Luke 13:10-17New King James Version (NKJV)

A Spirit of Infirmity

10 And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit;and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her,“Woman, you are freed from your sickness.”13 And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God. 14 But the synagogue official, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “There are six days in which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away to water him?

16And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is , whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?” 17 As He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.

Note: Jesus called her a daughter of Abraham, which means she was saved. A Christian! The demon spirit of infirmity caused it. So yes a Christian can have a demon(s) oppressing them.

Yes.

2 Corinthians 12:7.

Before this thread goes south, please could we avoid the debate over whether Satan or a demon can "possess" a Christian, for that is not what the OP asks.

Amen. Satan can't possess a Christian but he can oppress a Christian and force them to do things against their will.

That’s like asking if a Christian can get sick. God uses demons to bring about His Will- to tempt and test us, and to bring about sickness as a punishment for sin- even if it is not personally your sin.

No he can't force them to do things against their will.

He can make them think they have no other choice but that would be a lie..God always has a way out of temptation.

I agree no demonic possession of Christians but definite oppression.

Folks listen to the whispers ofbdempns too often. Mostly in their night terror and often they aren't even concious the thought isn't even their own,

There is a difference between our spirit and our body.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matthew 4:1 NKJV

Why do people blame God for illness?

Jesus clearly refutes the false doctrine that people are being punished for sin of they are ill when he says When asked for whose sin was a man was born blind, his or his parents? He said NEITHER.

Many illness is caused by our environment and our degrading DNA. Cancer etc.

If some one put needles in you over and over again...would you be bent over also?

Demons by nature rebel AGAINST GOD. They do NOT work for Him.

However God does send angels to chastens us sometimes, but in the case of the OP scripture it clearly shows that is NOT the case.

JOB three friends claimed he was suffering because of his sins...God told them THEY WERE WRONG.

So Demons have the power to make a Christian sick?

This is not true in the least bit. Free choice do to good or evil is based on you being carried away by your lust.

If we study and read Job correctly we also find out that Satan cannot do anything to a righteous person unless God permits it. God did not put sickness or calamity on Job, but he did give Satan permission to do whatever he could do, but not take his life.

Death and sickness are powers of the devil. Honestly, who do you think the Angel of death was in Goshen & Egypt? Gabriel?

James 1:13-16-
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. [SUP]14 [/SUP]But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

1 John 2:15-17
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [SUP]16 [/SUP]For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. [SUP]17 [/SUP]The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

This passage rightly divides with Genesis 3:6

Genesis 3:6
[SUP]6 [/SUP]When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate

The devil never made anyone do it, people do it, because they want to do it.

The only game Satan has is deception through temptation and through placing a thought in your head. Stop giving him more power than he has.

Therefore I am no longer in the kingdom of darkness but through the Blood I have been translated into the Kingdom of God's dear Son. (Colossians 1:13-14; Ephesians 1:7; I Peter 1:18-19; Acts 20:28; Hebrews 9:12)

Having one foot in the Kingdom of God and one foot in the world of The Kingdom of Darkness, God will spit you out. You have become a trader to the Kingdom of God, a Benedict Arnold. This Christian has two minds. Whenever you agree with human wisdom over the word of God (bible) you have left the Kingdom of God. You have disconnected yourself from the Cross and made the Cross of Christ of none effect. In other words you have stop the power of the Gospel to reach your life or situation. Many Christians live under a voided Cross. Many Christians still live under the "Law" and have fallen from Grace. To be worldly minded is death. To be word minded is life.

Your prayers are not heard until you repent and confess this great sin.

David said over, and over, and over again, "Oh my soul, why are you so disturbed within me." Remember, the soul gets wounded through sin and trauma. Which gives access to demons to oppress.

Whenever Satan moves against you, he always moves in the realm of death, because "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). And even if Satan doesn't kill you physically, he wants to ruin you spiritually. He wants you to live in the sphere of death.

Yes satan can and does all the time not just by spiritual attacks but often times through others. Also as for being a daughter of Abraham it isn't to say she was a Christian or saved it is speaking of heritage, The hebrews blood line came from Abraham

Example of a N/T Saint.

Do your diligence to come shortly unto me. For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. 2 Timothy 4:9-10

SPIRIT OF LEVIATHAN / PRIDE

Job 41 is the key passage on leviathan. Most of the people who have this powerful spirit never get deliverance because one of his chief jobs is to block deliverance.

Job 41:8 says that when we lay our hands on leviathan we will remember the battle and will not do it again.

Job 41:15 states that the scales of leviathan are his pride and are shut up together with a close seal. One is so near to another that no air can come between them. In the scripture, air, breath and wind are synonymous with the Holy Spirit.

The reason people get so shut in is because of the effects of leviathan's tight coils around them, inhibiting the moving of the Spirit. They cannot hear or discern the Spirit and they say they never get a word from the Lord or move in the gifts. The reason is that no air of the Spirit is able to get in because this demon has such a strangle hold. The scales are joined one to another and cannot be sundered.

Another way of stating this is that he looks down on all who are haughty; he is a king over all those who are proud. Pride and leviathan are practically synonymous. It is hard to separate them because pride causes that stony heart to close the scales and folds together blocking the Spirit of God from entering. Some sit listening, but not understanding or hearing the Word of God. Leviathan's most crucial work is in the area of keeping people from receiving the things of God and of the Spirit.

You may say you have no pride but rebellious pride often hides. Leviathan is sneaky and subtle and can easily hide himself. He can twist, writhe and slip out of the way; causing one to reject dependence on God and subjection to God. He is quick to attribute to self the honor due to God, therefore this pride is the very root and essence of all sin.

Disconnection from the Cross of Christ is disconnection from the power of God. The gospel no longer reaches you.

The Way Of The Spirit
Focus: The Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6)
Object Of Faith: The Cross of Christ (Romans 6:1-14)
Power Source: The Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-2, 11)
Results: Victory (Romans 6:14)

Man's Way
Focus: Works.
Object Of Faith: Performance.
Power Source: Self.
Results: Defeat!

True.
... and force them to do things against their will.
False. Satan cannot FORCE a Christian to do anything. But a Christian can FORCE Satan to flee through resistance to the Devil.

It is critical that we check out the Scriptures before making observations which could have a negative impact.

I do not believe the woman was a Christian before she met Jesus, and the Word tells me this..

1 John 4:4

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
