1. What does the Bible say about Spiritual Gifts?
A. Can anyone post all the Bible verses that mention it?
B. Do we have a list of the spiritual gifts God gives to us.

2. What did those gifts look like in the early church?

3. Does God still give us those gifts today? All or just in part?

4. If you believe that God has given you a spiritual gift, how did God reveal that gift to you?

*******

Those are just some questions I would like to ask the forum this morning.

My dog woke me up and I can't go back to sleep. It is currently 4:49 am.

I know it's hoping against reality to ask people to be polite and not bicker or fight because not everyone who claim to be of God are truly Hi. Even those who are His,many are like spoiled children who refuse to grow up.

I am sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's hard to be on these forums without becoming shockingly aware of humanity a d how we fall short of God's glory.

Therefore I ask that before you post, you pray and ask God to help you tame your tongue.

We are children of God and the world will watch and see how we treat one another. Jesus says they will know us by our love for one another.

Therefore we may differ in theology and what we believe the Bible means, but I hope to find others who share my love of God and scriptures, I hope there are others who have had God touched their hearts and over and are not just faking it and going through the motions.

God bless and keep you.

I will post a prayer after this because I believe we should start every discussion in prayer for the Enemy roams the earth like a lion seeking whom he might devour.

Dear God:

I don't know why I felt lead to start this thread. If it was by your hand then I know it will grow. If it was by my own pride or idle curiousity, then let it die and fade into obscurity. Either may your will be done. I pray down the people on CC. I know we could be silent and you would still hear us Lord, but I follow the example Jesus gave when he prayed out loud for us because there is power in the spoken word to break strongholds and free people from their spiritual chains, there is so much false doctrines in the world that cause people to stay trapped in sin, that lead people away from you and Your path. Lord it hurts my heart to see people puff themselves up with pride because they falsely believe they have been "anointed" by You God. Don't they know that God seems the humble and disciplines the proud? Lord help us remain humble. Let us be like Christ and serve others as servants of the King and not the cruel taskmasters upon our own fleshly man-made thrones of power, greed and corruption.

God you know our hearts. May our words reach out to the hearts of those who need to hear of Your love and Your true promises.

You do not promise wealth or health, but suffering and pain to your disciples. For look at Jesus who died upon the cross or Paul and Peter who were beaten and casted into prison. Or the early church fathers who were torn by lions.

That is why the world looks at us at us and questions oursanity. You tell us that the gospel is foolishness to the Greeks and how the Jews seek a sign.

Help people realize the signs are all around us. God still does as the Old testament proclaims. Its not the miracles that have ceased but the fact the world has become blind to the spiritual realm and Your truths.

Lord, thank you for what you give us. The grace that forgives our sins through the blood of Jesus and the faith to believe that it is enough to make us beloved children of God.thank you for your holy spirit who leads us and guides us and teaches us as babes in Christ to walk with Him.

God I don't know who will read this but I pray that your light shines in their life and they are freed from the chains that bind them and see past the lies to Your truth and have hearts humble and contrite and seeking You and your truth.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

What abilities has God blessed you with?

And how has He lead you to use them for His glory?

You don't have to answer if it makes you uncomfortable, but I always love hearing how God works in others lives.

I am still learning how God wants me to use my gifts.

I have been in a painting mind frame since Christmas time. One day I want to illustrate scenes from the Bible with Bible verses about God's grace and mercy to those who are truly repentant.

YHWH has given me to show witness that He is indeed the Mighty One. Among other things; Proclaiming the works of Messiah in His 1st and 2n comingsd, and the importance that His words are the standard.

I painted this scene from Jonah on a table in my daughter's room
This is so beautiful, I would love one of your paintings to hang on my wall...My daughter bought me a lovely little wooden box with my favorite verse written inside the lid...Proverbs 3:5-8 to keep my trinkets in...

God is giving me a gift of cooking from scratch, I have type 2 diabetes and was becoming very depressed because most foods have hidden sugars...I cried out to Him, and He as I type is leading me to eat so different to how I have eaten, I am now baking mock apple crumble made from nut flours and Zucchini :D, and using spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, all things I would not of attempted because I always thought I could not cook from scratch, but the LORD has me doing things through Him who directs my path...Lovely thread by the way...xox...

I want to clarify, I don't believe painting is a SPIRITUAL gift just an ability given by God.

I figured if anyone wanted to talk about the questions I raised ,we can take it piece by piece.

I will try and check and answer as God allows.

Sounds yummy Rosemary.

Our church has many who are blessed with the gift of cooking (i think it is part of the spiritual gift of hospitality and making people feel loved through food).

Every Wednesday we have a home cooked meal and get between 60 to over a 100 folks just come eat and fellowship together. Makes the church feel more like a family.

3. Does God still give us these gifts today?
Yes.
I've gotten into a couple of arguments with some people who believe that certain gifts of the spirit ended in the time of Jesus. They believe that in our world today, men and women are not capable of working miracles like making the blind to see and healing the sick, and making prophecies. This is halfway true because no one is capable of doing these things except through God or through other demonic forces.
I belong to a ministry where we have people who possess the different 5 fold ministry gifts, and I've watched them perform healing miracles and cast out demons and make prophecies that I have seen come to pass.
I believe we still have ALL of these gifts, just to different people. It is possible to possess multiple gifts, but I'm not sure if it is possible to possess all of them.

4) If you believe that God has given you a spiritual gift, how did God reveal that gift to you?
I know there's a calling upon my life because whenever great men of God see me, they usually say things like "God is going to use you mightily" or "you will do great things" but I'm not sure what exactly my calling is. My best friend was recently ordained as a pastor, and I know one thing he has always desired is to see visions and have prophesies, and basically work in the office of a prophet. we attended a church program last year and the head preacher who we didn't really know personally called him out from the crowd and anointed him. He said to him that the Lord revealed to him that he desires to be a prophet, and he said that one thing with Christianity is that strong desires prevail. The fact that this pastor that we'd never met before was able to know what he desired, and anoint him, I am pretty sure there's a prophetic calling upon his life, and this is how God revealed it to him.

I hope this was helpful

Is an endowment which is given by the Holy Spirit. These gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to individuals, but their purpose is to build up the entire Church.

How disingenuous of you.
In another thread you accused me and my Pentecostal church
of being demonic.
And that our prayer language was of Satan and Co.
Implying that our healings, miracles and answered prayer are of the enemy.

Now you want to be the nice guy. Let's all be friendly and nice to
each other.

How should I deal with one who blasphemes the Holy Spirit and the church of God?

Is the gift of cooking, of the natural man or woman, or of the spiritual?

well the gifts of the spirit has been debated in many discussions and some might say that some of them are done away with but me personally I don't like to limit God. The thing I have found about the spiritual gifts is that it's a threefold system. It begins with the offices like say a teacher or a prophet or say a healer or a teacher then you go down to the gifts which is normally set in line with each office and then you have the fruits of the spirit which we all can have but depending on the office you have been chosen for in Christ there are certain fruits you will excel in and others you may have more of a slow time in.

But we also do not discount the gifts we were given as people. Me for instance even before I was saved I was a gentle and sensitive person although i will admit I could also be quite the insensitive arrogant jerk just to be cool, I also have always been a writer at heart. Before I was even saved I was always a softie sensitive and compassionate person and was a writer at heart and I have always been a child at heart and yet have always been able to see things not just from my childish eyes but also from an adults standpoint and when I became saved God enhanced these gifts I was given in life and believe me he has used these gifts in more than abundance.

I myself do not fully understand exactly what spiritual gifts I have and don't have it sometimes seems to shift and alter depending on what a persons needs are but from what I have seen and been told I know at least I have the gift of prophecy and helps and mercy is one for sure.
