It's a foreshadowing of the Antichrist. The man of sin. The King of Assyria was cited in scripture as a "type" of the Antichrist. As was Hiram, The King of Tyre.

Micah 5
Who is this speaking of and when will it happen?
If you notice, there is a travailing woman in Micah 5:3 who is the same travailing woman in Revelation 12.
It is when this travailing woman conceives of a male child, when the Lord commences to reign on the earth (Revelation 12:10).
The Lords reign commences following the 1,260 days in which the woman is fed spiritually in the wilderness while undergoing travail/tribulation.

What may be difficult for some to accept here is that when the Lord commences to reign on the earth through the remnant surviving newborn after the travailing/tribulation (Revelation 12:17), is that the dragon still has a short time left to him to make things work (Revelation 12:12), which he does by vesting his power to the beast with 7 heads and ten horns (Revelation 13:2).
The Assyria in Micah 5:5 would therefore represent the beast who will make war with the gathered saints.

Micah 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 13:
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Yes but Prophecy is very often fulfilled in more than one time. Some events repeat like a pattern in history. God writes on the world and on human history not just in the pages of a book.

Assyria invaded Israel for a second time in 701 BC. The Assyrian army made it all the way into southern Israel just outside the city limits of Jerusalem and was led by King Sennacherib. You can read about it in Isaiah 36 & 37. The narrative speaks of the 701 BC invasion but also prophecies end time events. Isaiah 10 is another good chapter concerning Assyria which speaks of contemporary events interwoven with future prophecy.

Remember much of ancient Assyria lies in modern Iraqi territory. The the empire was larger than Iraqi borders today but the ruins of the ancient capital city, Nineveh are still there near Mosul. There is every [biblical] reason to believe this region will be the centre stage of end-time events.

While I agree with everything you have said in both posts I will state that I believe the 1st beast (A.K.A. Anti-Christ so called) will come out of the area in question....I.E. North Western Iraq, North Eastern Syria, South Eastern Turkey.....and I do 100% believe he will be out of Islam and will be the 12th Imam or Madhi. Both Kings you mentioned are blended in context with both a past historical context and a future historical context.

Yes, I don't know if I sound like a broken record but I try to remind my Christian bros that the focus of Bible prophecy has a Middle East outlook. (and mindset) The view is not just on the Middle East but FROM that region. The prophets regard that area as the centre of the world, not America or Europe. The outlook is from Israel as if you were there viewing the happenings of the nations all around you.

This is why overlooking Islam is a mistake because it has been the major player in the Middle East for 1400 years, it resides regionally over all the Nebuchadnezzar statue empires and it isn't going away.

Psalm 83

We have the prophecy in Psalm 83 of a 10 nation confederacy which is formed for the purpose of destroying the nation of Israel. They are called by their ancient designations. Assyria is named as the 10th that has joined them to give strength to the alliance. All the nations named in that prophecy are Islamic today and they are well and truly bound together by their hatred of the nation of Israel just as The Bible foretold.

There is a small remnant of The Assyrian Church of the East in Iraq, their documents are in Aramaic using the Nestorian Syriac script. (Pray for them!) They have been heavily persecuted but it illustrates that after all this time despite the fact that the empire is long gone there are still people able to identify as 'Assyrian' in the world today.

Psalm 83 1-8 (NIV)

1 A psalm of Asaph.
O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still.
2 See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.
4 "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more."
5 With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you -
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.

The descendants of Lot (by his daughters) are the Ammonites & Moabites named in the list.

This is happening NOW.

Psalm 83 (KJV)
Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

It is amazing how the woes and burdens of Isaiah and Jeremiah contain the nations of our day blended in with the classical nations that were the main player nations of old.....for example...the last 4 verses of Isaiah 14 and how Palestina is used.....the interesting concept is that it was not called Palestine until Rome conquered the land and the version they used---> Palestine was Latin for Philistine. And today what do we see...the Palestinians as squatters in the Land. Their destiny if found in these last 4 verses in Isaiah 14.......Concerning the destruction of that area....it is also interesting to note that out of the 5 main cities in the West Bank, the Palestinians control 4 and Israel 1.....in the coming destruction....the 4 cities that the Palestinians control are destroyed and the 1 Israel controls is not......

The OT is replete with these truths......most are oblivious the blended past and future contexts..........

The Lord wrote the book! All I've done is read.
I've just taken an interest in and studied the ancient religions of man and history since I was young. The Bible really does open it all up in a way that many secular historians don't grasp. The intricate detail God has written on his people and his land is a witness to me personally that he is truly who he claims to be- the awesome creator of the universe.

I am sure I will be finding things in his word I haven't seen before until the day I die. Or until the return of the king.
