What do you call it when the lyrics of an old gospel tune run through your mind when sitting in church and a message is being preached from the pulpit? Distraction? Epiphany? Revelation?

The things that are involved with positioning yourself to receive from the Lord was the subject of the message. Having faith to believe that your prayers will be answered is important, of course.

Toward the end of the sermon, the melody of the old song "Is your life a channel of blessing" starting running through my mind. I could not remember all of the lyrics, so I had to google them.

The first verse goes like this; "Is your life a channel of blessing? Is the love of God flowing through you? Are you telling the lost of the Savior? Are you ready His service to do?.........."

When I think of a river channel, I think of something that is constantly flowing 24-7-365. There is a constant source for the water and a constant discharge that ultimately ends up in the ocean.

If we are a channel of blessing, we are always receiving something that we need and always giving something to someone who has a need; it could be material needs,or emotional support, or information, whatever.

If you don't have anything, how can you give anything?

What does it take to be a channel of blessing? Compassion? Humility? Strong work ethic? Faith? Knowledge (both practical and spiritual)? Courage? Long suffering? A willingness to be vulnerable? A sincere desire to actually get to know the people that you come into contact with?

In order to position ourselves to receive from God, must we learn to be a channel of blessing?

Or is there another way? Is there an easier way than that to be in a position to receive from God?

In order to be a channel of blessing it begins with first and best advice father ever gave me, seek love above all other things and everything else will fall into place. At that time I did not know the scripture saying seek first the kingdom of god and all other things will be giving to you yet I knew what he meant when he spoke it to me. And so from the beginning of my faith I sought after the love of god more than anything else, I sought to be filled deeply and richly with it, to know it, to have it flow through my very veins.

Love, not the kind of love as the human heart knows of but the kind of love that comes from God's heart alone is the key when on has that love flowing in them all it takes after that is a willing heart. You see God is not looking for the strong and the wise nor is he looking for those who have the faith to move mountains he is looking for the willing and the ones who would seek his heart. These are the people he uses to be a channel of blessing the most not because they are strong or because they have amazing faith but because they are flexible they are filled with his love first and foremost and also they are willing to be used whenever and however he desires they are not any one thing for him and they do not limit how he uses them because even if they are lacking in everything and in every fruit of the spirit that willingness is all he needs

I think
you gave real answers to your own question. I recently had a small opportunity to reach out to two young girls carolling early in the day.. There is no time to talk more abt them now, but just that we talked a little before we parted ways, i asked their names and am remembering them in prayer even if we do not see them again (soon). I think simply praying for others is a privilege.

These words come to mind; "the last shall be first and the first shall be last".
