If the "different gospel" was not grace + the law of Moses, what was it then?

I do not believe the "different gospel" had anything to do with grace.

Paul states that they were turning from grace to something which was a perversion of the gospel of Christ (Gal 1:7) and which does nothing but bring trouble (as opposed to the peace promised by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in John 14:27).

It is a false gospel that sounds great on the surface but ultimately leads to spiritual death.

it was/is the 'gospel' according of the 'great deceiver', you know, the one who
is always trying to imitate our Holy Saviour - it's kind of like his job and purpose -
just look at how many listen to him, it's quite amazing in so many carnal ways
that we are witnessing in these last-days...

I believe he was speaking of the fact that they were putting themselves back under bondage by attempting to gain salvation via works i.e. following the law, instead of relying on grace.

A different Gospel is one that tries to do away with God's WORD or only uses some of God's WORD to make it of none effect.
[FONT=&quot]
The different Gospel is one that tries to separate God's LAW from the LOVE of God.
[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]
Why is God's Law important to helping someone to have faith in Christ alone? [/FONT][FONT=&quot]

Because it is only through the Law of God (10 commandments) that any of us have a knowledge of what sin is (1John 3:4; Rom 3:20; 24). If we do away with God's Law we have no knowledge of sin. If we have no knowledge of sin we have no need of a savior. If we have no need of a savior we have no salvation. If we have no salvation we are lost. "For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law." (Rom 2:12).

God's Law shows us that we are sinners in need of a savior. God's Law was given to us that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God (Rom 3:19). It shows us that we are sinners and cannot save ourselves from this disease that we have within us so that we can by Faith lay hold of the promises of God's Words so that Jesus can save us from our sins. Jesus did not come to save the righteous (those that think they do not need saving) but sinners (those that know their need of saving) (Matt 9:12-13; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32) God's Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ. It will be the basis of the judgement where we will all be accountable to God.

The Law of God is the only way of showing us who we truly are, sinners in need of a Saviour and in this condition we can see for the first time Him who loved us and washed us in His own blood and by faith only lay hold of the promises of God’s Word. (2Pet 1:4) It is here as we believe God that he changes us from living a life of breaking God's Law to a life of walking with him. It is through the operation of God through Love because he first loved us that we follow Jesus not for salvation but because of love. Love is the fulfilling of God's Law in us who walk not after the flesh (carnal sinful mind) but after the spirit and why Jesus says to his followers, "If you love me keep the commandments" (John 14:15).

People cannot see that this is the operation of God in the believer and assume God's people believe they are saved by their works, when in fact Jesus is saving us from our sins to walk in newness of life in fulfillment of His new Covenant promise (Heb 8:10-12)...... Gods Sheep hear His Voice salvation is from sin and sin is the transgression of God's Law (1John 3:4) whosoever is living in sin has neither seen him nor known him (1John 3:6) ............[/FONT]

I was a class B ham for six months only, some 33 years ago. The maximum speed I could do was 8 wpm. The interesting thing is that I didn't forget the code. It's over midnight, my time. I'd like to ask you a few questions about ham radio tomorrow if you don't mind.

Nice meeting you!

Good day to you!

2Cor 11:4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus different from the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the one you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it well enough!

I pray this helps...

Scripture ALWAYS verifies Scripture, even if we (finite) understand it or not.....

God Bless..

The different gospel (or "another gospel") addressed in Galatians was the Gospel of the Judaizers. They taught that those who put their faith in Christ must also maintain and do the works of the Law in order to be saved. So they were mixing grace + works, or faith + works. Many churches today are preaching the same kind of false gospel.

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? (Gal 3:2,3).

It was indeed grace + the law of Moses IMO or grace + the 10 commandments.

I think Paul is implying that anything other than 1 Cor 15:1-4 is a Different Gospel whatever its shape takes!

The problem begins when Judaizers come and say that His commands for us are the same that were said to Jews by Moses.

Acts 15:5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party
of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be
circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”

[SUP]6 [/SUP]The apostles and elders met to consider this question.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them:
“Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice
among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips
the message of the gospel and believe.

[SUP]8 [/SUP]God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them
by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.

[SUP]9 [/SUP]He did not discriminate between us and them,
for he purified their hearts by faith.

[SUP]10 [/SUP]Now then, why do you try to test God by putting
on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we
nor our ancestors have been able to bear?

[SUP]11 [/SUP]No! We believe it is through the grace of our
Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

The Gospel was certainly under attack by the Judaizers then and is under attack today by those who are mixed up in various false religions and cults who play the same game in salvation as every other false movement of Christendom. They teach that salvation is by grace plus law, faith plus works. Their doctrine of salvation is a subtle mixture of law and grace that is a perversion of the Gospel. :(

Ever wonder why the end has never come as indicated in Matthew 24:14 the end would come upon having completed preaching the gospel throughout the world? It is because so many false gospels have been preached, and are being preached, other than the true gospel.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
