We do not know much about these wise men.
We do not even know how many there was.
the bible says they where wise men from the east.

At the time of Jesus, the lost ten tribes where scattered abroad[not local residents].
the decendents of both the northern and southern tribes had Levites in them.

so [my guess] would be they where decendent to the Levites, from the scattered tribes.

2Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews?
for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

How did the wise men know Micah 5:2 ?, they [must have had] scriptures.
How did they know it was this star that stood for the king of the Jews?
They came to worship the new king, and bring presents.

an Israel tradition.

Welcome to CC, Mcg...
Your question is a bit difficult to understand, because of issues with spelling, grammar, and terminology. Perhaps if it were written differently, it would be easier: "Were the shepherds (mentioned in Luke 2) Jewish or of some other ethnic group?"

Incidentally, "we're" (pronounced "weer") is a contraction of "we are" and is distinct from "were" (pronounced "wur") which is the past tense of the verb "are". Also, if "Palestinians" is capitalized then so should be "Jews".

Although according to Rome at that time, the entire region was called Palestine (a corruption of "Philistine"), it is incorrect to call anyone from that time "Palestinian" which is a 20th century term. The peoples surrounding Judea (southern Israel) at that time were Egyptian, Nabatean, Idumean (Edomite) and Samaritan (a mixture of Israelite and Assyrian).

Though possible, it is unlikely that the angels were revealed to non-Jews, who would have little cultural context in which to understand what the angels were revealing. Shepherding was a common occupation among the Hebrews, going back to the time of the patriarchs in Genesis.

The the name Palestine was given for the whole of what is now Israel by the Romans. It was named after the Philistines which lived in the area which is now known as the Gaza strip. The Bible doesn't specify what nationality the Shepherds were but it is my guess that they were either Jews or Samaritans. The occupation of Shepherd was not considered a good one at that time. I believe it was because they had to break the Sabbath by tending their flocks.

There was no such thing as Palestinians versus Jews at that time. Judea was a Roman province and Jerusalem and Bethlehem were in Judea, where there were only Jews. So they were clearly Jews living near Bethlehem, and evidently simple men who trusted God. Therefore they were given the privilege of seeing the Christ child and then reporting the good news to others.

By the time Jesus was born, the Promise Land had dwindled down to two tribes/nations. One was Judea. (Can't remember the other one, sorry.) Mary and Joe were both from Judea and living in Judea, which, by that time, had been capture by Rome, and had become part of their empire. And at the time of Jesus' birth, they had to go back to Bethlehem to be counted in the census, along with everyone else who was ever born there. I'm thinking the shepherds were Judeians too. Either living there all along or bringing their sheep with them to be counted in the census, because you can't just leave sheep behind that long. They aren't that bright.

Since they understood what the angels were all excited about, it's safe to assume they were "Jewish." But, oddly enough I really don't know when the Israelites became Jews. Why weren't they still Israelites?

Well, actually sheep stink, (think of the smell of wet wool), so shepherding would get sheep-stink all over you. Something that makes people wrinkle their noses anyway.

And, according to American history, you really don't want to like sheep because they eat down to the roots of the plants, while cows only eat the top. So if a cowherd goes through, the grass can grow again quickly to be reused, but if sheep hit it, it's done for the year, giving nothing for cows afterward. (The reason our cowboys fought sheep herders in the Old West.)

The Shepherds were Jewish men. Interestingly enough... Luke who is writing to a gentile focuses on the angel coming to these Jewish man as being witnesses to the birth of the Christ child. Well Matthew who's writing to the Jews focuses on the Gentile Magi as being witnesses to the Christ child. Two separate gospels written test to separate audiences both identify in the same event. Yet showing that both Jews and Gentiles were to be included in the promise of the Messiah.

Because of Solomon's idolatry, God told him that his son, Rehoboam, would loose all the tribes except Benjamin, (and some of the Levites). Rehoboam founded the Northern Kingdom, Israel, and the southern kingdom was named Judea. While Isaiah was the primary prophet of Judea, during the reign of Uzziah.

There are not and have never been a people who could rightly be called Palestinians. Palestine became a British mandate after WW1 as a result of the work of the League of Nations. Palestine was named for the Philistines, who were of Greek, NOT Arab descent. Those people who now claim to be 'Palestinians' are those who left their homes to fight against Israel in 1967 and were not welcomed back home by Jordan and Egypt after the war. They have no legitimate claim on anything. Israel has been feeding them as a humanitarian gesture because nobody else stepped up.
