IMHO, we can step onto dangerous ground whenever we begin to suggest that we are "superior" to another whenever it comes to gifts of the HS.

In the Body of Christ, there are many different talents and/or gifts and as in all parts of the human body, all are meant to help the other parts.

Just saying.
Very true.

And if my part of the body is the ass, I will accept that:cool:

Like God, He created us as one person with 3 parts - spirit, soul and body.

spirit - the part of us where the Holy Spirit dwells in us and with us - Emanuel - God with us on the Earth

soul - our mind, will and emotions - our souls must be restored, this is a process that takes a lifetime.

body - our Earth suit or vessel or house or Temple of the Holy Spirit

Hope this helps!
In agreement with this understanding. Also would like to add a couple of verses concerning eternal life we receive at the time we are born again:
1 Corinthians 13:

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

In this lifetime, we will always be considered as a child ... no matter how "spiritually mature" we think we are.

In vs 12, we are told then shall I know even as also I am known. So at this point in time, God knows and sees us as we will be. Sometimes we may see glimpses of ourselves as we will be as God reveals to us certain truths.

1 John 3:

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

We should never become discouraged when we feel as if we do not fit in with those around us. The world will never know us and we need to comprehend this truth and let it settle in our hearts.

We are sons of God now but we will not be made like our Lord Jesus Christ until He appears.

Take a look at 2 Corinthians 4. That chapter is filled with spiritual truth:

1 Corinthians 4:

1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

I realize we are being humorous but there is an amazing truth here. God said the "lesser" more unseemly parts of the body actually receive more honor so that they are made equal to the rest of the body.

1 Corinthians 12:23-25Amplified Bible (AMP)

23 and as for those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, these we treat with greater honor; and our less presentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 while our more presentable parts do not require it. But God has combined the [whole] body, giving greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25 so that there would be no division or discord in the body [that is, lack of adaptation of the parts to each other], but that the parts may have the same concern for one another.

How great is our God?

Just a thought. The front would never get to where it needs to be without the rear.

Oh yes and many a person has felt condemned because they do not speak in tongues.
Many told it's evidence of salvation. Was told once because I did not speak in tongues then I wasn't saved.

We have all been given a gift.

What's more important?

Gifts or fruit?
Do they interact?
Oh gosh, this division over the gift of tongues in the Body of Christ should not exist. Maybe it's just given to people that need to be able to encourage and edify themselves because they end up on a lot of solo missions with God and no one is around to speak life to them.

Bottom line - it is one of the gifts mentioned and it does have its place in the Body of Christ. I'm pretty sure God knows what He's doing. :)

I do speak in tongues and treasure the Giver of the gift very much and will always be open to ANY of His precious gifts!:)

Yes and may we be pleased with what gift(s) he has given us and use it.

Some people have to sit in the rear of the church...

and some people ARE the rear of the church.

Before anyone starts pointing at me... I'd just like to remind you the colon is a mighty part of the body.

You could have waited till I had finished my cup of tea before posting that.
Tea is not pleasant when snorted through the nose when one laughs whilst the cup is in one's mouth.
Anyone here a nose?
