These are my thoughts, please share yours.
While to us this is often just a names we may skip over, these are people that were chosen to serve the Lord. Casting lots was a way to let God determine who would be chosen. To be chosen first may not have been a higher honor then to be chosen last. It doesn’t matter as much when we come to faith but matters a lot that we came to faith. God has a purpose for us, He calls us to save us but this gives us a purpose just as they had.

If im not mistaken, God did not order this numbering . But David . David is king at the time of this numbering in 1 Chronicles .

1 Chronicles 24:3 And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.

And I would not consider any of these people chosen by God . These are not even Levitical priest.

Ezra had a census done hudreds of years before ; of all Levite priest, and found none after the Babylonian captivity . They are only priests in title . there are very few Levites left if any in the priesthood .


Ezra 8:15 And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
