which means that our flesh (sin) cannot have dominion over us.

4. We have been raised to walk in newness of life, which means that we are new creatures in Christ.

5. We shall be resurrected because Christ not only died for our sins but rose again for our justification.

6. We shall be perfected and glorified since that is what believers are elected and predestined for.

All of this demonstrates the power of God through the power of the Cross and of the resurrection of Christ. When the Cross is preached then the resurrection of Christ must be tied to it.

Are you asking if we have to give God permission?

Also, you haven't addressed this:

I agree with every statement expect #6.

As a Christian we were "set free" the moment we are saved - "made free" speaks of a process. "Set Free," i.e., instantaneous - "Made Free, " i.e., You should know the truth and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32, John 14:6). "Made Free" = sanctification.

Two kinds of peace
1. Justifying Peace - This is Peace with God, a legal standing. Rom. 8:7; Eph. 2:14-15

2. Sanctifying Peace - This is the Peace of God in the heart. Rom. 8:6; 14:19; 15:13; Gal. 1:3

The first is the result of a legal standing. The second is the result of the Work of the Holy Spirit. The first is static, never fluctuates, the second changes almost from hour to hour. The first, every Christian has, the second, every Christian may have.

Also, you haven't addressed this:
1. God's prescribed order of victory over sin, the world, the flesh, and the Devil is to place your Faith exclusively in who Jesus is (God's Beloved Son in whom He is please), and what Jesus has done (at the Cross of Calvary). By doing so this glorifies Christ that gives the Holy Spirit the legal means to drive out the enemy and help us in every capacity of life. The Holy Spirit, He Works strictly within the parameters of the "Finished Work" i.e., "the Cross of Christ", which demands that our Faith be exclusively in the Cross of Christ. The reason is simple, that's were the price was paid, and the victory was forever won (Romans 6:1-14; 1 Cor. 2:2; Gal. 5; Gal. 6:14; Eph. 2:13-18; Col. 2:14-15). The Holy Spirit is the sanctifier for the Christian; we cannot sanctify ourselves.

2. And we know that all things work together for good (but only if certain conditions are met) to them who love God ( the first condition), to them who are the called according to His purpose (this means it's "His purpose, and not ours," which is the second condition; otherwise, all things will not work together for our good).

Not sure why you would disagree with #6, since it alludes to our future perfection and glorification. That is yet future and will be fulfilled at the Resurrection/Rapture.

You're conflating the regenerating work of God in salvation which causes us to love God with something we do. IOW your "conditions" are what God has wrought, not man. This is how you make and arrive at erroneous conclusions.

We can only receive glorification if our Faith is placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., The Finished Work, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, if we remain in His Word (John 8:31).

We can only receive glorification <snip>
The above isn't true, in fact it is false. All salvific phases of Romans 8:26ff will be experienced by all believers whom God sought out and saved via His decree to save his elect. That is the language and meaning of the text, all phases are accomplished though not all are yet realized.

Either you are under "Grace" or the "Law." There must be "oil in the lamp (extra oil for refilling's daily - Matthew 25:1-13)" What caused the lamps to go out in the time of Samuel as a boy, is causing the lamps to go out presently (1 Sam. 3:1-9). The Bible teaches us that many Christians retained the outward show and form of Faith but neglected the true inward life of Faith. The "Law" is a curse.

Remember, Jesus said out of the 10 Virgins (Believers), 5 were wise and 5 became foolish (once a Believer)...their oil was gone.

The next important advise from Apostle Peter,If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God KJV1Peter4:11 11. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth; that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Are you positive this is about believers MOC? The foolish never had oil. I believe this to be about Israel and the time of Jesus. They all are of Israel, the nation. But, not all are spiritual Israel. The body of Christ.
