Yes it is a different story for us all, and praise God he knows what's best for us and how to work in us.
No heart is beyond His power but we must submit to Him, I think at times we all rebel but the more we know Him we rebel less and less, eventually submitting to Him, also called truly laying everything at His feet.

Psalm 86:7-12, "In the day of my distress I call upon You, For You answer me. There is none like You among the mighty ones, O יהוה; And like Your works there are none. Let all nations You have made Come and bow themselves before You, O יהוה, And give esteem to Your Name. For You are great, and are doing wonders; You are Mighty, You alone. Teach me Your way, O יהוה ; Let me walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your Name. I praise You, O יהוה my Strength, with all my heart, And I esteem Your Name forever."

Walk trough the valley

Believing this to declare the work of God:
The white garment is the righteous acts of the saint and what makes them saints is the Holy Spirit: Saint is a French word for Holy. The Holy Spirit does not speak of Himself but reveals Jesus to us: We can conclude that being led by the Spirit we don't speak of ourselves as well, a good indication is there is no mention of me in the Lord's prayer: Our Father... give us... forgive us, Lead us... deliver us... Also found out that praying in the name of Jesus is not about adding His name to the end of our prayers. Even knowing this did not solve thee trouble. Years ago told the Lord: Lord you know where all the Gold is, You could Show me and I will feed the poor. He replied: It would only make you more conceited. While I agreed and let it go, 7 years later figured out I was praying in my name.

A wonderful thing happened today, have been delivered out of temptation: that feeling of I will never have trouble again, but older and wiser to the call, "Daily pick up your cross and follow me."

I think the most important one is caring for the poor in whatever way you feel called to do.

Inspired by the 'The Not By Works' Thread

I don't want to start a heated exchange.
I was just wondering what people think of as their works.

I expect there will be different ideas about what Christian works are and some of the more modest people don't like looking as if they are "boasting" about themselves. We aren't all missionaries in Bangladesh or voluntary care workers though. So what are your works?
(if any)
i have no works. My life is a work of God all honor and glory be to Him.

however i will tell you how God has worked in my life and how he calls me to minister to others.

i feel at this time my calling is as a mom, firstly.

i also am being trained as a stephen minster. someone who provides one on one CHRISTIAN counseling with those going through loss, depression, etc. we refer people to medical profressionals when needed or financial advisors. we are mainly non ordained people who listen and pray with others.

i also love to teach and tutor students and lead a Christ care group of young moms.

when you pray, God reveals not just what is printed on the page but what folks mean in their hearts. i could have responded in pride and stopped at my first statement, but God gave me the grace to see what you are asking.

at least i hope that is what you mean. it might be misplaced confidence (some would call it pride), but know i responded out of love.

What about Matt 25? Those working are going to heaven and those not working are being condemned. Also remember Jam 2:17

Don't forget the following.

Ephesians 2:8-10 (NKJV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Works are the FRUIT, and NOT THE ROOT of salvation. Faith works through love (Galatians 5:6) in the transforming, regenerating power of the Holy Spirit and good works are expressions of the love of God which the Spirit pours into the believer's heart (Romans 5:5).

We cannot boast about our works because they are just as much a result of grace as faith is.
