I've hit upon a few verses that make me think that God is only able to use the power of his Holy Spirit when it is used through others. First The Word seems to have no power of his own. The universe was created by God through him. I am thinking that the power came from God's Holy Spirit, because when The Word came to earth as Jesus, the Holy Spirit entered into him before any mention of a miracle is made. While he was here he said that he was able to do nothing by himself. Anytime a miracle, written of, was done on earth by anyone, it was actually enabled by the Holy Spirit. It seems that God is the brains, the Holy Spirit is the power and The Word, Jesus, angels and humans are the conduits through which the power is projected. I didn't include any verses because most of you know the ones I am referring to. Thoughts?

I agree - and that is why Jesus said that we would do the same works He did. We are to be filled with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to do the works through us that fulfill the purposes of God.

It is just that we can get in His way by lack of belief, or lack of surrender (putting ourselves first).

However, since I believe in the Trinity as One Person, it all comes from God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. Even though they have different functions, they are not separate.

I've hit upon a few verses that make me think that God is only able to use the power of his Holy Spirit when it is used through others.
Since the Holy Spirit Himself is God, He can do what God can do, and does not NEED the agency of anyone. That He chooses to work through people is beside the point.
First The Word seems to have no power of his own. The universe was created by God through him.
Since the Word is also God, He has "the fulness of the Godhead" within Himself. So that means He has His own power also, and indeed all power has been placed in the hands of Christ.
I am thinking that the power came from God's Holy Spirit, because when The Word came to earth as Jesus, the Holy Spirit entered into him before any mention of a miracle is made.
Since the Son of Man (on earth) voluntarily subjected Himself to the Father's will, He was to be filled with the Spirit and do His miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit. But that did not mean that He laid aside His deity. He simply laid aside His Divine majesty, and became the Servant of His Father. At the same time, He said that He Himself would raise Himself from the dead (and we know that both the Father and the Holy Spirit were also involved in the resurrection).

We need to be very careful in attempting to understand things which are really beyond human comprehension. All the false doctrines which arose in the first century centered around the nature of Christ and God, where people tried to use their humanistic reasoning to "figure out" God, and stumbled.

JOHN 1:3.
All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

JOHN 1:10.
He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.

1:14.
And The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory
as of The Only Begotten of The Father,) full of Grace and Truth.

God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, and God the Son are all Deity (God), and are therefore capable of all the things God is capable of. Jesus, out of humbleness of heart, submitted His abilities to the Will of the Father- that does not mean “incapable” it means “self-controlled”.

interesting ,

remember the Spirit of God was and is and has always been. Gen 1.

In addition The Holy Spirit is God near. unlike God a far off. God is everywhere but HE chooses to be near those who HE is in a relationship with. God is in my Town, in my home, and in my Heart but HE is everywhere too.

Do not try to invent a wheel (and wrongly):

"We believe in.... the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father..."
(Nicene creed)

"The Son is of the Father alone; not made, nor created; but begotten. The Holy Spirit is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten; but proceeding."

(Athanasian creed)

So, if you are looking for a "source", its Father.

The trinity as well as the 3persons of the Godhead are multifaceted.
So there are many things I can say scripturally that are parallel truths.

The Holy Spirit is not just the helper, the power, the guide,. He is those things and more

the Holy Spirit is a Person in context to the description of HIM
yes, i agree.

we can also see He is associated with the power from the following verses;
Acts 1:8
but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

Acts 10:38
You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Romans 1:4
who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:19
in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and round about as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:4
and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

1 Thessalonians 1:5
for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake

From post #4 (Nehemiah6) Since the Word is also God, He has "the fulness of the Godhead" within Himself. So that means He has His own power also, and indeed all power has been placed in the hands of Christ.

The fullness of God was likely the Holy Spirit and since Jesus said that by himself he could do nothing, it doesn't track with me that he had his own power, but I agree that he had Godly power.

Why does The Son of God call Himself The Son of Man?

i think if we understand the answer to this ((which isn't just, oh, that title comes from Daniel but why that is what that is)) then it answers all the other questions in this thread.
